Our water mill built in 1735 is in the heart of the Loire Valley overlooking beautiful forest and peaceful Indre river; the region referred to as the Cradle of the French Language, and the Garden of France.
Notable for its historic towns, architecture and wines, In 2000, UNESCO added the central part of the Loire River valley to its list of World Heritage Sites.
A bike ride away from Chateau de Cande where on 3 June 1937 the castle was the venue for the marriage between the Duke of Windsor, the former King Edward VIII, and the American Wallis Simpson. It is now open to public and strolling in the park is a delight .
We are also close to Saché ( musée of French writer Balzac, and french home of American sculptor Calder ), Azay le Rideau ( one of the earliest Renaissance chateaux ), Villandry gardens ( The Chateau of Villandry is the last of the great chateaux of the Loire built during the Renaissance in the Loire Valley ), Ussé (the castle of sleeping beauty ).
Just across the bridge from our mill, are 2 restaurants, newsagent, bakery, beauty salon, church, public library as well as a bus stop for direct transportation to Tours or Sache and to the local train station from where you will be reaching either downtown Tours (10 mn journey) or Poitiers if you are heading south.
A little further down the road, is a pizzeria, a new spa complex with indoor swimming pool, supermarkets, gas station, post office and more.
Monts also offers 2 Farmer's markets on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

Well, there isn´t much that we could add, except that what our predecessors said about Lise and David and their beautiful home is true. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are just sorry we weren´t able to follow up on half the suggestions Lise had for us during introduction.
On he other side, that gives us a good reason to return and catch up ;-)

Nice relaxing place. The kitchen Is good enough for breakfast, and lunch but a little small and under stocked to cook dinner.
David and Lise were wonderful, generous hosts who were always keen to share their knowledge about local attractions and restaurants. This added greatly to our enjoyment of our stay. We stayed in the ground floor apartment which was charming and consistent with the photos posted on the website. Bicycles were available which we used to ride to the nearby Azay de Rideau chateau - magic! There is also an upstairs apartment at the mill - if we stayed here again we would definitely pay the extra to stay in the upstairs apartment as a fair bit of noise is transmitted to the ground floor apartment below and the upstairs apartment also has a washing machine. Overall a wonderful stay.
La Moulin de Monts is a wonderful haven away from the hustle and bustle of travel. Located within an easy drive of all the Loire Valley sights this place is highly recommended for a short or long stay. It is set right on the banks of the river. From the main bedroom of the apartment we could watch the river flowing past, the children playing with their canoes and even the fish swimming in the water. I cannot recommend highly enough the peaceful nature of this place. David and Lise are both gems and offered so much assistance. On arrival Lise briefed us thoroughly on all the main places to visit, to explore, to eat at and more. We did not need to do any further research for our weeks stay. The fridge was abundantly stocked and a light meal and wine was there to greet us. After a long day travelling it was so appreciated and typical of the generosity of spirit of Lise and David.
I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking for comfortable, quiet, low key accommodation in an area rich and diverse in attractions.
Excellent accueil et environnement superbe. Le moulin est très beau et très agréable à vivre. Comme c'est central, nous avons pu visiter plusieurs châteaux et vignobles de la Loire. Nous y avons passé une semaine complète et nous le recommandons chaudement.
This is a pleasant studio in a scenic location. You can hear the river rushing by. The studio has a proper bed, it is very clean, everything works and the hosts are helpful and friendly. Parking is available outside. It's helpful to have a car. Monts is a good base to explore the region
Lise and David are both fantastic hosts and helped make our stay in the Loire incredibly memorable. We appreciated the time you gave to show on the map of the region where to go. This really helped us to make the most of the time we had - for the most part good weather too ~ bonus!
We would strongly recommend Lise & David's Mill stay - we will definitely return.
Beautiful apartment right on the river with amazing views.Lovely hosts and welcome treats. Stayed 2 nights could have stayed for much longer. Peaceful and perfect especially sitting on the deck listening and watching the fast flowing river and wildlife. Chateau de Cande nearby well worth a visit as was a great little restaurant on the way to Azayle Rideau called "La Brocant Gourmande".
Our moulin stay at David and Lise's was peaceful and beautiful. The room was spacious and looked out onto the Indre River. The yard has a river view of two streams converging together at the end of their yard. the town is welcoming and of course we found our favorite boulangerie. It is a charming place to stay, and the river runs right by the room! The town is equally charming, with access to many chateau. We appreciated Lise and David's advice about renting a car, as we saw much more with the ability to drive a car. They gave us a map with their many notes and easy to follow directions. We found David and Lise to be friendly, helpful, easygoing, and will definitely stay there again! Thank you
Staying at David and Lise's place was an amazing experience.
Location is great, right in the middle of the Loire valley and close to Tours.
The mill is very charming and sleeping in a mill on a bridge over the river is once in a lifetime experience :)
The studio itself is very convenient and comfortable and nicely decorated (you can guess where Lise and David lived in their life just by seeing how the studio is furnished and decorated) :)
Lise and David live next door which is great for any question you have on the area. They recommended us great restaurants and tours in the region. They spend the time to make you feel home and take advantage of your stay here as much as possible.
The only not 100% perfect thing is that, as the mill is a bit old, the studio is not very well isolated from the 1st floor and you can hear people walking in the other apartment.
Except for that, we had an excellent stay in Lisa and David's mill and would definitely book again next time we are in the region.
Thanks a lot for hosting us Lise and David.
