Marlene is a wonderful host! The room is very comfortable and has everything I needed, Marlene works busily but she took me around a lot to show me the best of SF (it's a wonderful city). If I ever come back to San Francisco, I would definitely love to stay with Marlene again and I will recommend all to stay with her :)
I really enjoyed staying with Marlene for six days. The room was big and had a wardrobe which was pretty handy. Everything was clean and Marlene really made me feel like home.
We went out for dinner twice and had a nice day on the beach, she showed me around and was always very helpful.
The area is indeed very central and even though Tenderloin might seem dodgy at first I see it more as an interesting area.
Marlene is a very interesting person who I hope to see someday in Berlin.
I enjoyed staying with Marlene in san fran.. she has a cute little place with a nice private room that overlooks the street.. what an interesting community! It's in the tenderloin and is rich with characters; some pretty shady but I like to study humans :). Marlene's dog Izzy is absolutely adorable, she greeted me at the door (never barked once) with a friendly sniff and I loved when she came in my room to snuggle. Marlene is interesting, I enjoyed speaking with her and she made me dinner one night- yum yum. Thanks Marlene :) The only downfall would be the noise from the street but I took care of that with earplugs and slept like a baby on her comfy futon.
Where should I even start! I had a fabulous stay with Marlene in San Francisco. I was up in the city looking for a place of my own during my stay which was really helpful. If you are apartment hunting I recommend staying here while you do so. You can literally walk anywhere you like. You have friends meeting up in North Beach? Great you can walk there. You want to go to a giants game? Perfect, walk east and you'll hit it in no time. Marlene is a wonderful host as well. She invites you to use the kitchen (even share some dinner if you're lucky!) and has a great knowledge of the city. She is well traveled and has many a story to tell you. My favorite part was the room itself. Plenty of room and plenty to see from your window. I recommend grabbing a good book at night and just planting yourself at the windowsill. ENJOY YOUR STAY. It'll be great.
The reservation was canceled 3 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Staying with Steph was an absolute pleasure, and I would love to come back next time i am in San Fran. I stayed two months, and Steph never stopped making me feel like I was home. She helped me work out the public transport, suggested great things for me to do, and we went to a couple of gigs together to see some awesome local music. Steph really went above and beyond whenever she could, including walking me around the area and making sure I ate great food, after a long flight from Australia. She even had brekky ready the first morning after I arrived. I also got to be in the lovely company of her dog Izzy. The apartment was always clean, and I had a nice big closest to put my clothes in. The area in which the apartment is located, the Tenderloin is lively, and extremely central to most of the main tourist attractions in San Francisco, as well as a lot of great restaurants and department stores. I would recommend Steph's apartment to anyone, as she not only became my extremely hospitable house mate in the two months I stayed, but a friend.
Given this was going to be my first AirBnB experience, the biggest question I had was why use AirBnB instead of a hotel?
Staying with Marlene answered that question, you're more than a guest in her home and very much treated like family. She goes to extraordinary lengths to make your stay comfortable, one night she got back from work exhausted but still insisted on cooking for me...wow! Her home unlike a hotel has strong character, we spent long nights over tea & coffee looking at her artwork and reminiscing on hers and my life experiences. Here is a hint: ask her about Berlin, she's got an amazing story for you:)
You may simply just be looking for an affordable, clean, and pleasant home to stay, by all means this is it. But what I've discovered is that AirBnB is really about the people you meet and the memories you create with them. Marlene will definitely deliver, enjoy it!
Had a very pleasant stay. Marlene is a gracious and accommodating host. The room is nice and has great fang shui. The futon is a bit firm, but that's to be expected. The apartment's location is in walking distance to so much great stuff. The Tenderloin neighborhood is definitely gritty, but Marlene says in several years of her being there, she's never had a problem (i.e. with crime).
Perfect location and Marlene is great host
I just finished a 1-month stay with Marlene and I can't help but wish I was back at her apartment. The room is clean and spacious, and there is a nice espresso machine (as well as other kitchen amenities) available for use. This was my first time using Airbnb, so I didn't know what to expect, but after a few days, Marlene really made me feel at home. She's a loving and caring person with an interesting personality. Having her as my host was the best part of my stay in San Francisco. I wish her the best, and I can't wait to see her again soon.
