Situated 30 minutes outside of the city centre on the beautiful Dublin coast line.
We have a four bedroom apartment with a spacious open plan kitchen, lounge and dining room area. The private room has a comfortable double bed and you will have your own bathroom to use. The mattress on the bed is a high quality one and towels along with a hairdryer are supplied in the room. There is also a kettle and a little milk fridge in the room so that you can make tea or coffee without having to come downstairs to the kitchen.
You can expect a very comfortable apartment with good interior design. We have comfortable couches, a big daybed, lots of books, a big dining room table and well equipped kitchen.
The apartment is in a secure complex with lots of parking space. It is a 10 minute walk away from the beautiful Malahide Castle grounds and 15 minutes away from the Malahide Estuary. The village of Malahide is quaint, with little boutiques, coffee shops, excellent pubs and a wide variety of restaurants.
There is a bus stop right outside the apartment that takes you into Dublin City Centre. The train station is a 20 minute walk away. The bus takes 50 minutes to get into Dublin City Centre and the train takes 35 minutes to Connolly station. There is a bicycle rental place just up the road, opposite the castle entrance if you want to explore the village by bike.
The apartment is 8km from Dublin Airport and a taxi from the airport to the apartment costs about 15 Euros. The trip takes 15 minutes.
If you want a place to explore the outer seaside villages of Dublin, then this is an ideal place for you. Howth and Sutton are villages just further along the train line. They have beautiful cliff walks, a Sunday market and beautiful beaches. Portmarnock the village next to Malahide has a blue flag beach with a beautiful walk from Malahide. People who visit with us describe the place as somewhere to really relax.
Calvin and I will happily tell you about our favourite restaurants and secret places that not many people know about. We love this village and we want to share it with you!
The room and a private bathroom.
Interaction with Guests
We interact with guests as much or as little as time allows. We come and go and if we get to spend time with guests, great. If everyone is busy, we just connect when we can.
We like things clean and we appreciate it if our guests keep it that way too.
We don't allow smoking.
All shoes are taken off at the door.
Make yourself at home.
I can't recommend Claire, Calvin, and their beautiful home enough! Not only is their home aesthetically gorgeous, cozy, and comfortable, but the two of them are incredibly welcoming, kind people. Claire was amazing with communication before my arrival to their home, with flexibility around my check-in and check-out times, with making sure I was always comfortable in their home, and with giving me recommendations about what to do around Malahide and the larger Dublin area.
If I am in the Malahide area again, I will most definitely stay here again! It is rare to find a true home away from home, and Claire and Calvin offer exactly that. This is a gem of a find on Airbnb. I wish all my Airbnb experiences were as excellent as this one.
Calvin was a wonderfully helpful and accommodating host! The home is situated close to the airport and just outside the city of Dublin - conveniently accessible to both by car or rail.
The room was very comfortable - and Calvin was able to assist us in making dinner plans ( fantastic!) and arranging transportation.
A most enjoyable stay!
Our stay at Claire and Calvin's appartment was great, the house is beautiful, in a calm location. Our hosts were very nice, Calvin showed us the village while it was rainy, and brought us to buy food. Unfortunately, the breakfast is not provided while the house is 25 minute walk from the center of the village.
I stayed in Claire's apartment for 4 days, it is really nice and clean. The street is very quiet and it is a good starting point to visit Dublin! The bus 42 tooks 20/25 minutes to reach the centre of Dublin and there is also the nocturnal route. I heartily recommend it!
Claire and her husband Calvin were perfect hosts- from the moment we entered their apartment complex, we immediately felt at home. It's super easy to get to their place taking the bus from Dublin city centre, or from Dublin airport. Claire was watching out for us and made sure to flag us down from her front porch :) Both Claire and Calvin go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need and more. Their home is gorgeous, as is the guest room/bathroom. Everything was very clean and comfortable. They're also super friendly and easy to talk to- wish we could have stayed longer! Also, Malahide is the cutest little seaside village- you will not be disappointed.
Quiet neighborhood next to Malahide, plenty of buses to Dublin, Swords and the airport, 10 minutes walking to Malahide Castle and town, a pristine room and house, private bathroom for the guest and all the amenities. But among all, the best are Claire and Calvin. They made it very easy for me, I felt extremely comfortable and they're the best hosts one can expect.
i had a great experience with Claire and Calvin. They made me extremely welcome and went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. The bed was super comfortable. They even let me use a bicycle so I could commute to Malahide village with ease. I am very grateful that I found this place !
I've been described as part chaos, part rocket fuel. Calvin is the other half of the equation. We mostly use airbnb when travelling and love hosting people when we're home. We're both lovers of good design and good food.
I am the author of Spin: Taking Your Creativity to the Nth Degree. I am also a productivity expert, an organisational change consultant,a food photographer, a downhill mountain biker and a volleyball player.
Calvin is a director in a tech company here in Dublin. He loves his guitars and good sound and most weekends he'll be chasing me down the hills of Wicklow on his mountain bike. When we're not cycling, we're digging and mulching in our allotment garden.
Oh and the cats who rule the house ... the Persian is Buttons and the Maine Coon is Cocoa. Our friends describe him as a little tiger and her as a madame.
