The 1 rule is: Please do not smoke inside the house. We have ash trays in the patio and we would be most grateful if guests will abide by this.
We are 2 brothers who live in different continents growing up (US and Australia), and we decided to move to Bali together in late 2012. Right now, we decide to see a bit of the world together, so while we are traipsing the world, we are renting out our house in Bali. As the adage goes, a friend in need is a friend indeed, and we count ourselves blessed and lucky to have our friend, Sarah, who would be helping us checking-in/out guests while we are not in Bali. Sarah speaks Indonesian, English, and Italian!
Any information left out or something else you would like to know about? Please feel free to ask and we'll happily get back to you as soon as we can!
The only rule that we have is that our guests do not smoke inside the house.
The best stay ever!!! The apartment was clean and right in the middle of everything. We were welcomed by Sarah and she is a blessing. Whenever we had a question she was there for us.Thank you again for that ;) we had a wonderful time....highly recommended!!!!
Perfect apartment for my few weeks of relaxation! Wifi great, kept very clean, plenty of tv channels, full kitchen and great location. Hendro and Wanto were very helpful over emails and Sarah was always available whenever I needed her! Lovely place to stay.
I love this place! It truly feels like my second home. I have nothing bad to say about the place or the host/staff. It really has everything you need and the location is perfect for exploring the Kuta/Seminyak/Canggu area. It's clean and quiet here, you will not find another place with all the amenities in this area for this price. If you are online right now searching for a place to stay, you just found it! I have searched extensively from Uluwatu to Canggu, I have stayed in several other villas in Bali, you will not find all of this for the price you pay here. It's your own private apartment with everything you need and the staff are so sweet and helpful, I cannot say enough good things about Sarah & Kadek. I highly recommend staying here.
Stay in these absolutely extra places. Near to everything, very clean, similar to the picture. charming and most available hosts that I have to know. I will return with great pleasure...
séjourner dans ces lieux absolument extra. Proche de tout, très propre, semblable à la photo. des hôtes charmants et les plus disponibles que j'ai put connaître . J'y retournerai avec grand plaisir...
Absolutely friendly contact and Sara was so kind and helpful as well :-) she gave us a lot of good hints.
The apartment was excactly like the ad.
Absolutely recommended for your stay in kuta!
Thank you very much!
We were first greeted by a driver at the airport who took us straight to the property where we were greeted by Sarah. She welcomed us into our home for our stay in Bali.
Our first impressions were that the place was very clean and had all that we needed for our stay. We hardly used the kitchen apart from getting our morning caffeine in and fridge for our beers. And of course ample supply of drinking water!
Our rooms were cleaned every day to my absolute delight! We always return to a clean room with our bed made and fresh TP in the bathroom and the AC turned on for us. It was like, hotel standard clean and that, to me is one of the most important thing in a rented accommodation - clean sheets, clean bathrooms, AC. We've had some of our best sleeps during our trip. We also had some nights in due to the weather and there was an impressive collection of channels on the TV. We were never bored!
Sarah was very helpful in explaining to us how to get around and helping us with our rental motorcycle. We had an unfortunate incident at the beach one day and Sarah promptly came over to give us some advise which was very nice of her and we appreciated it greatly.
Actually the entire experience started way before we landed in Bali when Wanto, Hendro's brother provided us with an excellent spreadsheet of things to do and places to eat.
The property is in an excellent location. 10 minute walk to the beach and the Legian party strip. The property itself though is very private with its high walls and gate so we felt very secured. I would highly recommend staying with Hendro and I will have no reservations in staying here again on my next venture to Bali.
They say you get what you pay for and this was a very pleasant surprise.
We were met by Sara who first told us "welcome home," making us feel at home and comfortable. She told us all about the neighborhood, best places to eat, and things to do around the apartment. The apartment was very comfortable and exactly as listed, we were very pleased.

It is a perfect combination of price meets quality for massage. It's about Rp. 400,000 for 90 minutes of massage, and it's worth every penny. Need to book at least 1 d(phone number hidden)ce: 0361-736740.
For the price, quality, and quantity, you will be hard pressed to find a better value for Indonesian/Chinese food in Kuta. It's not mind-blowing great food, but it's good and you won't be disappointed
Cheap Indonesian/Chinese/Western food for breakfast/lunch/dinner. The price is great for the quantity that it serves, and the food is good. Many of the guests love this place as well.
