About this listing
Sunny, tranquil and welcoming home. My one bedroom flat has a living room, kitchen and bathroom and is located on Calçada da Ajuda in Lisbon. The flat is well-placed being a short scenic walk to the River Tagus and within easy reach of tourist highlights of Lisbon including the Palácio da Ajuda, Palácio de Belém, Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and Torre de Belém. All within easy access walking or by bus which stops a few meters outside the flat. Buses, trams and the train within walking distance.
The apartment very well lit by natural sunlight which makes it warm and inviting.
Guests will be able to access and use the kitchen and the bathroom. I would like to keep my bedroom private. While guests are staying with me, the living room becomes their private space and will be off limits to me unless there is a need for me to require access.
Interaction with guests
I will always be available to assist at anytime during their stay!
The flat is located in the parish of Ajuda which is a typical Lisbon neighbourhood that allows guests to experience a glimpse of Portuguese life rhythms. Calçada da Ajuda is an active street in the neighbourhood during the day with restaurants, shops, pharmacies and several services located along the road. However, at night the street is quite and very safe. Within the immediate vicinity of the apartment are two tourist attractions in Lisbon: the Palácio da Ajuda and the Jardim Botanico da Ajuda. Ajuda is the parish neighbouring Belém, which means that my apartment is also, ideally, a very short distance away from the main tourist attractions in Lisbon. While Belém sights are a short walk down the hill which has a view of the Rio Tejo (Tagus River).
Public transport from the apartment is very convenient with buses nº 732 and 729 both stopping outside the apartment. Bus Nº732 goes to Marques de Pombal via Cais do Sodre. While Bus Nº729 goes down the hill and passes through many Lisbon landmarks: Palácio Nacional de Belem, Museu Nacional do Coches, Pastéis de Belém, Mosterios dos Jerónimos, Centro Cultural de Belém and Torre de Belém. Of course, for a tourist it is much more stimulating to take a scenic walk through Belém which is less than 10 mins walk down the hill enjoying the view of the Rio Tejo. At the bottom of the hill is also located Belém train station for the train from Cais do Sodre to Cascais.
Guests to respect and keep clean common areas: the kitchen and the bathroom.
I'm a mature doctoral candidate within a Neuroscience programme in Lisbon. I love to meet new people and explore new ideas and perspectives. Yet, give me a good book and a glass of wine and I'll gladly curl up on my sofa.
I've lived and studied in several countries: Lesotho, South Africa, Egypt, United Kingdom, United States and now Portugal.
