Upon our arrival, we were running a bit late and the care taker left the keys with people downstairs and we let ourselves in. We drove in, so we parked at the Gide Qpark Garage which has reasonable rates of 11-12 euros per night and is quite safe; though for an American driver, a bit difficult to park in as the parking spaces are quiet narrow. Not too many alternatives around that we were comfortable using, so we stuck with that garage. Apartment is VERY nicely appointed. Full size bathroom, Air Conditioning in the main portion, but not in the bedroom. Kitchen is nice with washer for the clothes and plenty of glass ware; good size refrigerator. Balcony overlooks cute little courtyard. Now, the real gem is this place has immediate access to the Rue de Duche (Near the Dutchess of Uzes' castle) and the Place aux Herbes where the famous market takes place on Saturday and then a smaller one on Wednesday. Fabrics, souvenirs, sausages, cheese, pastries, bread, seafood, meat, fruits, vegetable, olive oils, jams, jellies, wine and all sorts of wares are for sale then. Stock up and enjoy amazing food the whole time you are in the apartment. Not feeling the cooking culinary buzz? Go down stairs and there are so many options - to Oh La Vache for burghers or a romantic dinner at Piano Piano in the alley way behind the apartment or any of the restaurants within few steps. Go for a stroll around the courtyard fountain and take in a boule of gourmet ice cream from La Fabrique Givree (believe me they have the best flavors from around the world) or have a nightcap or coffee near by. We had a great stay. We loved shopping at the market and cooking in the apartment. We took drives to nearby towns and loved the scenery - fields of yellow blooming Sunflowers; wheat ripe in golden sun ready to be harvested; fields after fields of grape vines; orchard after orchard of apples, plums and peaches; roadside farmer stands selling just picked cherries, melons, peaches, plums and nectarines. Oh! We could just go on and on. We are so glad that we chose Uzes as our base in Provence.
Klaas was easy to communicate with. He sent us the driving direction to the apartment as well as other pertinent details. He was quick with his responses.
We had an excellent stay. The apartment was great, in the center of town and very well equipped.
We have just returned after a wonderful 5 Days in Uzes.
Klaas's apartment is perfectly located in the Place aux Herbes and very well appointed, with thought given to detail that many other apartments lack.
The square is vibrant and lively, especially when the market is on, but go into the apartment and peace and tranquility reign, so you have the best of both worlds.
All communication with Klaas was extremely easy, with a rapid and detailed response every time.
Klaas also sent lots of useful information on the area prior to our visit helping us to decide on places to explore during our stay, which was much appreciated.
All in all a lovely apartment and a great host that we would heartily recommend to all.
This is a great flat! Comfortable and airy, and full of charm. And even though it is located on the main square of the old town, very quiet. Best part: the little sunny terrace with its view of medieval rooftops...I'd definitely recommend this place to my friends....
To stay at Klaas' place was a pleasure. A studio located in the heart of the town, nevertheless quiet and cozy with a balcony to the courtyard were we used to have breakfast or eat the cherries and asparagus which we bought at the famous market, which is just downstairs from the apartment every Saturday and Wednesday or picked it up from street vendors on our trips to the wonderful surrounding landscape. Really everything of interest is nearby: Nimes, Arles, the Carmaque etc. We enjoyed the atmosphere of Klaas' tastefully furnished apartment and the well equipped kitchen as well as the generosity of his character which struck us in a positive way immediately during our conversations. We definitely recommend this place and would love to come back some time.
Klaas is an amazing host. He goes out of his way to be sure everything is well and we are happy. We've stayed twice and loved it each time. We will be back in June as the location and apartment are perfect.
