This is a truly romantic place. The views are spectacular from all the rooms. Lie in bed and look out across unspoilt countryside. Buzzards calling. Comfortably sleeps 6 in three bedrooms all with fabulous views. An Aga in the vaulted kitchen.
A rustic hideaway. Hidden away yet accessible from Stroud, Cheltenham and Gloucester. Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms. Very romantic. Hand built and craftsman furnished. Small quirky shower room but a huge, warm kitchen. Wood burner, firebowl outside. Cotton bed linen. Fluffy towels.
There are great pubs in painswick and a deli with fab coffee too. All walkable from here. The famous "Woolpack" in Slad, laurie Lee's watering hole, is a short two mile drive. Great food there.
you can walk out from the cottage in all directions and enjoy the countryside.
The buses at the top of the drive will take you to Stroud or Cheltenham. There is a railway station in Stroud (2 miles) with through trains to London which is 2 hours away.

Interaction with Guests
David lives next door and will be on hand if you need anything but will leave you in peace to enjoy the solitude. I, Ginny, am on the end of the phone to help if you need anything..
Please take off shoes if you've been out on the farm in the mud. Swinging on the rope swing or having a picnic. Be careful of the fire and generally have a good time.
We had an amazing stay at this unique and gorgeous place. It really is quite rustic and feels very cosy and romantic. When you first arrive you might worry it's going to be cold (we stayed in Jan) as there's no central heating but lots of heaters. However it soon warms up and with the aga and wood burner going actually becomes too hot at times! Logs were £6 a basket after the first one for free but it's a really big basket so it's pretty good value! The surroundings are magical and if you have a dog to walk like us he/she will be in heaven! The toilet and shower weren't an issue at all, it's not a power shower tho of course and there's no bath which is a bit of a shame if you enjoy them but if you don't mind that it's perfectly fine. Be aware if you are into cosy nights watching a box set or a movie the TV is pretty old and small but of course it's not the most important thing and you get used to it pretty quickly! Cooking facilities are brilliant, so much fun playing with the aga and every utensil you could need. Situated right in the middle of the beautiful Cotswolds for exploring. All in all a very special and comfortable place, we would go back in a second!
Such a wonderful place. Definitely on the list to return to. What a relaxing getaway.
The cottage was idyllic; even better than the photos! Beautifully decorated down to the last detail. A very cosy, well equipped place. The Aga was wonderful to cook with, and the wood burner was great. The surrounding views are stunning. The hosts had left in groceries, made us very welcome from the start, and gave helpful information during our stay. Thank you for a lovely weekend.
Lovely cottage in the Cotswolds! The view was breathtaking and even more impressive in person. We enjoyed being in a village/country setting, it was a great location to explore rest of the Cotswolds by car. The home was very comfortable and it accommodated 5 of us perfectly. We even took advantage of local trails, beautiful hikes through fields and woods in the area that you don't need to drive to.
Ginny was very clear and provided us with many local maps and house instructions that were handy.
Had a fantastic stay in Painswick in this lovely cottage. Setting is beautiful in the rolling hills. Great quiet location, walking distance to some nearby pubs and Painswick.
Highly recommend it if you're looking for a peaceful place in the cotswolds and also close enough drive to plenty of interesting little towns in the area.
Beautiful building, gorgeous scenery, helpful host - no complaints here, we would definitely go back.
Where shall we start? This place was absolutely magical! The cottage itself is clearly a labor of love... every last detail was greatly appreciated by us! The setting is spectacular with gorgeous views from every window. We felt as if we had stepped into a different time. The Aga stove was a true pleasure to cook with, the bedrooms were very cozy, comfortable and inviting. The cottage was a lovely combination of historic detail (all of the wrought iron hardware and period design was a work of art!) and modern amenities. We had a family of 4 people, and didn't find the one bathroom an inconvenience in the least. The location was secluded and it was a very enjoyable walk into Painswick, as well as the foot paths surrounding the area. We unfortunately missed meeting our host Ginny, but she was very helpful, responsive and accommodating by phone. We were also greeted by David, the co-host, who was most helpful and friendly. All in all, the absolute highlight of our trip to England, and a place we will always remember. This stay exceeded every expectation we had, and then some. We highly recommend it!

I live with my 19 year old son in this lovely apartment in town. I have lived in the middle of the countryside for ages so by moving here you could say that I have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous. But it is great to be in the hub of Stroud. I love sailing, cooking and spending time with my friends, reading, making music and walking. I go away quite a lot. France, Cornwall and London are my most recent forays. Just got back from visiting and working in India and then sailing from Portugal to Mallorca. I like to think I am a relaxed host. Not formal. I would like you to feel that this is home for the time you are here. I couldn't do without my children, Jessica, Morwenna and Brooke, my books, friends, my guitar and my surf board.
