Do not stay here. The apartment is in a nice area and is within walking distance to bars and restaurants. And the the check-in was smooth. But overall the owner and the owner’s cat made our stay very unpleasant. The owner seemed nice enough at first but he turned overbearing …

In the many years I have hosted people through AirBNB with glowing reviews that you can read below this was the first time anything damaged upon my return. Decorative floor to ceiling drapes in the living room which where hanging for 20 years had been roughly pulled down, so rough that the bar was bent on the left side window in the living room, the decorative drape on the right side window in the living room was hanging by a thread and the shade in the bedroom was dangling sideways with the pull rope broken. The cleaning fee we charge is so the guests do not have to wash the wood floors or the bathroom, so that they can wash everything they use in the washer and dryer and put it back without doing more cleaning. Most maids on Beacon Hill will not wash anything no matter how much you pay them. The place was filthy and these guests left food in doggy bags in the refrigerator instead of throwing out whatever food they brought into the place before they left. How would the maid know to throw away food and which food to throw away? That would be impossible. There was no assumption made as to whose mess it was since the maid clearly stated that although at first I thought it was the guest after them that it was not at all and she had spent 3 hours cleaning the place after Erin left and it was a total mess and that indeed the decorative floor to ceiling drapes had been left on the floor by Erin and James which they seem to think is no big deal. Try getting a 12 foot ladder and rehanging those drapes on a bar that has been bent by pulling them down hard. Most hosts do not take damage lightly and I am surprised that these people who host quite frequently and have good reviews as hosts would think that damage is "okay". My listing has always been all about the cat as reflected in the title and it is very clear and discussed before anyone is allowed to book the listing. I do feel sorry if the cat kept them up at night, but I texted them before they came to make sure that they knew if he started speaking in the middle of the night that he needed food, his "present" scooped and put in the toilet or some petting. This is an AirBNB, not a hotel. It doesn't have full maid service like a hotel. Hotels in this neighborhood start at $450 a night. Our listing comes with the cat and is why you are able to stay here for less then what most hotels charge in the wealthiest neighborhood in Boston. Even hotels on the outskirts of Boston start at $350 a night. Yes, the House Rules are there for a reason. These guests let me know last minute that they needed me to get a maid to come in since they were not going to observe the House Rules before leaving. Who would want to approve a guest who was not going to follow the House Rules? Aside from all this, they seem like nice people with great reviews related to their hosting and that's the bad part of it because it made me trust them with my place. I would definitely not recommend that anyone allow them to come as guests. They may be great hosts, but they are lousy guests which I find quite surprising. In all the years, I have hosted on AirBNB, they are only one of three times I have had to write a negative review. Yes, I am disappointed to have to do this because they seemed like nice people.
The place was perfect for singles or a couple. The apartment was easy to find. We arrived at night and the light bulbs in the up stair hallway were burned out but by the second night someone had replaced the bulbs which made it much easier to unlock the door. Since we got in…

All our reviews have been stellar with no suggestions. We are very clear in our listing. What you see in the photos is what you get and is what we are advertising. It does not include the patio which we close off to keep our cat safe as stated in our ad. The bulbs in the hallway worked fine. It appears someone turned off the light switch and it simply needed to be turned on. Again, as stated in our listing, there are 3 amazing coffee shops one block away and another 2 blocks away. While there is a coffee machine over the oven in the cabinet, not one guest has wanted to use it in the many years we have been on AirBNB. We do not allow alcohol, wine, drugs or smoking in our place as stated in the listing. So wine on the closed off patio is not allowed. All the best to you and glad you enjoyed your stay!
