The heritage town of Ramelton only a 5 min drive and the stunning beaches of Rathmullan and Portsalon are all within easy reach. There are lots of lovely restaurants in the area . Letterkenny is very good for shopping .
Derry City ,Belfast and the Giant's Causeway are within easy driving distance .Derry City has many wonderful sights such as the 400 year old City Walls and the Peace Bridge across the River Foyle.
The roadtrip to the Giant's Causeway is rated as one of the Top Five Roadtrips in the world ,visit Dunluce Castle, tour Bushmills Distillery and perhaps sample a wee dram.Or if you are feeling brave, cross Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. The views will take your breath away.
.The Dunfanahy jazz and blues festival held in September is a must see. The local area is an ideal location for a holiday involving country walks and healthy pursuits or if you just want to be close to all the sights of northern Ireland .
– Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way! Tucked away in little villages and towns that snuggle into the coastline are delightful cafes and restaurants, where you can indulge in your passion for good food and great wine. Maybe you will hear a few words of Irish spoken along the way in Donegal’s Gaeltacht (Irish speaking regions) . Whatever your choice be prepared to be seduced by the delights on offer.
In Ireland we pride ourselves on our welcome ( " a stranger is just a friend we have yet to meet " ) and if I had one piece of advice for anyone planning a trip to Donegal or Ireland it would be to take your time . While my country is lovely it is the people you meet along the way who will make your trip forever memorable .....

Anne was a wonderful host. The room and bathroom was clean and really nice. She greated us with coffe, tea and cakes. She made us feel at home and gave us a lot of tips for our journey. The breakfast was great. Our stay was to short and we really need to come back.

We were very happy to stay with Anne and Gus for the second time. I made the same mistake and booked two nights, which was too little. We love the house, the company, the area ... And the cats! Hopefully we are going back soon....

We had a wonderful stay in Anne and Gus's charming cottage. Good conversation. Many laughs about Ramelton John. I highly recommend them as hosts when exploring Donegal, or guests when they're exploring your home county.

Anne and Gus were wonderful hosts! I stayed over a nigh with my mum in the Cottage room and the only regret we had was not to be able to spend another night! The place is so lovely and charming and Anne and her family are so kind and welcoming. I would definitely come back to this place if I ever go back to Donegal (which is a truly wonderful area in Ireland if not the best) and would recommend it to absolutely anyone who wants to go there. Maybe one of my best Airbnb experience ever ;)
