Built in the 1930s, our home was moved to its present location in the '50s and has been added on to, revised and remodeled several times since. Casa Tropical was featured in "Southern Living" in the 1980s. The casita was constructed for our visiting family and friends, and now we offer it to you!
The triple-paned Pella doors and windows ensure complete quiet in the casita and help make it inviting and snug.
The neighborhood is safe with flat terrain which makes long walks or bike rides enjoyable. The surrounding houses are all different from each other and are set on their properties in individualized ways; this is not a cookie-cutter "housing development." In fact, I think you'll find that there is nowhere else in Corpus Christi quite like our home.
We are 15 minutes from the downtown attractions and 15 minutes from the island beaches. The performing arts center is a 3 minute drive, or a 15 minute walk. A bird sanctuary/shoreline nature preserve is a 2 minute drive, or 15 minute walk in a different direction. One of the major bird flyways of America is overhead, and Casita Tropical is literally at its very end. Bird watchers are in heaven here. There are also two golf courses within walking distance.
Casita Tropical is one block north of the ocean and Oso Bay is across the street on the east side of the property. The sandy beach opposite (email hidden) is a 30 minute walk from the Casita. Downtown attractions such as the USS.Lexington and Texas Aquarium, as well as Padre Island's many beaches (where you can drive right onto the sand and along the water's edge!) and other sites of interest are equally convenient.
We are near all of Corpus's activities: sport fishing, angling, sailing, kite and wind surfing as well as regular surfing, sky diving, beach bumming, shell collecting, Padre Island National Seashore, great restaurants, seafood joints and friendly watering holes. We are within walking distance of (email hidden) University.

Excellent place to stay and thoroughly recommended. Anyone who wishes for a quiet ,peaceful, and very comfortable home away from home this will be perfect. Connor and Constance were very considerate hosts. One of the reasons we booked for our extended stay was the positive reviews and we were not disappointed.
My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Casita Tropical over Christmas. Constance and Connor were warm and accommodating, and their bungalow was everything we were looking for. The loft bedroom was warm, quiet and dark: perfect for a deep, sound sleep. The kitchen was simple, but well-appointed and provided everything we needed for cooking a wonderful holiday meal. We are very glad to have found such a nice place to stay when we travel to see our family.
Lovely apartment in back of main house, much bigger than it appears online. Outdoor deck and vegetation wonderful. Hosts friendly, helpful, and interesting. Just around the corner from Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
Casita Tropical is a very nice place located around a truly tropical setting - the garden is beautiful and the surrounding makes you think you are in the tropics. An exquisite garden with plenty of outside space you are allowed to use. There is also outside music that the hosts play in the back ground. We moved in here for four nights and had our Thanksgiving here. We prepared quale instead of turkey, and the kitchen was plenty to prepare meals including an electric stove/oven. On the bottom floor there is a nice firm futon/sofa,big screen TV and DVD/VCR combo and separate radio/CD mini stereo system with great sound for some entertainment. There are also some books and we brought some games we enjoy. Downstairs are a toilet and sink, very spacious. Upstairs is a full size bed (smaller than Queen size) with a quality firm mattress (I dislike soft mattresses). There is also a sofa seat Otto man combo. The bathroom has a shower but no bath tub, toilet and sink, again spacious. The entire apartment is very spacious. There is access to outdoor decks upstairs and down stairs. Conner and Constance are a very nice couple and extremely helpful. We were there to get away from it all due to some personal tragedy in our family, so it was partially emotional for especially my fiance. We spend time at the beaches and the entire bay is basically between 2 and 20 minutes available depending on where you want to go. It is a perfect location in our opinion. When getting to the guest house in the back of their property, you really appear to be in the tropics. It's very nice. The apartment suits the style, tall ceilings and partial open space with the loft upstairs. Very comfy. We brought candles for below and that helped with making the atmosphere nice. The AC unit/heater is very good. We hardly needed it but when we chose a couple degrees warmer or cooler it really worked quickly. This probably will be nice in the summer time. This was our first Airbnb experience and this stay was an awesome alternative to a bland hotel room. Thank you Conner and Constance for making your space available to us!
Came into town for a funeral and needed a peaceful and convenient place to be near family. This was such a blessing to us-- the gardens are amazing and the guesthouse an impressive structure. My favorite part was waking up to the sounds of so many kinds of birds! The bed was quite comfortable and there were plenty of linens and pillows to choose from. It's a full-size bed, in case that's a factor for a couple. A very comfortable stay, thank you!
Connie and Conner have a lovely place. Very tropical and quiet. We were amazed by all the different species of plants that are laid out around their property. During our stay, we hardly knew we were in somebody else's back yard. They were there, but let us have our space. Conner even piped soothing music into the backyard when we were sitting outside. Connie offered to let us use any of their CD's if we had a choice. The Casita is well furnished and laid out. It has everything you need. We will definitely choose this place for our return to the Corpus Christi area. It is moments from downtown or Padre Island. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
Beautiful place! Very clean and spacious. The hosts were very helpful in giving recommendations, directions, etc. Highly recommend it!
The hotels in the area were filthy. After checking in and looking at a few rooms, we immediately hit the internet to find another place to stay. Due to an Oil and Gas show in the area, there was no acceptable lodging options. I was glad to have the air bnb network to extend my choices. The "Casita" was a nice alternative. Thank you for the quick response as it was an accommodation emergency:)
We had the most amazing time staying at Connor and Constance's guest house! Before we came, we had to delay the date of our arrival and they were incredibly accomodotating. Communication was excellent, and I cannot say enough about how ideally located their place is. It was only a ten minute drive to our favorite beach, and Coffee Waves down the street became a quick favorite for us.
In regards to the guest house, this has to be one of the most tranquil, lovely places I've stayed. It's very spacious, clean, and comfortable, and we wanted for nothing. I highly recommend this place for anyone coming through Corpus Christi, you'd be hard pressed to do better!
The Casita was lovely and accomodated my relatives and I perfectly. The pictures say it all, this is a great little guest house surrounded by an awesome garden. Connor and Constance were great hosts and easy to communicate with. Bring some CDs for the stereo!
