Two private cave apartments to rent in the troglodyte village of Goreme
HasanCave: Private cave apartments in Göreme
Sema Cave Flat
(See our other listing under Self-Catering Flats in Goreme)
Get down underground in your very own one-bedroom cave apartment in the centre of Göreme, the coolest cave village in Cappadocia! We have two private apartments under our house, Elif Cave Flat and Sema Cave Flat (see separate listing) which can be rented on their own or together for larger groups. Each one sleeps up to four people with one double bedroom and two single sedirs (traditional Turkish sofabeds).
Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchenette and stone tiled bathroom. Guests have access to the house garden and terraces with a view over the weird and wonderful local rock formations. The kitchenette and fridge allow you to prepare your own meals with food from the local shops and markets, great for families, people with dietary restrictions and people who love to cook. Join us for woodcarving demonstrations in our cave workshop, music nights in our family-run restaurant in town, or just relaxing in the garden (where the wi-fi signal is). There is no TV in the flat, just the sound of noisy sparrows.
Göreme is an amazing town with lots to see and do. From your cave apartment you can walk 5 minutes to the centre of town with its lively restaurants, cafes and bars, or walk a bit further to the Göreme Open-Air Museum, a World Heritage Site full of Byzantine churches. Explore the gorgeous valleys of Cappadocia just around the corner, full of wildlife, archaeology and wide-open spaces, by foot, bike, horse, or balloon! Or shop for souvenirs, see a Sema ceremony of whirling dervishes, unwind in the local Turkish bath, then relax with a tea or glass of local wine. A short bus ride away are other cave towns to explore, markets, ceramics, and valleys to walk in.
We are not a hotel or pension, but we can help with information and booking activities, like balloon flights and tours. Breakfast is not included but we can provide a grocery pack for your arrival. The easiest way to reach us is by shuttle from Nevsehir or Kayseri airport- we can book one to pick you up and bring you straight to our place.
We welcome families and guests with young children can use our travel cots, inflatable baby bath, bouncy chair and extra baby blankets.
Cappadocia is also beautiful during the winter months, when snow covers the rock formations and life is quiet. Our caves are centrally heated.
Please note that if you're planning to visit Turkey in 2014, you will not be able to get a visa on arrival at the airport. You will need to apply online for an e-visa from the Turkish government website.
Please no smoking in the flat. Really well-behaved dogs are allowed if they are willing to stay in the garden.
All was as described . Bed was a little springy, but not bad . Hasan came to check on us and make sure all was well . Our driver dropped us off at the wrong location , but Hasan's brother and sister found us promptly and got us checked in.
Hasan was a spectacular host. He was available to help and answer questions if needed, and made our stay comfortable. The cave was basic...exactly what we were looking for. The small kitchen was perfect for cooking simple dishes, the bed and the Turkish beds in the living room were all comfortable and the shower was hot. The location was great as it was a short walk to anything in Goreme but was also extremely quiet. We loved the cave!
Good location, beautiful decorations in the apartment, full equipment for cook, Hasan wait us until 1:00 o'clock because of night flight.
We were only two days in Hasan cave, but we felt like in our home. Hasan helped us to know the culture of Capadocia and to enjoy our visit. On the other hand, the cave is very comfortable and the location is perfect. I truly recommend this place
Hasan was a welcoming host who was kindly flexible about our arrival time and helped us get situated to Goreme. The apartment is accurately described, and it was clean and comfortable for our family of four.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay in Kapadokya. Hasan was a gracious host who met us right at the bus station and helped us trudge through the snow to get to our cave. Upon leaving, he even let us store our luggage at his restaurant, which made our late departure stress free.
The cave was chilly, but we were prepared for that as per Hasan's accurate description of the caves. The cave was incredibly clean and comfortable. The shower was amazing and the towel warmer was key. It was especially nice to have a cooktop - we made breakfast every morning and even boiled eggs and packed a picnic to bring with us for the day as we hiked around Kapadokya. The "Kapadokya Guide" left by Hasan and Diane was absolutely helpful and really guided us with what to see in the area, and where we should travel off the beaten path.
The only down side was that the WiFi did not work in the cave at all, nor on the terrace. This made it difficult to communicate with family and to make plans for the following day. If you stay here (which you should!), just be ready to stop at one of the many town cafes or restaurants on your way home for free WiFi.
We hope to return to Kapadokya again in the warmer months!
Great cave apartment in Goreme. Highly recommended and Hasan was very helpful. His restaurant is great too!