This place is actually right on the beach, between Seminyak and Double Six beach, full of colorful umbrellas and bean bags. A great way to watch sunset and enjoy a few drinks at the beach.
This shop is similar to Krisna, but it's really popular among the locals/Indonesians because it sells T-shirts with funny/cheeky expressions (that it produces on its own) in Bahasa Indonesia.
The most popular club in Kuta for tourists: cheap beers and cheap buffet (Rp. 50,000) between 7 and 9 PM every night. Opens until 3 AM. Absolutely packed most nights and can get a bit rowdy at times
A throw back to 50s era in the US. It plays old classic 50s music, and it serves food typically served in diners in the US. The burgers are good, but I typically come here for the breakfast.
It's a mall right in front of Kuta Beach, next to Sheraton Hotel. It's just like any other mall, but some visitors are movie fanatics, so if you want to catch a movie, this is the best place to go to
Gym - Basic gym at a reasonable price. Pay per visit or buy a monthly pass. It's on the third floor of Supermarket Kawan. Kickboxing/Muay Thai is available on 2nd floor (different establishment).
If you are looking to buy souvenirs from Bali, but too lazy to haggle prices with the stores, go to Krisna. The easiest one to find is on Sunset Road and it will have a huge selection at a good price
Similar set-up like Potato Head or Ku De Ta. A beach club right on Seminyak beach. Drinks are a little on the pricey side, but you get to enjoy sunset right by the beach.
A big authentic Chinese restaurant. Try Dim Sum here. It has a decent variety of dim sum available and the price is not too expensive either.
A great place to bring kids to enjoy a leisure day out. Adults will also enjoy the place as it features many rides and slides. There's also a restaurant in the park. Opens at 9 AM daily.
It's a restaurant on weeknights, club on Fridays and Saturdays. Relatively quiet on weeknights, but packed on weekends. They have guest DJ's every month. A more upscale clubs than the ones in Kuta
One of more well known warungs (small food stalls) in Seminyak area. Good food. It used to be cheaper back in the days, but it's still not too bad for the quality and quality that you get.
Vegatarian and vegan dishes are available here. Opens from 7 AM until 11 PM. Great food at good price. Portion is pretty big too.
Gay bar. There's a drag show every 15 minutes starting from 10 PM until 2 AM. Campy, cheesy, but really fun. Look out for Monica, the best drag queen in town (and a good many other places too!).
Plays Latin music. Go to this place for dancing and drinks. It's never that packed (most of the time), so it's nice if you are looking for a bit of dancing without being crammed into small space.
Spa is on the expensive side (about USD 100 per person after tax). The massage is good, but you definitely pay more for the ambiance. It also offers yoga classes and that's only about Rp. 100,000
It's one of the most popular restaurants in Bali. It has Balinese dancing between 7 PM and 9 PM for this location. There's another one in Kuta (no Balinese dancing here). Specialty: Nasi Campur.
Indonesian food with Japanese Twist. It does NOT serve sushi, but it has a few Yakitori dishes. Very fast internet connection is provided here as well. Salad is great here too.
It's called SOS (Sunset on Seminyak). Great place to enjoy the sunset. Not as popular as Potato Head, but you don't need to queue to get in either. It's on the 4th floor and you will be on the beach.
Italian restaurant, intimate setting, a great place to have good Italian food, but not as packed with people. Slightly more expensive than most. Jazz night on every Wednesday.
This is THE best suckling pig in town (for my brother and I). I even like this place better than Ibu Oka in Ubud. The place only opens until about 3 PM. Full of locals during lunch hour.
If you want a truly local experience, try doing Karaoke! :) Guests rent a room (so no need to embarrassed :) and sing to your hearts' content. A big selection of English songs on the catalog.
Fusion food (Indonesian and Chinese food with a western twist). Great food, great atmosphere. A little pricey, but worth the money: about USD 30 per pax typically (Food + 1 cocktail).
Absolutely best bang for your buck in Bali. Great food, great quantity, great ambience, low price (about 10 USD per person will be enough, excluding alcohol). Tip: Ask for a table in the garden.
