This is a great apartment in a fantastic neighborhood in San Francisco. 1600 SF with living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bathrooms (one with tub and shower, one just shower), 2 bedrooms and a family/TV room. House has wireless internet, a very well-equipped kitchen and a large yard with deck. There are two rooms set up as bedrooms. The house is half a block from the main street in Cole Valley - a great french bakery, lots of restaurants, coffee shops, a couple of bars, etc.
The "N-Judah" muni to downtown is just a block away - very convenient to everything.
What else? The kitchen is very well equipped and has a Viking stove, and there's a grill on the back deck. Whole Foods is about 6 blocks away, and there are good stores even closer by, including one of the city's best cheese shops.
The flat is a ten minute walk from Golden Gate Park - great for visiting the de Young and Academy of Sciences, going to a music festival, or just strolling - and about six blocks up the hill from Haight Street.
I spend a lot of time hiking and cycling in Marin and am happy to leave you suggestions if that's your thing.
I have an indoor/outdoor cat whom you'll need to feed, let in and out and give a bit of catnip now and again, so you should be a cat liker, if not lover.
Cleatus the cat is very low maintenance, and will be outside most of the time, but you should not stay if you don't like or are allergic to cats.
I have good friends/neighbors around who can help out if anything comes up.
No smoking in the house.
Everything is been OK.
The place is very nice and confortable. Margaret was very easy to contact, helpful and kind.
The neigborhood is fantastic and very well connected by muni with downtown too.
You have there everything you need.
We definitely would recomend this place!
One could not ask for a more comfortable, well-located, or beautifully appointed place to stay in San Francisco! The flat has been lovingly restored and is tastefully decorated, with plenty of living space for our family of four. Our teenage daughters stayed in the downstairs den, which left plenty of room for my husband and me to spread out in comfort upstairs.
The location in Cole Valley is super convenient, with a Muni stop just a block away. (We purchased a three-day Muni pass at Cole Hardware, just around the corner from the flat.) The neighborhood is charming, with many young families, and great restaurants and shops within a block or two. After a day of sightseeing, it was nice to come "home" to a warm, welcoming place and be able to just stay in the neighborhood for a great meal.
Margaret met us at the flat to show us around and introduce us to Cleatus. She answered all our questions, gave us restaurant and transit info, provided us with a parking pass, and even left us a bottle of wine. Her hospitality made us feel like welcome guests.
We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely stay in San Francisco!
Upon meeting Margaret to get the key and become acquainted with Cleatus (the cat), we knew we had made the right decision to rent this light-filled, spacious, yet cozy, home for our stay in SF. Once you get settled into this place, it is difficult to leave sometimes. Yet, delicious restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are just down the street (some literally only half a block away)--I highly recommend Zazies (best french toast) and Bambinos (pizza, pasta, wine--all so tasty you may not remember eating it's gone so fast). You're also only about 3-4 blocks away from all that Haight Street has to offer--I suggest Martin Mack's spice-rimmed Bloody Mary for that perfect Sunday morning starter.
Although, I'm probably "preaching to the choir" on airbnb, I would so highly recommend this place over any hotel. The value is absolutely amazing. Margaret's hospitality made us feel like welcomed guests, rather than "just another customer."
Finally, if you are a cat "liker" or better yet, a cat lover like my wife (and me, but more secretly), Cleatus is an awesome cat: sweet, cuddly, and does his own thing. (And he loves treats.)
So, yes, I highly recommend this "Large flat in Cole Valley (w/Cat)"!
PS: There were six of us one night and we all slept comfortably. The two bedrooms and room downstairs with couch and air mattress were perfect.
Our stay in Margaret's flat was perfect. We spent a week at a conference near Union Square and the flat in Cole Valley is just what we needed to unwind and enjoy the city.
The pictures shown are true and accurate. No fancy angles were used to embellish. It really is as gorgeous as the images on the site.
Margaret left us maps, a bottle of wine and free reign to use anything in her well-appointed kitchen. The stove top is a dream! I would definitely stay her again.
Our stay in Margaret's flat was wonderful. She has a beautiful home and excellent amenities. Looks like it is straight out of Architectural Digest magazine. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit to San Francisco.
