Interaction with guests
I live downstairs and am available to make sure my guests have everything they need, but otherwise stay out of their way. If you are new to Montreal or to Mile End, I will be delighted to help you find what you are looking for.
Je parle français. Hablo español. E un poquino de italiano. Ein bischen Deutsch. Mai eu no falo portugues ...
Mile End is like a village ... imho, the best neighbourhood, by far, in Montreal. I've lived here for 30 years, and can help you find what you are looking for in this wonderful neighborhood. Within just a couple of blocks you will find:
- the two best cafes in Montreal (Café Olympico, also known as "open da night", and the Club social);
- the Café Dépanneur, with live music all day, every day
- Drawn and Quarterly, Montreal's only bookstore specializing in graphic novels
- S.W. Welch, a terrific used book store
- Two great record stores (Phonopolis and Sonorama)
- Restaurants and bars for all budgets
- mid- (4 Frères) and high-end (Marché Latina and Cinq saisons) grocery stores
Easy and frequent bus service to downtown, and to nearby metro stations (green, blue and orange lines). If you want, I can lend you an Opus card (a smart card for the bus and the metro, that you can load up at the corner store). I also have a local SIM for iPhones that you can borrow, to avoid roaming charges ...
I am looking for quiet and respectful guests. I sleep right below your living room, so not appropriate for late-night partying!
