The Space

Spacious and stylish Victorian apartment seeks curious traveler(s) ready to explore the city! This apartment truly lies In the center of the action. The true character of SF City Living is here.

This apartment lies in the area known as "Little Saigon": a humble mix of working families, students, cafe denizens, office workers, sex workers (yes!), and an interesting mix of immigrants from all over the world.

Of special interest in the neighborhood: art houses and galleries, unique cafes and amazing restaurants that are affordable and yummy. Close to Chinatown, Civic Center, Union Square, the Ferry Building and the Theater District. The apt is very central, so there are many options for shopping in the neighborhood, and within walking distance.

I can provide you with maps and information about the area if you need. Just tell me what you are looking for, and I can help.

The room comes equipped with: convertible futon bed, hardwood floors, free WIFI, dresser and storage area. The room has been freshly painted and there is also a brand new shag rug. The room is the largest room in the apartment (18 sq m).

I will provide breakfast for you in the morning: toast, butter, jam, espresso, tea and milk. The kitchen has a stove with oven, microwave and fridge. You are welcome to use whatever you need (oil, spices, etc.) for cooking. I also have an espresso machine.

This room is located in a 2 bedroom apartment. The room is separated from the other bedroom by a hallway and is very private. We share the bathroom and the kitchen, However I am gone most of the month for work, so you will probably only see me a few days out of the month.

The kitchen has a stove with oven, microwave and fridge. You are welcome to use whatever you need (oil, spices, etc.) for cooking.
Smoking is not allowed in the room, but there is a balcony outside the unit where one can smoke.

Please note I do own a very mellow dog named Izzobel. She is 5 years old, a girl dog, 40 lbs.and she is pretty drama free. She stays in my room when I am home and is usually out with me when I leave. I take great care to bathe her and vacuum the whole apt. so hair should not be an issue. If you have any doubts, I would recommend something else.

I would love the chance to greet you in my home city. I will do my best to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Hope to see you here soon in San Francisco!

  • I stayed two month in Marlene's Apartment and I enjoyed it very much. Marlene was a wonderful host, also she was not at the apartment very often. The room is nice, sunny and has a pleasant size. The apartment is in a nice building and very central. So I enjoyed walking to most of my destinations. It was also a perfect starting point for running and discovering the city.
It was my first experience with airbnb but it will not be my last stay with airbnb.

  • I stayed with Marlene for 3 months and it has been a wonderful experience. We had a lot of fun, she showed me all the best places of San Francisco and event cooked me a delicious meatloaf. The dog is really nice and quiet. The room is big with a big window, so you can enjoy the sun all day...

  • Overall experience at this place was very positive! The room is big and clean. Marlene was very nice as well.
The only thing is that the bed is pretty small, so if you are two people sleeping there it is pretty tight.

  • So enjoyed my three nights in the Loin with Marlene. She was a great hostess and I enjoyed our conversation over her most excellent espresso machine in the mornings. I mentioned that I liked cereal in passing and the next day she had procured a box just for me! Super nice!
Would definitely stay with Marlene again.

  • Thank you Marlene, for the fun and very nice San Francisco experience!
Marlene was a great host, providing for everything needed (breakfast included :)) and was always very friendly. She gave great advice on anything asked (area, food, transportation...) and was open and always available for a chat. The very likeable dog stayed in her room all the time while we were there (I was travelling with someone a little fearful of dogs) and was not noticed by us. Thank you also for that!
I would definetely stay at her place again.

  • Marlene is a wonderful host! The room is very comfortable and has everything I needed, Marlene works busily but she took me around a lot to show me the best of SF (it's a wonderful city). If I ever come back to San Francisco, I would definitely love to stay with Marlene again and I will recommend all to stay with her :)

  • I really enjoyed staying with Marlene for six days. The room was big and had a wardrobe which was pretty handy. Everything was clean and Marlene really made me feel like home.
We went out for dinner twice and had a nice day on the beach, she showed me around and was always very helpful.
The area is indeed very central and even though Tenderloin might seem dodgy at first I see it more as an interesting area.
Marlene is a very interesting person who I hope to see someday in Berlin.

  • I enjoyed staying with Marlene in san fran.. she has a cute little place with a nice private room that overlooks the street.. what an interesting community! It's in the tenderloin and is rich with characters; some pretty shady but I like to study humans :). Marlene's dog Izzy is absolutely adorable, she greeted me at the door (never barked once) with a friendly sniff and I loved when she came in my room to snuggle. Marlene is interesting, I enjoyed speaking with her and she made me dinner one night- yum yum. Thanks Marlene :) The only downfall would be the noise from the street but I took care of that with earplugs and slept like a baby on her comfy futon.

Nutty girl from California. I like art, animals, bicycles, books, movies, music, shoes and food. I love to travel and study. My favorite subjects are science (physiology and medicine) and language study (French and German). My favorite pastime is walking with my dog to some of the most beautiful parks in the city, to relax and absorb some sunshine. My philosophy of hosting on Airbnb is to live and let live. I like to allow my guests time to ease into their new space, providing them with only as much guidance as needed. I will however, insist that my guests become familiar with public transportation. I may make some recommendations of places to check out. The bottom line is, I want my guests to feel comfortable and relaxed, and maybe a little inspired!