This is THE place to be before Potato Head opened a few years ago. A nice place to hang out and have a drink to chill out and watch sunset. No pool, but the vibe is chill and it's on a beach front.
Huge place, infinity pool and guests can use the pool, beds by the pool. Cocktails are a bit expensive, but beers are reasonable. Also serves food. To get a bed by the pool, spend Rp. 500,000 minimum
Gym - a more upscale facility - yoga and spinning classes are also available (inclusive from the daily or monthly pass). There are 2 locations. This location has a swimming pool as well.
Arguably the best ribs in Bali. This is the second one (first one in Ubud). It's packed most of the time and the ribs is good indeed at a very reasonable price (about Rp. 90,000 for a plate).
A great place to hang out without breaking your bank. Good food (Indonesian and Western food). You will be sitting by the padi fields, and you don't even have to drive 90 minutes to Ubud to enjoy it
Organic food. Very packed around lunch time. Great quality food at a reasonable price. Most of the guests are expatriates or tourists. There's a massage place behind the restaurant too and it's good.
If you are looking for water sports or water activities, this is the place to be. Activities: snorkeling, jet skiing, parasailing, riding on a banana boat, and diving.
You will be having dinner (grilled/steamed/fried seafood) right on the beach and the food is excellent! It gets really packed but worth the wait. This is also the site of the bombing in 2005.
At Ayana Hotel. There's always a line going down to the bar. Elevator to the bar opens at 4 PM. The bar is built on a cliff, and hence the name. Guests at the hotel has priority. Get there by 4 PM.
A great place to bring the kids and enjoy a tour on an elephant or "interact" with the animals up close. Dine at Tsavo Lion restaurant and you will be treated to a beautiful view of the wildlife.
The famous temple by the sea that most people see on brochures for Bali. The myth of Tanah Lot is that if unmarried couple go there, they will end up breaking up! Best to go during sunset or sunrise
Uluwatu Temple is a Hindu temple set on the cliff bank in south part of Bali Peninsula. It is set within a small dry forest that has a lot of monkeys. In the evening, Kecak dance is also shown here.
The most famous suckling pig in Bali. It has 3 locations in Ubud. Go before 3 PM before it sells out. Packed with locals and it's a place to eat and then go. Not a hang out place. Good food!
The original Naughty Nuris, best ribs in Bali. It has the same owner as the one in Batu Belig. Small place, a bit crammed, but it's always packed. Great food at great price (Rp. 90,000 a plate).
Yoga studio in Ubud. Most well known yoga place in Ubud. Big facility tucked behind Sally Siam Thai restaurant. It has a class at the top of the hour every hour. It also has a vegetarian/vegan cafe
One of the must try food in Ubud. It's crispy duck, very popular among Indonesians visitors, and the restaurant is set in the middle of padi fields. Good food.. about USD 15 per person for a meal
Great food, great ambience without breaking your bank in Ubud. It's on Monkey Forest street. Looks small from the front, but it has an expansive and nicely decorated place at the back.
Goa Gajah's literal translation is Elephant Cave and it's located in Ubud. There are a lot of reliefs of various menacing creatures and demons carved right into the rock at the cave entrance.
An alternative to Yoga Barn. It's a more intimate setting than Yoga Barn, smaller facility, but it has a class every hour on the top of the hour as well.
French Restaurant in Ubud. Don't be fooled by the Indonesian name. French chef. Price is reasonable, not too cheap, but not overly expensive. A relaxing atmosphere as well. Good food.
Hands down, best coffee in Ubud. The tagline is "Imagine you know what you are doing" (pretty cheeky :) A place to chill out, totally relaxed vibe and great breakfast menu as well. A must try in Ubud
A bit more difficult to find and you will need to walk about 1 km to get to the restaurant, but it does have an amazing selection of organic food in Ubud.
Besakih Temple is the biggest Hindu temple in Bali. It has a beautiful view from the top of temple where we can see a panoramic view all the way to the ocean.
This temple is also known as the water temple because it's located in the mountain lake resort in Bali. Eka Karya Botanic Garden, the largest one in Indonesia, is also located here as well.
Mount Batur volcano is one of the sacred mountains in Bali. Its 1,717 meters elevation can be summited by physically fit hikers in 1.5 hours. With tour services, pick up is at 2:30 AM to see sunrise
