This is a relaxing guestroom in our 3bd/1bath Redding bungalow with a serene backyard. It comfortably fits two (one queen bed) and is centrally located in the historic Garden Tract Neighborhood.
The guest room bed has a new 3" thick memory foam topper, reading nook, and new furnishings.
The bathroom is across the hall from the guest room. Note that our home has one bathroom so it is shared. We typically shower in the morning but try to be in and out quick. :)
We have a lovely, recently remodeled backyard complete with (seasonal) hammock, hot tub, outdoor dining area and gas BBQ, which you are welcome to use as long as you keep it tidy.
Our kitchen is fully-equipped and you are welcome to cook. Breakfast foods will be available - we typically have cereal, fruit, yogurt, coffee & tea.
Wifi is available throughout the home. There is a tv w/cable in the living room. You are also welcome to use our washer and dryer if needed.
Our home does not have central heat and air, however, we do our best to make it comfortable year-round. We have a swamp cooler as well as a new window unit air conditioner in the guest room. In cooler months, we have a wall furnace and fireplace in the general living space and a new space heater in the guest room.
We are typically not able to host people last-minute (with 2 days or fewer lead time), but will try on a case-by-case basis.
LGBT friendly :)
Guests will have access to the bulk of the home - living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and backyard. Unfortunately our garage doesn't fit a car, but we welcome guests to park in our driveway.
We consider ourselves "friendly introverts"; we're happy to provide directions, restaurant recommendations, etc. but will also give you your privacy and quiet time. We do tend to go to bed early so we ask if you are up after 9:30 pm that the volume level is low.
We have a dog, Sally, who is mostly indoors. She is very friendly and LOVES people. She is a non-shedding schnauzer/poodle/mutt mix. She will likely try to get you to play with her.
The quaint Garden Tract neighborhood was established in the 1940s. We love that it is within walking distance of so many things - downtown, the Sundial Bridge and Turtle Bay, Redding's new library, and the Saturday Farmer's Market. There are seniors in the neighborhood who have lived here for decades as well as young families. We've put some of our favorite spaces in the "Guidebook", but others didn't seem to show up, so make sure to ask us. :)
Redding in general is not known for its public transportation, though it is available. Redding does have one of the largest urban trail systems in the country and is known for it's mountain biking.
Megan and Josh were warm and welcoming hosts. Our travels from Portland to Redding took longer than we thought so we got in late, but they were very accommodating and good communicators. Their place is really cute, and the room was clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.
I don't think I can say enough wonderful things about Megan and Josh and their warm, inviting home. We were there for a weekend to run the Redding Marathon, but the real event turned out to be staying here.
The room was spacious, comfortable and so pleasant. The amenities were excellent: everything from coffee in colorful cups in the morning to Megan and Josh sharing their secret stash of Icelandic candy. They even set out some bananas and hydration tablets for us the morning of the marathon! The location is perfect and it's only a short hop to anything you could want, be it hiking, sushi, a health shake or antiquing. Also, did I mention there's a hot tub?
Wonderful place to stay and wonderful people. I can't imagine a better place in Redding or better people to have met. I highly recommend Megan and Josh's place!
What a cute place...makes me want to move my little family to redding and move in next door to Megan and josh and start a little community.
Totally gracious and wonderful given my requirements for a quite evening at home to study for my final boards...which I passed...thanks josh and Megan!!!
We only stayed one night, but I would have love to stay a week or more. The room was lovely, as was the entire house. Megan and Josh was excellent hosts; very warm and friendly. Sally is also warm and friendly!
Easy to find and comfy, cosy bungalow centrally located in Redding. Josh and Megan are very welcoming and easy going. The wireless connection worked great. They answered all our questions and suggested great restaurants. They've done a nice job on the 1946 house - nicely appointed with a comfortable backyard. This works best for 1-2 people. The bathroom is shared but we easily worked this out. The area is quiet and the bed just right.
Megan and Josh are wonderful guests. The accommodations were terrific. Absolutely everything one might need is provided. The bedroom has a nice little library, a comfortable reading chair and a good lamp. Great shower! A nice variety of breakfast items was offered too. Their home is conveniently located not too far away from interstate 5 in a quiet neighborhood. The hot tub looked inviting but I didn't have time to give it a try.
This is a nice place to stay if you are spending time in the Redding area or just passing through.
We had an AMAZINGLY comfortable stay in Megan & Josh's lovely home. The bed was comfy and had really soft jersey sheets. They thoughtfully left out water and bath items for our late night arrival.
I had all the comforts and items that I like to have in my own home (like kale in the fridge and witch hazel in the bathroom!), so it really felt like home to me...Megan even makes homemade bath products like a sugar body scrub and shared the recipe with me!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! <3
Megan and Josh are terrific hosts and incredibly kind. Sally, their dog, is wonderful and affectionate. Everything from arriving to leaving was enjoyable.
Their place is terrifically decorated and the bedroom feels completely new. It's close to the downtown area so restaurants are easily accessible in a few minute drive.
Megan and Josh - and their place - are what AirBnB strives to be. I would not hesitate to stay at their place again when in Redding.
