Lamma is said to be the antithesis of Hong Kong. A place for artists and writers, designers and creative people all around. It's a truly lovely getaway from a busy day sight seeing in Hong Kong.
Just down the street are boutique shops, organic grocers and local market stalls, which are a perfect place to pick up some groceries before heading back home to cook a tasty, fresh meal. Alternatively, there are many waterfront restaurants and beach-side bbq pits if you feel like staying out on the island.
The island (email hidden), with loads of trees, birds and wild life. The flat is about 5 minutes walk to the beach, with hiking and jogging trails just outside of the front door.
The Island is a very multicultural place with many expat living here. Restaurants of all different flavours - Thai, Indian, Chinese, Western and fusion - are all minutes walk from the flat.
The Yung Shue Wan Ferry will get you to and from HK in 20 minutes. The ferry drops you off at the Central Ferry Terminal, the main ferry terminal in Hong Kong, located just seconds from IFC and Central MTR.
Other Things to Note
Please note, there is no couch. There are two big floor pillows that can be used for lounging instead.

I received an e-mail from Jessica at 7 am in the morning of the same day I was supposed to travel and check in at her place. Jessica thought the attachment (pdf with instructions), went through and it didn't. I kept on asking about how to get to her place and she didn't respond as she was travelling. I called and wrote to Jessica, cause she never told me she was on the plane. She responded at 12.16 am my time and sent me the instructions, but as it was already past the check in time and I was still at home - we agreed with Jessica to cancel one night. Jessica said the attachment didn't go through cause I was checking my mail on the phone. But I did check it on the computer as well and both airbnb mail and gmail notifications had no attachments.
I reviewed the pdf with instructions sent by gmail which seemed very clear. I didn't know that there were supposed to be more pages in the pdf she sent as she suggested later. All I got was 14 pages which don't include the wifi information. Jessica first suggested there was a word file than she said I should scroll down the pdf, but there was never any word file attached and the pdf has no instructions there.
I wrote to Jessica from a cafe we had a free wifi at, that there are no wifi instructions in the house on the wall (as most of the airbnb hosts do). I was in that cafe only 30-40 minutes more since I wrote as I had no idea when Jessica would write back and I used all internet I needed. Jessica sent me an hour later all the instructions by pasting them into the body of the mail, but it was already too late as I went back to her place without the internet and I was leaving the next day anyway.
I am very concerned about Jessica's attitude as a host:
a. It is not my fault I didn't get instructions in time.
b. It is not my fault she doesn't know her files are not having full information at least what I got from her was not full.
c. She was cooperative but clearly annoyed.
I don't really care about her family situation, her travel plans and her current local time. I only wanted to use the apartment I paid for at the time I paid for it and not to have to listen to her complains, as I have no interest in lying or not fully reading what she sends. I was willing to find her apartment, use the wifi, so trust me I really looked for that information carefully.
I am not recommending her as a host, cause there can be problems, like time difference and technical issues or other private issues of the host, but there is no reason to be unkind. Too bad, cause her place is really great.
Jessica's place is bright, airy and beautiful - I loved it! The huge bay windows were the best thing, letting in fresh breezes while allowing us to fully enjoy the greenery outside. The apartment itself is very close to all the main shops and restaurants on Lamma Island, and is only a 5 min walk to the pier for easy access to the rest of HK. For those who want a rest from the bustling city and to see a different side of Hong Kong, this is a great place!
The apartment is just like on the pictures, clean and spacious. The location is great, everything is close by. The description to get to the apartment was very easy and accurate. Getting the key was no problem. The apartment has everything you need. Jessica was very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay on Lamma.
Jessica's place in Lamma Island was exactly as posted. It was a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. It was quiet, away from the busier parts of Lamma but easily walkable. We enjoyed our stay. The wifi and a/c and shower all worked and it was a great experience for us.
The apartment was lovely and in a great location just 5 mins from town. We didn't meet Jessica but all the instructions were clear. Would definitely recommend!
Jessica was a great host. Very helpful and friendly over email. We enjoy the das at her place. It was a relaxing and beautiful experience. Jessica's place is modern and full of light, in the evening cosy. It's furnished sleek and tasteful. And the location is very convenient.
very nice apartment of Jessica, chic and modern. Jessica is very friendly and helpful every time, although she is currently not in Larmma. good view of the mountain hill from the window, and good location, only 5 mins from the Yung Shue Wan Pier. very easy to go to Central every day. Very quiet and nice experience escaping from the daily busy living in the city. high recommend to every one who is going to Hongkong for holidays.
About the Host, Jessica
I am a writer traveling the world and loving every minute of it. I am Canadian, but have this beautiful house in Hong Kong that I use as a place to reset after non-stop travel. Its a perfect home-office, or if you need it - a place to forget that you even have an office in the first place.
