Located in a pleasant tree-lined estate on a hill facing the sea over mandarine orchards, with a beautiful view as far as the Datça peninsula and the Greek island of Kos. Some enquirers have been confused by similarly priced listings which are actually offering only a room or house share. Let's be clear - you get the whole of this house to yourselves. This is *not* a house share or a room or rooms in someone's house. But if you need any help our handyman will be round within hours.
Oh, and we have an owl. A Little Owl (Athene Noctua) can be heard and seen early morning and at dusk, often perched within sight of our balcony.
Gettng to and from the house from the airport takes about an hour. Free service buses provided by Atlasjet and Onur Air come to Bitez village. If you come on any other airline, Havas buses (10 TL) go to Bodrum central bus garage and you need to take a (frequent, cheap and quick) minibus from there.
If you arrive from another part of Turkey by bus, then you only need to cross the bus garage to where the Bitez minibuses are waiting. Get on the one with "Bitez" written on the front. It will leave in a few minutes.
For more details, about transport and everything else, see the house manual. The house manual is available to you after you have booked.
We want you to enjoy your stay. This is our own house, we have our own holidays here, and we love it. We hope you love it, too.

Bitez is the greenest spot on the Bodrum peninsula. You look down from the balcony and roof terrace on the mandarine orchards, the sea and over the sea to the Greek island of Kos.
Efficient, cheap and frequent minibuses run day and night to Bodrum town, the beaches and the rest of the Bodrum peninsula. One stop is within 20 metres of the house, another about 100 metres down the hill. Some buses form the airport come as close as the village of Bitez. Other connect with the minibus service at Bodrum town. Bodrum town to our house takes about 20 minutes by minibus.
Even in the hottest days of summer our balcony is cooled by breezes. Shops are close by, but there is virtually no traffic close to the house.

We really enjoyed our time at the Owl House. It was a nice relaxing weekend near the sea. We enjoyed eating breakfast on the roof overlooking the ocean. Chris was a great host, quickly replying to my emails and phone calls.
Although the house itself is slightly outside of Bodrum, we were able to get into the city fairly easily by mini-bus.
Come and stay at the Owl House. You won't be disappointed.
We had a wonderful 21 day stay at the Owl House during October 2013. Fabulous view, green surrounding, good location neither too close nor too far from beach crowds and Bitez village make your stay comfortable and yet private. The house is very well stocked with everything: dishware, kitchen appliances, small household items. If you have any creative project to work on this is the place where you can do it with no distractions.
Chris was invariably prompt and pleasure to deal with. Overall very good value for the money.
We spent five days at the Owl House and could have very happily spent five more. The place was simple, clean, well equipped and has a balcony with a wonderful view of Bodrum and the ocean - a perfect spot for an evening glass of wine. One suggestion to first-time visitors: if you have baggage, you are best reaching the house first in a car or taxi since it is at the top of a huge, steep hill (thus the good view). We got off the bus and had to haul our stuff all the way up, which was quite a workout. There is a shop nearby that has some basics, but your overall trip will probably be better if you have your own transport. We rented a scooter for about $15/day which made it much easier to shop, explore the area and get to beaches that were a bit further out and less crowded. The house itself was a great place to come back to in the evenings.

The house was clean, comfortable and friendly furnished. And we immediately felt comfortable. The view is beautiful. From the balcony we could the mountains, see the place bitez and the sea. The pool is about a minute away and is shared by the residents. We have rarely encountered someone could pave the pool and swim in peace. Here you can enjoy the mountain view. Everything was perfect the desire for recreation we got here. Chris could always be achieved, a lamp was broken, which was repaired within a short time the only thing we have a little criticized, the mattresses were a lot. Are we just spoiled all the great holiday!
We spent almost three weeks at the Owl House and it was glorious. The house was lovely, airy and clean and the view is truly spectacular. Being a reasonable distance from the busy beach was an advantage as it's a bit quieter (and closer to Bitez Dondurmacısı...). Chris was a pleasure to deal with. I'd highly recommend staying here.
Our review is for an unusually long, two month stay....our stepping stone to a more permanent move into the area. The 100 star view and extremely helpful and responsive owner, Chris, bump up the rating for this accommodation, which might generously be called rustic. Obviously, storage space is not usually a big issue for the average traveler, but it was for us. And the longer term needs made some of the cupboard clutter a bit of something that needed to be worked around, but Chris was hospitable and the clutter issue was one he gave us free hand to clear out.
Honestly, can't praise the view enough. The walk down to the beach is not short, but very pleasant. And Bitez!! Bitez is our favorite spot on the Peninsula and Chris's Owl House is perfectly placed within stone's throw of the village and a healthy trek to the beach.
The house was clean with lots of room and outdoor space, not long to walk to a lovely beach with nice bars and restaurants. Also the local village has everything you need and the locals are very friendly.
We really enjoyed our stay at the owl house and were lucky enough to hear and see the owl and his (her?) owl friend! The house is conveniently located and Chris was very flexible with our departure times.
We have precious memories as a family from the beautiful home of Chris on top of the hill overseeing the sea.Especially stunning is the rooftop view : the green trees, the blue bay..When we came there were fresh flowers on the table and a bowl with local garden tangerines. We came out of season (spring break for the kids in the end of march),when the tangerine and grapefruit orchards were loaded with fruit all kinds of wild flowers were in full bloom and the weather was great for walking all around. The dolmush buses which connect you to Bodrum are 3,50 Lira and go very often. We had the whole Bitez beach to ourselves, but I was also the only one swimming, water was clean and refreshing. If you make friends with dog Cindy on the shore, watch out for her not to follow you all the way up hill, she does not know her way back by herself....
The Bodrum castle is unique with its underwater archeology section. The kids gave us a date and we have explored the Gumusluk peninsula and saw sunset from different angles, ate fresh fish dinner on the shore with 10 cats around out table cleaning every piece of bone...The nature there is an amazing mixture between Scotland hills(with sheep and cows grazing) and the eastern, white architecture turkish style similar to Israel...
It was so convenient to have the little supermarket across the street to get all the basics from plus the store keeper gave us lemons from his garden.
The apartment is not in the wilderness out of the beaten path how it might seem from the discription, but in a nice neighbourhood with friendly neighbours and the price was right. Thank you Chris for letting us stay and making it such a lovely home with beautiful paintings and mozaics on the walls. Blessings
