About this listing
The Penthouse is a very special, creative space that offers a truly rare, classic Victorian experience. Enjoy a gourmet kitchen, enough space to run around, epic views of the city and easy access to everything beautiful about San Francisco!
One-night and two-night stays sometimes available. Please ask! :)
Welcome to the Baker Penthouse! The Penthouse is our home. As Airbnb hosts, we believe that sharing spaces creates a more personal and positive experience for travelers! The Penthouse is that experience. We keep it really relaxed here and welcome travelers who want to create their "home" experience away from home. We are situated in San Francisco's hippest and most central neighborhood known as NOPA.
We are offering the spare master bedroom with private bathroom. This bedroom is the largest in the flat and has been called "another apartment in itself" from fellow guests. The room has 2 beds: a comfortable queen bed (memory foam, medium firm mattress, sleeps 2), and a full size day bed (memory foam, medium firm mattress, sleeps 2). There is a heater, and record/mp3 player. Closet space and iron w/ board provided. Fresh towels, shampoo, and hair dryer are available in the bathroom. Super fast wireless internet access is provided throughout the house.
The Penthouse Flat:
2500 sq ft of space in a super charming Victorian dating from the 1900's. We have the entire top floor of the building, accessed from 3 flights of stairs (sorry, no elevator). Centrally located in NOPA: Home to the famous Golden Gate Park, Haight Street, some of the city's best dining, drinking and live music, Alamo Square, and the Divisadero Farmers' Market. The flat is fully renovated with a large chef's kitchen, washer/dryer, reading and meditation area, office/work areas and living room.
About the Hosts:
Nadia and Kristy are a couple and share a bedroom on the opposite end of the penthouse. Nadia is a personal development trainer and mentor, yogi, and lifelong learner. Kristy is a caregiver to families with children, has lived in San Francisco for over 4 years, and has the local perspective on what's good to see, eat and do during your visit. Juneau is our beloved penthouse pup. She is shy and nervous at first, but has a gentle heart and really loves belly rubs.

Shared living and working spaces
Street side parking where available
Interaction with Guests
Someone will be present to check you in and help assist where needed to make your stay a happy one!
When we are home, we keep mostly to the other side of the flat. We are available anytime you and your guests need us.
The room is very private and you will have building access 24/7.
This town was made for walking! And being right in the center, walking is probably one of the best ways to get around. Street parking is available (pay attention to street cleaning signs!) and the apartment is a quick 10-15 minute Muni/cab ride to most locations in the downtown/SOMA area.
Those with a car: there is free street side parking. If you're lucky you will find spots in front of the house, if not then Golden Gate Park is just 3 blocks down & always has parking, making it a nice walk back to the house. Just always be sure to check all signs because it's really easy to get a ticket here if you don't pay careful attention!
Other Things to Note

There is presently scaffolding around the building. The interior of the apartment remains completely untouched. The exterior of the building was painted and the scaffolding simply hasn't come down yet. At this point, it feels more like an art installation or urban building decoration than anything else. We have high hopes that it will come down before May. Fingers crossed. Please let us know if you have any questions about this!
Fantastic place, in a charming and friendly neighbourhood. Nadia and Kristy made us all feel very welcome.
The penthouse is great. Kristy and Nadia are wonderful hosts. The location of the apartment is very good for visiting the city: there are several busstops nearby, the neighbourhood itself is quiet and peaceful though. If you're planning to visit San Francisco, this is a very good place to stay.
Kristy and Nadia were both kind and welcoming! The place was beautiful and in ideal location, the beds were comfortable and it was really nice to have our own private bathroom in the room.
Kristy and Nadia were both extremely welcoming to us in their home. The space was both very comfortable and clean. This was my first air BnB experience and it was definitely a good one. I don't think my stay in San Francisco could have been any better if I had stayed anywhere else.
Kristy and Nadia are amazing! They were extremely helpful throughout our stay. They were flexible in coordinating our arrival time, were very organized in getting us keys and a brief tour of their home, and answered all our questions including giving us fantastic recommendations for meals and attractions around town. They were a pleasure to get to know and were generous in sharing their home.
There were four of us staying in the penthouse and we were all very comfortable. There was plenty of space, a private bathroom, lots of windows, and a shared kitchen area that we used to work on our laptops. It is seriously an awesome home and exquisitely decorated! The home is in a perfect location with lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. It was the perfect home base for our time in SF. I would highly recommend staying with Kristy and Nadia! They are gems!
Krista and Nadia welcomed us into their home, which is a very pleasant penthouse apartment. The Airbnb portion is actually the masterbedroom and bath. There was plenty of room for three of us on two beds. Everything was clean and tidy, although the bathroom in particular could use a new paint job and some repairs. The bedroom is full of light and has lovely views. We had access to the living room as well which also has a great view of the city. It is the room pictured in their ad. They provide a shelf in the fridge for visitors, and we made ourselves tea in the morning. The kitchen is right outside the door to the Airbnb, this is convenient, but can also be noisy, as the door is the glass panelled type. The fact that this is a walk up gave us some good exercise when we returned each day. It might be difficult for someone with physical challenges or with lots of luggage. Kristy and Nadia were very helpful with information about how to get places, which buses to take and getting to my boarding passes on my phone! Overall a very pleasant experience. As my 15 year old daughter said "I like this better than a hotel because it is so homey".
The neighborhood is quiet and great to walk around in. We walked daily to the Castro District. Public transportation was easy as well. There are several restaurants within a few blocks of the residence where we were able to have delicious dinners and good breakfasts, as well as a killer pie shop right across the street.
