About This Listing

Our `Home' is in the most beautiful part of the old village and two minutes walk from the beach. Our old fisherman's cottage is set in a quiet lane and yet is only a few minutes from the quaint village square with it's bars and restuarants and fishermans quay. Two minutes walk in the other direction is the nearest beach which is over looked by the historic castle that gaurds the entrance to the river Arade and within minutes there are another four beaches to choose from.......
Our home is special, after all it is a home not a souless holiday let. The house has a first floor large bedroom with on-suite bathroom including shower, toilet and bidet. From the bedroom french doors lead on to a patio with views to the sea ; the patio is a lovely spot for sunbathing or relaxing. Down stairs there is a sitting room with comfortable furniture and dinning table and chairs should you wish to have friends for dinner; the house is beautifully furnished with antiques and artwork from around the world. The kitchen has everything you would want for your stay including a freezer and washing machine and all the usual crockery and bits; why drink your Gin and Tonic from plastic when crystal is better or plastic tables when linen and napkins set the scene for your home from home.
Leading from the kitchen, again through french doors, is a private little patio ideal for breakfast or evening meals or just relaxing on the chaise lounge reading a book and enjoying the warm evening air.........
In the house there are many books to borrow and read, an ecclectic mix of music from Classical to Fado and Pink Floyd to Gregorian chant.
As we have said the home is our Home, considerate guest are very welcome, you don't need to buy salt or pepper, washing powder etc we welcome you into our home like as we would a friend we would be pleased for you to be our guest.
If you come to stay in the winter then there is a great log burner / fire with ample wood stored under the outside bench and an electric heater in the bedroom. Houses in Portugal are often very cold but with our fire lit the house warms up in no time and having a real fire makes a winter visit to us a real treat.
Lastly: our home has been approved by the local council for tourist accomodation (834/AL), so you can feel assured that we meet local standards and pay tax which benefits the wider community and Portugal :-)
Guests will have exclusive use of our home and private patios.
Please be aware that this is strictly a NO SMOKING house for the comfort of both ourselves and future guests.
The lane to the front of the house is traffic restricted, which means no traffic noise but you can use it to drop off heavy bags. The main parking area is in the quiet road at the end of our lane about 20 metres away, its where we park when at home.
Interaction with Guests
You are welcome to contact us by email prior to arrival or phone if you wish. On arrival you will be met and shown round the house and given any household or local advice. We will be living nearby so will be able to respond to any enquiries in person or by phone. We will meet you to 'check out'.
As the house is our home and not a full time business we would appreciate it if you could complete your Airbnb verification and profile that way we know who is coming to stay, we thank you for your understanding.
We live in a traffic restricted road in the old part of town very close to one of many nearby beaches. There is a small coffee shop and mini market shop within 3 minutes walk
There is a fast and cheap direct airport to Ferragudo mini bus service. There are two national coach stations nearby and ample on street parking too. You can drive or get a coach from Lisbon in two and a half hours and day or onward trips to Seville at three hours are possible also. There is a train station serving Ferragudo / Pachal that is 2km from the village. Taxi services are easily available too.
Other Things to Note
Please be aware that this is a no smoking house.
When staying in a holiday home it can be irritating that you just need a little of 'this or that' to finish a home cooked meal, as the house is our home you may well find food and drink supplies around and you are welcome to help yourself but we ask and trust that you will either replace or leave some money to cover the item used; Oh! and a note of what you used so I don´t find the whiskey bottle empty if I go for an occassional tipple ;-) Thanks.
Please note that we will try to be flexible around check in and check out times but where we have a check in on the day you leave we will need you to check out by 11 am so we can clean the house. If you are arriving on a day when others are leaving the earliest you can check in is 2pm so that we have three hours to make the house clean for you. If you are arriving or leaving by public transport and you need somewhere to store your bags around your arrival / departure time then we may have some safe storage facilities, just talk to us nearer the time.
If you do not have full verification then we would like to see your passport or identity document when you arrive just so we know who our guests are but other than that ............
Just treat the place as though it was a good friends you were borrowing from.......
Oh! and the last rule is : have a great stay.......................
We had a great week staying at Chris' place! The house is situated in a very pretty and quiet road (it's even on postcards from the region!), but super close to the village square to get stuff for breakfast in the morning that you can then have in the beautiful patio. The house really is incredibly charming with beautiful antiques, photos and loads of books, and makes you feel right at home - the very opposite of being anonymous. Plus, it is equipped with everything you need for a great stay including furniture on the patio and balcony, cooking utensils in the kitchen, a little house manual and brochures about the region.
Chris was super flexible with our arrival (thanks again there!), was very easy to contact at all times prior to our visit, greeted us personally and made sure we knew our way around the house. And also throughout the week - even though we didn't need it - we knew he would be easy to reach.
So all in all - we can't say anything but thanks for having us stay in your beautiful home, Chris!
We loved our stay in Ferragudo, the village is nice and quiet and the beaches are beautiful. But the house was so charming and confortable, that we could have stayed there the whole time! Chris and Ana are great hosts, they were very welcoming and made us feel at home. Everything was perfect!
We had a wonderful time in Ferragudo! This home is situated on a quiet lane in a sleepy, peaceful beach town. There are a ton of good restaurants nearby, and endless miles of beautiful coastline to be explored. The home has everything that you would need, and Chris is extremely helpful!
We spent a wonderful 6 days in Chris and Ana's house. Everything was perfect including the location. The house is just right for a couple and was beautifully presented. We could not have asked for better. Thanks so much Ana and Chris and good luck for the future. Robert and Migdalia.
Thanks again for the perfect stay! We had a wonderful time and felt very welcome. The house felt like home instantly and had everything we would need during our stay. The house was so close to great beaches and ferragudo was located perfect for our day trips, even to lisbon. The balkony with the seaview was wonderful and we are looking forward to another great stay in ferragudo.
