I hope you enjoy your stay at the cottage!

It is recommended that our guests make sure the dishes are washed when they depart. Also it is very helpful to strip the bed(s) and leave the linens and towels in the bathtub upon departure. There is a recycle/ trash bin located at the top of the driveway so when you leave please deposit the your garbage and recyclables (blue bag) in there... :-).

Many Thanks!

You cannot beat the view that comes with this cottage. There were 2 couples and we had enough room and were very comfortable for the 4 days we spent in the cottage. There was a minor glitch with the cleaning/arrival time but it was worked out. The cottage itself is a bit older but has all the comforts you would want (minus a television, but then just look out the window, no need for tv). The beds were quite comfortable and there were lots of linens. It has good water/water pressure and a nice shower. The wifi is good. There are lots of utensils/dishes/glassware and pots and pans. It has a good refrigerator and stove/microwave and small appliances, and also has a nice gas barbeque. There is a small screened porch that looks out to the islands and is great for at night when the bugs come out. There is good swimming out front and if you brought a canoe/kayaks, it would be ideal for that too. The location is good. Central on the Island, about 15 minutes to the main road that takes you in to Sydney and all around the Island on the Cabot Trail. There is a small grocery on the corner of the main road that has a fairly good selection of items for a quick shop but if you were staying a while you would probably want to do a large shop in Sydney. The corner store also has some wine/beer/alcohol and there is a gas station and you can get bait there for fishing. There is a small dock in front of the cottage that you can fish from. Overall, we would recommend this cottage for a nice relaxing vacation or even a couple of nights stopover. Bill was good to communicate with and available to answer any questions you might have about the cottage/area.

Our stay got off to a shaky start: we weren't provided with an access code prior to our arrival, and had to wait almost 2 hours to get a code so we could enter the property (not ideal after a 6-hour drive!). Internally the property is generally clean but very outdated, and seems like an amalgamation of old furniture and ornaments. It felt very much like a grandparent's home. If you're expecting clean, sleek, and modern, you'll be disappointed. You're paying for the view (which is worth every penny). A few things weren't as clean as we'd like: there were splats on the walls and ceilings where previous occupants had killed mosquitoes, lots of cobwebs, and a very dusty ceiling fan. As other reviews have said, there was also a strange odor in the main living area. On the plus side, there were LOTS of leftover bits and pieces in the home, which proved invaluable if we forgot something (nearest supermarket is 25 minutes away, so you're generally at the mercy of small convenience stores). The cottage is quite private, and the views across the lake are astounding. Aside from the gripes, it's a superb, private location ideal for a small family or a couple of couples, especially if you like getting out on the water.

Response from Bill:
My apologies for the cleanliness issues - I do have a cleaner who comes in to detail the cottage between guests so I will make sure that these points get addressed. As far as the furnishings it is a 25 year old cottage and not expected to be a sleek/ modern condo setting. I think the pictures on the site should be self explanatory as to what to expect - definitely comes with most (if not all) the amenities required with the emphasis on a cozy cottage environment.

It's a nice place for a gateway! The cottage is close to the Cabot trail, Sydney and Louisbourg! The cottage gives you everything you need to relax! It was well-equipped, offered a really nice view and the property is really quiet! Our host Bill was very easy to reach and very helpfull!

Bill was good about communicating with us. The location was pretty secluded, but not all that far from the 2 other places nearby. The lake is beautiful. It was very much a cottage, so cozy, but not luxurious. There was a musty smell when we got there and we had to open the windows. All the amenities were as described.
