The space
Fully restored 200+ yr. old colonial farmhouse, on 60+ acres. Featuring a mountain stream, open space, plenty of walking trails and some fun & challenging hiking opportunities up through the forest. Gourmet kitchen-well stocked w stainless steel appliances: 6 burner gas stove, dw and micro, yet still has old world charm w butcher block counters & wood beams. Lg FR w new wood burning stove, wet bar, loads of windows & French doors that lead to back covered porch with a comfy porch swing and table n chairs and peaceful panoramic scenery. Take in the views while sipping your coffee, listening to the creek and contemplating a walk through the forest up to Oscar, the 2nd oldest oak in Vermont. Or savor a glass of wine as you watch the sunset behind the mountain and plan a hike to the Northwest corner, where there is an old post marking the NY/VT state boundary. (Our property backs up to 800 acres of state forest and mountains.) Either way be sure to take a rest and take in the breathtaking views at “The Fork" on your way up.
We love the area and property so much we also bought the cabin next door. Feel free to mosey over and check out the pond, the active Christmas tree farm and the tiny 10 person cemetery dating from the early 1800s. (The cabin is also for rent (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) 745850).
Each of the two bedrooms have a new queen size bed. One bedroom also has a bunk bed w two twin size mattresses (150lb weight limit on top bunk). There is a full size Klik-Klak futon in the great room (next to a full bath and a door that can be closed off to the rest of house, giving this space the privacy of a 3rdbedroom, if needed) . The upstairs bath is quite large and updated, as is the first floor bath.
Child friendly with toys, books , low bunk bed( the bottom bunk is practically on the floor) pack n play and children’s bowls, plates cups etc

Guest access
The old barn and some closets house our personal items so they are inaccessible.

Other things to note
We are out in the country so cell phone service is spotty. We do have wifi and a landline

The farmhouse is conveniently located between charming Manchester with its fine restaurants and upscale designer outlets and quaint, historic Bennington. This is Vermont at its best- small shops, antique stores, museums, art galleries, Green Mountain views, fine dining and 30 minutes to Bromley ski resort (which turns into a summer adventure park).

My husband and I have been married for over 35 years and have 4 grown children, who live in different parts of the country. We were looking for a plot of land, but instead found this slice of paradise. The property is peaceful, beautiful and quiet, yet so close to southern VT area attractions. In the warmer months we enjoy checking out Vermonts little towns and antique stores, and discovering all the nearby swimming holes. Bromley Summer Park is quite amazing! In the winter we enjoy snowshoeing on the property ( I need to get cross counrty skis this year!) and downhill skiing at Bromley and Stratton. Plan on spending a day to explore the property- you may not even want to leave! We love it here and hope you love it as much as we do!
