Bev realized her dream of an eco-friendly “Passive House” (well insulated, triple pane windows, tightly sealed with air exchange unit) with a beautiful dance and yoga studio, by totaling renovating and adding a second floor to a hidden treasure of a one floor duplex. Nestled in the eclectic Woolen Mills “village’ of Charlottesville, her unique home is light filled, roomy and comfortable. She enjoys the sounds of the train and the neighborhood chickens and goats, walks by the river, strolls through the near by cemetery, and weekly shopping in the farmer’s market down the street.
Charlotte, Bev’s daughter, lives right off the Downtown Mall, and uses the yoga and dance studio for her Movement Based Expressive Arts practice.
Bus stop a half a block away
We had a wonderful time staying at the Eco House and Yoga Studio for my birthday! Bev was a great host and provided us with plenty of suggestions for ways to enjoy the area. I only wish we could have stayed longer.
We forgot a book, a journal, and a food container and Charlotte shipped it back to us immediately. I just wanted to say that before I get to the rest of the review. Because it was awesome.
The space is just as nice as it looks in the pictures. Clean, spacious, and inviting. Unfortunately, we only met Bev briefly (we were visiting over New Year's, and arrived very late on our check in day). Nevertheless, communication was prompt and helpful. After four days there we were sad to leave. Certainly, if we visit Charlottesville again we will stay there again.
We had a wonderful stay. The house was very clean, spacious, and quite comfortable. The location was excellent as well. We didn't walk anywhere from the place, but it was an easy very short drive to downtown for dinner. We were happy to relax and brew a cup of coffee while looking out over the misty mtn view in the morning.
Charlotte's place was beautiful and comfortable. I loved the peaceful atmosphere. I wish I could've stayed longer, but we had a great weekend in Charlottesville. Charlotte was incredibly helpful too with directions and recommendations! Thanks!
The house was immaculate, and Bev was friendly and welcoming. We especially enjoyed coffee on the back porch. Highly recommend!
Charlotte was very nice, reactive and helpful. The house was really excellent and very clean. We will definitely be back. Thank you Charlotte!
What a wonderful last-minute find. Charlotte and Bev were extra accommodating even though we booked the place just the night before. The place was impeccably clean and so homey with a roomy kitchen, comfortable furniture and a large porch overlooking gardens in the back. And the location is wonderful, too — near downtown but in a woodsy spot with a misty mountain view. Charlotte and Bev even thoughtfully left out a stack of children's books that our 2-year-old loved.
I haven't felt so relaxed in months. We will definitely be back when we next need to escape D.C.
Our stay at the eco house and yoga studio was great. The space is lovely--the kitchen and living room have tons of light and were the perfect space for us (we were in the throes of finalizing a dissertation and it was perfectly peaceful and quiet). The view is beautiful and the location was good for us; we were able to take walk to the river trail and we had a car for a short drive downtown. The back porch was also so relaxing. Out hosts were so welcoming and encouraged us to use their studio space, which we did and loved. One thing to know--it's not technically separate from the downstairs, as in there is no door, just stairs going upstairs. It was fine for us and we felt it was plenty of privacy but wanted to mention it.
