Medlar Cottage takes its name from a much older Medlar tree in the back garden. Each year the tree produces lots of blossom & bountiful fruit which Jenny uses to make the ' Medlar jelly' which can be sampled at breakfast!
Medlar Cottage offers a warm & friendly welcome for a peaceful & relaxing stay in the pretty little village of Poling close to the charming historic town of Arundel. It is ideally located for walkers, cyclists and those wishing to explore the beautiful Sussex countryside including the South Downs National Park & the towns of Arundel, Chichester, Portsmouth & Brighton.
Our bedrooms are bright & comfortably furnished with attention to detail and have far reaching views over the countryside.
Train services from Arundel to London are frequent & London Gatwick & Southampton Eastleigh Airports are within 45 minutes by car or train. Medlar Cottage provides parking on our drive & a lock up garage is available for car/motor cycles/bicycles if required.

Bootmenders is a great location with charming hosts. The Barn has been done very nicely and is a wonderful base to explore the South Downs from. Looking forward to coming back in the summer for a longer stay.
Superb accommodation, beautiful location and lovely hosts. Spotlessly clean with everything that we needed to hand. Jenna's local knowledge was really helpful. A visit to the Harrow pub in Steep is a must.
Breakfast was delicious. Would recommend without hesitation.
I wish that we could have stayed longer.
This place is beautiful, and incredibly peaceful. It's not a true airbnb experience though, as its run via an agency so there's confusion with the hosts over communication re timings, breakfast, payment. I would only go again on a non board basis, as I found it too inconvenient to coordinate breakfast - in fact they dropped off some muesli and yoghurt on their way out. That aside, I found the place lovely and would go again for a solitary retreat. The host was friendly and very knowledgeable about the area - and you simply have to try the food at The Old Drum - worth going back just for that!
A place too good to be true! Jenna and Jeremy provide a perfect place to stay for R'nR. They made us feel like royalties, and not only when Jenna served us breakfast. The surrounding area is worth visiting for walks and National Trust places and gardens and museums. Portsmouth with its historical harbor area and the 18th century HMS Victory is a must and only 20-30 minutes driving distance. This is definitely a B&B that we want to get back to when we can.
Don't arrive in the dark, you might have difficulties finding it, the place is so secluded. Big THANK YOU! to Jenna and Jeremy for your family's warm welcome.
David Crawford manages the online communication / reservation for them. The booking process was easy. Thanks, David.
This place sounded to good to be true- but it was true and even more! -a fantastic beautiful retreat in the south England countryside. Our Host were most gracious and very helpful, sitting down to eat breakfast with us each day. They pointed out some wonderful local pubs and were full of touring advice. The private cottage we stayed in had a new modern bathroom and other amenities with plenty of hot water. We used this location from which to explore surrounding villages and go on walks through pleasant pastures and past WWII bomb-craters. We wished we had stayed longer than two days.
Just note your contact through Airbnb is not the hosts themselves but a booking agency- so it was a little confusing at first making this reservation, but don't let that put you off. This is a real five star gem of a place!
The reservation was canceled 5 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
