We rent out a stylish single room in our art nouveau triplex conveniently located 200 meters from Brussels Midi Station, in the bohemian district of St Gilles.
The apartment is super bright, spacious and peaceful, with a sunny terrace overlooking Brussels' roofs and gardens. It is composed by a large fully-equipped kitchen and a fantastic living-room with an original wooden staircase. A mezzanine with a cosy reading corner overhangs the living-room.
Our guests have the exclusive use of the bedroom and mezzanine. Both are nicely decorated with vintage furniture, designer items and a nice selection of books. Bed linen and towels are provided. Guests will share the bathroom, toilet, living room, kitchen and terrace with us.
Interaction with Guests
We like to interact with our guests and give them some nice insider's tips about the neighborhood, Brussels and Belgium. We are very respectful of our guests' privacy and expect them have the same attitude towards us and the house.
St Gilles is a multi-kulti residential neighbourhood with many art nouveau houses. Many artists live in the area which is packed with lively bars and restaurants that offer diverse cuisines and a large variety of Belgian beers. At the nearby daily market one can buy fresh groceries or just stop by for an aperitif.
Public transport offer around the apartment is plentiful. Midi station is a stone's throw away, as well as two metro lines and four tramway connections, which make it handy to reach any part of town. On foot you can get to the main city attractions in less than 20 minutes (Grand Place, Marolles district and flea market, Avenue Louise, etc.).
Great place that is well located to get around Brussels. The room was as advertised and the amenities were everything for which you would hope. I would definitely stay here again.
Tout se c'est passé bien et comme prévu. Les hôtes sont sympas et l'appart est vraiment super. A répéter.
I enjoyed my stay with Sandra and Laurent. The room is cute, the bed is comfortable, and the apartment is very, very clean.
The apartment is on the 2nd floor (3rd floor if you count like an American) with no elevator, but Laurent kindly offered to help me carry my luggage up the stairs.
The apartment is very quiet at night, the baby doesn't cry at all. But during the day, the apartment can get a bit noisy. As you can see from the pictures, the Airbnb bedroom is on a little balcony overlooking the main room, and has a glass door. That means when you are in the bedroom, you can hear everything going on in the main room very clearly. I'm not used to being around babies, so it didn't really occur to me that there would be lots of baby noises during the day. Just something to be aware of if you plan to stay in the apartment during the day.
If you need to wash clothes during your visit, there is a washing machine, but no dryer. They have a drying rack that you can hang your clothes on to dry.
The apartment is easy to get to from the train station, or you can have a nice walk to downtown Brussels. There are grocery stores nearby if you want to make your meals rather than eating out (note that most are closed on Sundays).

We are a multilingual couple living in Brussels. Sandra is Portuguese and Laurent is Belgian. We have a baby boy named Arthur, who sleeps very well at night, so no worries!
We both work in communications. As a journalist and blogger, Laurent writes mostly about urban issues, mobility and architecture. Sandra works with European cities on environmental projects.
Travelling is one of our great passions. We've been on great trips to Asia and South-America and hope to discover Africa in the near future. We often take breaks to go on city trips in Europe and we love staying in Airbnb apartments.
From bahaian moqueca over chikken tikka masala to japanese noodle soup, great food from all corners of the world is another interest. We sometimes make nice experiments in our kitchen!
Whenever we find the time we try to see a good movie or go to a concert. Favorites include The National, Arcade Fire, The XX, Beach House, Radiohead, Deus, Leonard Cohen...
Sandra is very much into crafting: she likes sewing, knitting, renewing old furniture... Laurent is the intellectual of the house: he reads a lot and has always the answer to one's question.
We recently moved into our new home in Brussels which has plenty of space to host travelers. Sandra also rents out her lovely apartment in Lisbon together with her mum, Maria. Both places are very bright, nicely decorated and in central locations.
