The space
Dove's Rest is a tranquil space for guests situated in a suburb close to nature on the edge of the Jonkershoek Valley. It is a short drive or 25 - 30 minute walk to the centre of the town and university. It is a 5 minute walk to the beautiful Lanzerac Wine Estate and Hotel. Perfectly situated for visiting other wine estates and easy access to cycle routes. It sleeps 3 - best 2 adults plus a small child and/or infant and is also suitable for solo travelers or work related trips, couples, friends who don’t mind sharing a room or small families. While the studio is attached to our house, it is completely separate. There is a separate guest entrance and private patio with outdoor furniture. Guests may use the pool in summer which is shared with the hosts. The self-catering studio's kitchenette is fully equipped with all the essentials. Tea, coffee, sugar, milk, rusks and fruit are provided . The location offers plenty of opportunities to experience the beautiful surroundings and the uniqueness of this historic town. Ideally situated for guests touring the wine-lands, cyclists, athletes or those attending university conferences (close to STIAS) or short courses. Secure parking on premises, private patio with outdoor table and chairs. Guests may enjoy the garden sitting under trees alongside parking area.

Guest access
Self check-in using the lockbox. Guests use a code to open the key box at the main gate. Code and instructions will be sent to the guest once booking confirmation is received. OR host meets the guest. On arrival for the first time, guests ring the buzzer at the small gate or sms the host. The host will meet them and take them to their accommodation. The host will give them the keys - a remote, security gate keys and door key. Guests have their own separate entrance. Entrance to studio is from the patio through a sliding door with a security gate as well as secure window guards. Arrival 14.00 -22.00. Departure by 10.00.

Other things to note
We are situated in an area which recently experienced a severe drought. Although the water situation has improved, water restrictions are still in place. Guests are asked to be mindful of this fact and to please keep your showers short.

We are also currently experiencing national rolling power cuts. The host will inform guests of the times when there will be no electricity. This is occurring throughout the country and is beyond our control. We have emergency lamps for use during power cuts. Many of the restaurants have generators so eating out is possible. The Lanzerac Wine Estate is so close to us and has 4 restaurants, generators and air conditioning in summer and fireplaces in winter!

Dove's Rest is within walking distance to the town, university, shops and walking paths along the Eerste River (speak to your host about safety) and cycling routes in the Jonkershoek Valley. Guests are advised to have their own transport for evening outings or to use "Uber" taxis. For transport to and from the airport we suggest "Shuttle - up" . "Bettinas" or "Uber".
