Great location

Guests who stayed here in the past year loved the location.
Brand-new bungalow reached by a private covered bridge and set amongst 50+ acres of protected rainforest. Secluded and elegant, with indoor and outdoor showers, imported linens, tile, and art. Room includes mini-fridge, coffee maker, A/C, fans, hairdryer, games, and umbrellas. Bird and wildlife watching possible from balcony and bridge. Owners live on-site, offer guided night hikes, and help with local excursions. An immersive stay for adventurous travelers seeking comfort off-the-beaten path.

The space
A standalone bungalow on the Oropel property, set atop the hills of Sarapiquí — a region well-known for birdwatching, wildlife viewing, night hikes, and whitewater rafting. The private and gated property hosts only the owners' home and one other bungalow, surrounded by 50+ acres of protected primary rainforest.

Reached by a covered bridge and with dedicated parking, the suite is fully private: one king bed, a large en-suite bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers, and a separate toilet closet. The balcony offers both sun and shade, stays covered from rain, and provides standout sunset and birdwatching views.

Wood furnishings are crafted locally and sustainably by the owner and local artisans; linens, tile, and art are imported from Europe and the United States.

Amenities: mini-fridge, coffee maker (coffee, tea, creamer, sugar), A/C and fan indoors, outdoor balcony fan, indoor/outdoor showers with bath products, hairdryer, games, books, wifi, and a thorough guest guidebook.

Guests can roam the property's trails freely; entry into the primary rainforest is by guided hike only (additional charge) — choose from an "Ultra Adventurous" night hike or the gentler "Night Hike Lite." Owners live on-site and are available for recommendations and excursion booking support.

Guest access
Our location is adventurous and remote, with the final mile (1.6 km) on unpaved road. While 4x4 isn't required, we do recommend an SUV. Please note standard sedans and even motorbikes do travel to and from the property without issue, although traveling slowly. We do recommend renting a vehicle in all circumstances, since taxis can be difficult to arrange to and from the property. There is parking available directly outside of the bungalow's entrance.

Feel free to walk the paths and trails on the property itself, or along the dirt road in front of the black entrance gates. If you exit the gates and turn left, keep an eye on the trees to your left — after a 10–20 minute walk, it's not unusual to spot monkeys overhead.

Other things to note
Please note the following attractions and their respective distances from the Bungalow:

La Selva Biological Station (7 miles)
Tirimbina Biological Reserve (8 miles)
Braulio Carrillo National Park (20 miles)
La Paz Waterfall Gardens (30 miles)
Poás Volcano National Park (45 miles)
SJO International Airport (45 miles)
Arenal Volcano National Park (60 miles)

Where you’ll be

Sarapiqui, Heredia Province, Costa Rica

We're atop a hill in a rural and remote area. The further you drive up the hill, the more civilization (and pavement!) falls away. You are likely to see cows grazing across the street.
