About this listing
Charming bungalow with friendly hosts and their loveable pooch will help you feel at home in their neighborhood and town.
This is a relaxing guestroom in our 3bd/1bath Redding bungalow with a serene backyard. It comfortably fits two (one queen bed) and is centrally located in the historic Garden Tract Neighborhood.
The guest room bed has a new 3" thick memory foam topper, reading nook, and new furnishings.
The bathroom is across the hall from the guest room. Note that our home has one bathroom so it is shared. We typically shower in the morning but try to be in and out quick. :)
We have a lovely, recently remodeled backyard complete with (seasonal) hammock, hot tub, outdoor dining area and gas BBQ, which you are welcome to use as long as you keep it tidy.
Our kitchen is fully-equipped and you are welcome to cook. Breakfast foods will be available - we typically have cereal, fruit, yogurt, coffee & tea.
Wifi is available throughout the home. There is a tv in the living room. You are also welcome to use our washer and dryer if needed.
Our home does not have central heat and air, however, we do our best to make it comfortable year-round. We have a swamp cooler as well as a new window unit air conditioner in the guest room. In cooler months, we have a wall furnace and fireplace in the general living space and a new space heater in the guest room.
We are typically not able to host people last-minute (with 2 days or fewer lead time), but will try on a case-by-case basis.
LGBT friendly :)
Guests will have access to the bulk of the home - living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and backyard. Unfortunately our garage doesn't fit a car, but we welcome guests to park in our driveway.
Interaction with Guests
We consider ourselves "friendly introverts"; we're happy to provide directions, restaurant recommendations, etc. but will also give you your privacy and quiet time. We do tend to go to bed early so we ask if you are up after 9:30 pm that the volume level is low.
We have a dog, Sally, who is mostly indoors. She is very friendly and LOVES people. She is a non-shedding schnauzer/poodle/mutt mix. She will likely try to get you to play with her.
The quaint Garden Tract neighborhood was established in the 1940s. We love that it is within walking distance of so many things - downtown, the Sundial Bridge and Turtle Bay, Redding's new library, and the Saturday Farmer's Market. There are seniors in the neighborhood who have lived here for decades as well as young families. We've put some of our favorite spaces in the "Guidebook", but others didn't seem to show up, so make sure to ask us. :)
Redding in general is not known for its public transportation, though it is available. Redding does have one of the largest urban trail systems in the country and is known for it's mountain biking.
We typically work 8 am-5 pm, M-F, so may need some flexibility around check-in and check-out times during the workweek.
