Marie-Jose was a welcoming host for our two-day stay, inviting us for cocktails and providing a very nice, clean, and modern apartment. The location was truly ideal, just across the street from the beach making it easy for short breaks from the sun. Also ideal was the ability to walk to several restaurants in the town where we enjoyed good French cuisine. The apartment is ideal for two people...we had three so it was a little tight but we made it work and the convenient location made up for it. We also appreciated the ability to do laundry from the apartment which is helpful during a long holiday. Although we really liked our stay, it would have been even better if we had a view of the beach from the apartment given we were just across the street. Overall it was a nice place for a short stay on our journey.

We arrived with 4 people and were very disappointed to find a very small ONE room apartment that fits two people and maybe a child and a bathroom with a room divider as a door. The bedroom and livingroom we saw in the pictures are the same room and the photos are totally misleading. Marie just said "not my problem" and wasn't accomodating at all. We had to book another apartment for 300 Euros which wasn't very clean and didn't have wifi. In Maries apartment we were surrounded by her dog and cat, though one of us is allergic to cats. The dog is cute but bad behaved. She licked and barked a lot and escaped the property everytime we opened the gate. The wifi connection was really bad. After travelling air bnbs all around the world this was the first big disappointment...

The apartment is very close to the seaside, but still quiet. Even though it is rather small it offers everything one needs. A lot we enjoyed the nice private terrace and would always come back. Marie-José, the owner, is very friendly and helpful.

Marie-Jose is welcoming and checked up on us if we needed additional items. Upon arrival, she showed us our room and a cold bottle of wine and bottle of water, which was so needed due to the warm evening hour and exhaustion from the long trip. She also accompanied us to a winery for wine tasting and her opinion was well noted. On our last evening, she invited us for grilling and again accompanied us to the local family fair and enjoy our time together. Warm hearted and a very good host.

We had a small modification of arrival hour and it wasn't not a problem at all. The moment we arrived , we've already felt a warm welcome by the host. The location was exactly how it was described on the description. It was just accross the sea and for us, a family with 2 young children, it was absolutely luxury. We've travelled accross the world but this was a short vacation of one of a kind. Thank you very much for all! Surely we will come back one day One kind attention of the host: she left us a bottle of wine with a story behind and for the kids there were candies! Zoe, Southida, Alynna et Axel

Marijo was a perfect host and we felt welcome. We got some coffee packages and a bottle of cold wine when we arrived. She showed us the apartment. First we were surprised that there is no living room. From the kitchen you go directly in the bedroom. The only table is outside on the terrace. But it turned out that it was perfect. The weather was nice and hot and we ate all meals outside and enjoyed it a lot. Marijo lives upstaris in the house and has a cat and a dog. The dog often joined us when we had breakfast. The apartment is small but very clean and you have everything you need: WLAN, TV, towels, bed linen, shower, fridge with freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing mashine. That was really comfortable. Almost all clothes were clean when we arrived at home. Outside is a grill for a BBQ. But don't use it every day! :-) You can park infront of the apartment. And if you like you don't need your car for the rest of your vacation. It's so close to the beach that we went "home" to use the toilet. You only need to cross one litte road. There is a bakery and a small supermarket just around the corner. A bigger supermarket (opens even on Sundays) is a 10min drive away. Every moring we bought a fresh baguette and fresh croissants. There is also a good fish Restaurant, a pizzeria and some other nice restaurants, an ice cream parlor and some other shops. At 8pm a little fun fair opens every day. In the evening you hear the music from the surrounding restaurants and bars. It stops at midnight! Portiragne Plage is a small town. As far as I know there is only one Hotel at the beach. There are no big hotels with 15 - 20 floors that block the view to the beach and the sea. That's exactly what we wanted. It's the perfect place for a vacation with the whole family. Our Kids are 4 and 7 years old. When we left Marijo had a small bag with candy for each kid. On our way home our boys said that they want to come back.

Portiragnes-Plage is a nice beach village. The accommodation is a one block walk to stores and shops. With the beach access right across the street. The photos show the accommodation well. Marie-Jose lives upstairs in the house, and her son lives in the basement, with an adjoining door into the unit behind the TV. The new kitchen has been built in the porch area (well stocked), with a bedroom and laundry room/bathroom. Everything was clean. There was music until 12 am from the local hotel, and pubs and the bandstand was 1 block away. We slept with the bared bathroom window open and the ground level sliding glass door as it was very hot in the unit. It would have been nice to have screens on these as we had flies and mosquitos to tend with. Marie is very nice and friendly, she provided 3 individual espresso packages for the two of us to share during your two night stay, and presented us with a bottle of wine on our arrival. The town has lots of rentals, and really has a family feel. On Mon, Wed, Fri there is a market in the center of town in the mornings (1 block away). We accidently found it on the Wednesday and were impressed with the selection and prices. The beach has a beach front concession and shower just steps away from the unit. This pricy unit has a fabulous location, but lacks privacy. Parking is on the street, and it can be very busy during the day, but we were lucky and had no problem. Get to the restaurants by 7 pm, by 8 pm most tables are full, and most kitchens close dinner service at 9 pm. First night we were only able to get a pizza as we left dinner too late. It was good, but not what we hoped for. In the community, many of the local shops do not speak English, and we did have challenges in the restaurants as well. We speak some French, but apparently no well enough to be understood by most. We enjoyed our two days in Portiragnes-Plage on the beach. One hour away is the Ancient Fortified City of Carcassonne, one of the oldest building sites in Europe. An absolute must see.
