We had the most fantastic time at the Folly and are planning to come back regularly. Lesley and her husband are the most genuine and welcoming hosts you could imagine. They are helpful at all time whilst respecting your privacy. The property is just amazing, eco friendly as the hosts are 80% self sufficient. So if you are animals and nature lovers this is the place for you!The Folly itself is full of character, very comfy bed, clean and fonctional bathroom with towels provided for you. Lesley allowed us to use her picnic table and we made good use of it! Panoramic views of Downings bay which are just breath taking.Only thing is, there isn't any hob or microwave to heat your food so we planned for salads and sandwiches which worked fine as we had great weather. Next time, I'll probably bring a camping little hob in order to make hot food in case of bad weather.
Just back from 3 nights at Fairy Tree Folly. I stayed here with my dogs Cassie and Ria. Lesley and Robert did everything to make our stay memorable and relaxing.
I did come to Donegal to do some photography, but the Irish weather had other ideas!
Cassie and Ria enjoyed meeting the other residents i.e. the pigs, the chickens and the ducks.
Lesley and Robert's Fairy Tree Folly is even more delightful than the pictures can show. The location is amazing, their property is full of wonderful animals and has a view out of a travel brochure. But the accomodation was only part of the appeal. I never actually met Lesley, but Robert made me feel incredibly welcome immediately. He even made a peat fire for me in the little stove (such a delightful touch for this American), and gave me great recommendations for food, drink, and adventures. I can't recommend their place strongly enough. Whether travelling alone (as I was) or with your partner, this is an amazing stop in beautiful Donegal. (I even extended an extra night, it was that great!)
Lesley and Robert were great hosts, making us feel so welcome and confortable. The place is stunning, cosy and lovely decorated. It is the perfect getaway for a romantic, refreshing and quiet retreat.
It is very easy to find.
It was personally the highlight of our trip in Ireland.
Robert & Lesley were fantastic hosts and very welcoming. The room was lovely with lots of nice little touches.
The fairy tree folly proves that all good things come in small packages! We had a wonderful time and Robert was very helpful and friendly. The folly has breathtaking views of Donegal and a wonderful country atmosphere with ducks and chickens roaming outside. The stove provided a lovely atmosphere and there were wonderful candles to light also. There are ample facilities provided including a hair dryer, kettle, fridge, toaster, cutlery, glasses, plates and even a travel BBQ. Our only problem was our stay was too short. We hope to return to the folly in the future. Thank you Robert and Lesley!
The small house was very charming and heating with turf for a non-irelander a wonderful experience. Out in the kraut but really lovely!
