Can we go back to the Fairy Tree Folly? We were intrigued by the name and delighted by the real thing. Lesley and Robert have obviously put a lot of love into the creation of this beautiful space. While we didn't get a chance to meet Lesley, Robert was just great - meeting us in town, giving us plenty of good advice, and making sure we were OK. The space itself is so freaking cool - our favourite elements were the stove (complete with turf for heating, Irish style) and the many little thoughtful decorative touches. We adored picnicking outside the Folly gazing down at the stunning landscape, and we slept like kings. Strong wifi, hot shower, and easy parking were all bonuses. Would highly recommend a stay at the Fairy Tree Folly.
Lesley's cabin is located on a hill from which you get an amazing view on the unique landscape and the peninsula. Sleeping there was a unique experience.
The room is very cozy and, despite its size, it features everything you need: a comfy large bed, an old-school wood stove and a bathroom with an unexpected large and hot shower.
Lesley is a lovely host, she was super fast in answering to our text messages and she provided us many useful information to get the best out of our trip.
Had a great time in this little (but surprisingly large) "cabin". There was plenty of space in the room and attached bath. Everything was clean, there were plenty of conveniences, and the area is great for exploring. The room did get a little chilly, so make sure to keep the fire going! Thanks!
We were met in the local village and brought up to the fairy tree folly -incredible views, a warm fire already lit with buckets of fuel for the night. From fresh towels to a cool jug of milk -it was a hotel experience in a cabin the size of a double room! Wonderful, will likely be back next time we're exploring the west of Donegal :)
This was such a nice spot to stay! A cozy private little cabin overlooking the gorgeous rolling hills and bay. The bed was very comfortable, and we stayed toasty warm with the heater in the room. They have a kettle, tea, and coffee which was very handy. Bob even put some fresh cream in the cutest little mini fridge for us to enjoy. The rain held off until nightfall, and it was something magical to fall asleep to the sound of rain falling on our little cabin in the country.
We enjoyed some amazing hill walks, and the Atlantic drive. Also checked out the thatched roof pub just down the street on Bob's recommendation, and it was great local spot with good pub food and beer.
One note- when you arrive, they might ask to meet you in town and have you follow them back to the home. That's what we did, and it was very necessary, as I don't think we could have ever found the place on our own. Once we knew where it was it was easy to get back, but finding it the first time would have been difficult as it's tucked away nicely. This is the rugged countryside after all! Bob was super speedy meeting us, so it was no bother, but just be forewarned.
Would defiantly stay here again! We only wish we could have stayed much longer, as it's such a beautiful location.
Lesley was a wonderful host. Her place, the Fairy Tree Folly was absolutely perfect. Decorated to a high standard. The view and location were fab. We loved being so close to so many beaches and the lovely Atlantic.
Lesley and her family were great hosts both very friendly and accommodating. The room is very comfortable and well laid out with lots of thoughtful features and is a great alternative to a B&B as it separate from the main house and has private entry although breakfast etc is available if requested.
