Quiet, conveniently located home in one of the city's most desirable neighborhoods: The Highlands. My listing includes a private bath adjoining the guest bedroom. I also have a second floor guest bedroom available for larger groups.
Coming to Louisville for a night or a week? Moving to town but not sure where to live? I have an extra bedroom with private bath in my comfortable 3 bedroom completely renovated bungalow in the Highlands area of Louisville. If more than 2 of you are traveling together, I have a second guest bedroom also available. Your bedroom has a closet, dresser, nightstand and a firm queen size mattress with comfort padded top. The adjacent bathroom has a tub/shower with rain style shower head. For those who have allergies, note that I have 2, six year old cats who are very affectionate, but pretty much stay to themselves. My place isn't all "furry" though. I'm fanatic about keeping my home clean and orderly, and the second guest bedroom is 100% pet-free as it's on a different level of the house (second floor). Often people comment that if they hadn't seen the cats they wouldn't even have known I had any. Nightly rate includes clean linens, towels, and bathroom essentials (shampoo, body wash or soap, etc).
There are approximately 7 restaurants within a 3 block walking distance of my home. I am less than a half mile from Bellarmine University and approximately 3 miles from the University of Louisville. I keep a fairly busy schedule so generally guests generally have the house to themselves. I am an avid cook (not professional), so if you are so inclined, you are welcome to use anything in the kitchen you find available. I also grow a variety of veggies in a fairly small seasonal garden, so depending on what's ripe, you're more than welcome to pick from the garden, which may include a couple different varieties of lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, yellow squash, zucchini, green beans, broccoli, cucumbers and some herbs.
NON SMOKING ONLY.
My guests have full use of all areas of the home except the lower level. This area contains my private bathroom and media room. You are free to watch TV in the first floor den or use the TV in the guest bedroom. You are also welcome to cook in my kitchen. There are 2 grocery stores within a mile of my home. On a nice day feel free to lounge on the patio with a glass of your favorite adult or non-alcoholic beverage and relax to the sound of the tranquil waterfall in the backyard. I do have complimentary high-speed WIFI and provide a variety of soft beverages, coffee and hot teas. If there's anything I can do to make your stay more comfortable, please ask!
Interaction with Guests
I do like to interact with my guests, as much as they may like my company. If invited, I've been known to go out to eat with guests, do a little bar hopping, or enjoy a nice dinner at home. I'm happy to make recommendations on places to see, eat and entertain. My guests are free to come and go as they wish.
Deer Park is a neighborhood four miles southeast of downtown Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Most of the neighborhood was developed from 1890 through the 1920s as a streetcar suburb, with all but six of its 24 subdivisions being developed by 1917, and the last laid out by 1935, although some development west of Norris Place continued after World War II. (Information provided by Wikipedia.)
My home sits in the middle of the Deer Park neighborhood, which is considered a part of a larger area of Louisville called The Highlands. It's a very eclectic part of town. It's a very walkable area with mixed architecture that includes craftsmen-style homes like mine, Victorians, and everything in between. It's a quiet and charming part of town, just 4 miles from the central business district downtown. There are 2 parks within walking distance - Tyler Park and the much larger Cherokee Park, which features a 2.5 mile paved walking loop. Bardstown Road, with a great mix of independent shops, galleries, restaurants and bars is just 3 blocks away.
My home is roughly only a $20 cab ride from the airport. Multiple city bus stops (TARC) are just a block or so in either direction. Ample on-street parking is available.
Other Things to Note
Here's a great link to some interesting facts about Louisville: (website hidden)==/posts/xA1t4ulOGSyz8FthKM8IxQ/10-Things-You-Might-Not-Know-about-Louisville#.Ut6By0Ao7IU.
I expect guests to treat my house as they would their own. I'm very ecologically conscious, and believe we should minimize our footprint on the planet as much as possible. I'm not a fanatic, but I do believe - HEAVILY - in recycling. I recycle all paper, plastics, metals and glass. The only thing that goes into my trash can is food scraps (at least until I get into composting).
I do not have a cleaning service, nor am I your "maid." I expect guests to clean up after themselves. For example, if you dirty a dish, put it in the dishwasher. If you use a towel, hang it up to dry. I do not provide freshly laundered towels on a daily basis. If you stay a week or longer, I will launder the sheets and towels once a week.
Guests are free to use my washer and dryer, but I would respectfully ask that you leave $5 per load to cover the cost of use of the equipment, detergents, water and energy.
Non-paying guests and pets are not allowed (while friendly, my cats do not take well to other animals) and I do not rent to people under 21.
We had a great stay at Michael's place. His home is very attractive and neat. Michael was also very good at making arrangements and accommodating us when we became a party of two instead of one. We greatly appreciated having him as a host. Things really could not have been better.
Michael was a great host & made me feel right at home. The bed was extremely comfortable & the neighborhood was centrally located for everything I needed. All arrangements were very conveniently made for me & the house was clean & inviting. Would definitely stay again!
Michael is a great host. Every detail of the visit went smoothly, from initial contact to accessing the home (I arrived when he was out) to making sure I knew about places to eat, etc. And his home is ideal: immaculately clean, an inviting space (guests can use the kitchen, for instance), and the location is terrific. I walked to several places, including a pub just down the street for dinner one night (2 mins by foot) and a coffee shop on Bardstown Rd (maybe 7 mins by foot). Very safe neighborhood and easy access to downtown. I would definitely stay here again!
This Airbnb home is beautifully decorated, quite comfortable and located in a nice walkable neighborhood. Michael's recommendation of Highland Morning was selected as the breakfast stop for our last day in Louisville. YUM! German Chocolate pancakes - to live for! By sharing his knowledge of the city, local events and unique offerings, Michael inspired us to plan a longer stay in Louisville next time.
We had wonderful time in Michael's lovely home. We stayed in the bedroom pictured and it was clean and comfortable.
Michael was quick to respond to messages. We arrived later than originally scheduled and Michael left us a detailed note with instructions.
The house is situated within walking distance to Bardstown Rd and Cherokee Park. We found this to be a great attribute since we spent most of our time walking instead of driving from one place to another.
Overall, we had a very pleasant stay at Michael's.
We had a wonderful time staying in Michael's beautifully renovated home. Michael is a charming host, genuinely friendly, helpful, and also respectful of privacy. We grew very attached to Karen & Jack, his two white cats. Loved the kitchen and the deck/backyard. The neighborhood was a real trip, literally lit up like a Christmas tree for the holidays.
Michael was very nice and hospitable. He gave us great recommendations of places to check out around town. The bed was suuuuper comfy and his cats were adorable.

I'm a very engaging, but private professional, who works locally for the University of Louisville. I like to travel extensively around the world. I love to do home renovation projects, garden and cook. I like good wine and fine bourbon. I'm also an avid cyclist. If you bring a bike, we may just go riding together!
