About This Listing

Close to the sea and with great transport connections. Quiet but not isolated. Welcome!
Spectacular, isn't it? You still need to see it for real, then watch it change as dusk falls, with your favorite drink in your hand.
The Owl House is being completely renovated right now. The builders say they will be finished by mid-May. All the structural work is finished, and we are starting to lay tiles on the new floors, put in doors and windows etc. To be absolutely sure that we will not let any guests down by not being ready, we are not *currently* accepting any bookings before 1st June. The new Owl House will be spectacularly better than the old one. There will be two bathrooms and the bedrooms and living room will be (much) bigger and the back part of the roof terrace will have become a more comfortable and less windy bedroom bringing the total number of bedrooms up to 4. Bookings made now will be at the old rates. So get yourself a bargain! We will be posting photos of the new expanded Owl House as soon as it looks a bit less like a building site.
This is a complete house over three floors with a large garden, terrace, barbecue area and spectacular view. You have the house to yourselves.
There are 3 bedrooms, living room, well equipped kitchen, bathroom. large terrace plus large, shaded, dinner party sized balcony, both with spectacular views, and large garden with a barbecue area. The house sleeps 7 in comfort, more if you use the folding beds and two sofabeds. In summer, some guests take one or both folding beds upstairs and sleep on the terrace under a blanket of stars.
Located in a pleasant tree-lined estate on a hill facing the sea over mandarine orchards, with a beautiful view as far as the Datça peninsula and the Greek island of Kos. There is a swimming pool within the estate, one minute's walk from the house, open June - September (dates approximate - check with us if the pool is important to you). The Blue Flag beach at Bitez is 20 minutes walk away.
In the heat of summer you get beautiful cooling breezes as you eat on the shaded balcony.
The house has refrigerator/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, satellite TV, DVD, wireless internet and hot water. Guests describe the kitchen as "well equipped".
There is a regular, cheap, local minibus service, summer and winter, day and night, with some services coming to a stop just twenty yards from the house. The local mini market is one minute's walk away - and will deliver. There are more local shops, restaurants, and an ice cream parlour that is a favourite with some guests, within walking distance, down the hill in Bitez village. The big superstores of Bodrum (and Bodrum's bars and clubs) are only a short minibus ride away. Many shops will also deliver. The house is quiet, but you are not isolated. An ideal spring, early summer or autumn getaway to write that book or thesis! Longer term lets negotiable.
Some enquirers have been confused by similarly priced listings which are actually offering only a room or house share. Let's be clear - you get the whole of this house to yourselves. This is *not* a house share or a room or rooms in someone's house. But if you need any help our handyman will be round within hours.
Oh, and we have an owl. A Little Owl (Athene Noctua) can be heard and seen early morning and at dusk, often perched within sight of our balcony.
Gettng to and from the house from the airport takes about an hour. Free service buses provided by Atlasjet and Onur Air come to Bitez village. If you come on any other airline, Havas buses (10 TL) go to Bodrum central bus garage and you need to take a (frequent, cheap and quick) minibus from there.
If you arrive from another part of Turkey by bus, then you only need to cross the bus garage to where the Bitez minibuses are waiting. Get on the one with "Bitez" written on the front. It will leave in a few minutes.
For more details, about transport and everything else, see the house manual. The house manual is available to you after you have booked.
We want you to enjoy your stay. This is our own house, we have our own holidays here, and we love it. We hope you love it, too.
A complete house with large garden all to yourselves. Communal swimming pool one minute from the house available June - September (depends on the weather - check with us about opening dates if the pool is important to you)

Bitez is the greenest spot on the Bodrum peninsula. You look down from the balcony and roof terrace on the mandarine orchards, the sea and over the sea to the Greek island of Kos.
Efficient, cheap and frequent minibuses run day and night to Bodrum town, the beaches and the rest of the Bodrum peninsula. One stop is within 20 metres of the house, another about 100 metres down the hill. Some buses form the airport come as close as the village of Bitez. Other connect with the minibus service at Bodrum town. Bodrum town to our house takes about 20 minutes by minibus.
Other Things to Note
Even in the hottest days of summer our balcony is cooled by breezes. Shops are close by, but there is virtually no traffic close to the house.
We think the house is child friendly and were happy to have our daughter holiday with us there when she was a toddler and to have our friends' toddlers there as well. A folding travel cot style baby/toddler bed is available in the house. However, the stairs are not gated. The kitchen is open plan and therefore cannot be gated. If you want gated stairs and/or kitchen, this house is not for you.
Please leave the house as you found it. If there is anything wrong with the way you found it, please let us know immediately and we will correct it.
Please be sure to follow the advice in the house manual on the use of the appliances.
Please leave the house locked (all doors and windows) when you go out.
Please be reasonable in your use of electricity. Turn off when you go out. Don't use the heating and keep the windows open.
Please let us know immediately if the water cuts out (see the house manual about reloading the water meter) of if you use the card to reload the water meter. This helps us ensure an uninterrupted flow of water for all our guests.
Please alert us to any problems immediately. If we do not know about problems, we cannot sort them out. Helping us to sort out problems helps you and also any future guests.
Your suggestions for improving the experience in the house are welcome at any time.
Our Little Owl. The photo was taken from our balcony. Note the talons! Its scientific name is Athene Noctua.
Chris was a good host and responded always fast and helpful. We haven't had any problems. The view from the upper or middle balcony is really great. Yes, and the hill is really steep...but that is nature ...We have had a rental car and walked only a few times up the hill.
Chris's description of all the details about the flat and all related issues like shopping for bread/groceries/water is Very efficient and helpful.
We enjoyed the stay.
We recommand the place.
It's a bargain.
We spent two weeks at the house and we really had a great time. The balcony with its fantastic view became our favorite place. The house is simple, clean and well equipped. The WiFi connection to the Internet is superb. Chris was a good host and very responsive.
Thank you, Chris!
We had a great stay. The house is really nice and quite close to The village of Bitez - about 10-5 minutes of walk. The view is really great. Wish there was an air conditioner though: its Gera extremely hot during the day. Chris was very responsive and helpful during the stay. Would definitely come here again.
Our stay at Chris's place was excellent.
Check in at night was easy and the shop across the street is open late for basic groceries.
The house is located between Bitez village and the beach, the hill leading allows great views of the peninsula from the 2 terraces and garden (we even spotted the owl!).
Everything worked and was easy to use in the house. If we'd stayed longer a car or scooter would have been useful for exploring although the local buses were really convenient.
Chris was excellent throughout and we would recommend and certainly stay here again.
Great place, gorgeous views, wonderful stay! Chris was very responsive and helpful. Highly recommend!

About the Host, Chris
I am English, I am a university lecturer, and I have lived and worked in Istanbul, Turkey since 1991. When I travelled with airbnb to Vilnius,Lithuania and Barcelona, I found it meant a much better experience than staying in anonymous hotels. I enjoy the interaction with our guests and I enjoyed staying with "real" people on my travels.
