My Apartment is in the most exclusive apartment block in Derry.
Located right on the riverfront, with the floor-to-ceiling windows and balcony overlooking the Foyle Marina (home to the Foyle Maritime Festival every summer).
Central location: Only 3 or 4 minutes stroll along the river to the iconic peace-bridge, ideal for the city-centre pubs and almost next door to the best restaurants in Derry.
The University of Ulster main entrance is behind the apartments on the other side of the Strand Road.
The central bus station on Foyle Street is a simple and 5 minute walk along the riverfront footpath, even with rolling suitcases. From here there is

Lovely flat - great location - Stephen very helpful - would highly recommend
Thank you Wendy for your kind words and very positive review. I am glad you both loved the apartment and its spectacular views over the river Foyle and Derry city-centre. Extra pleased to have welcomed a fellow Celt all the way from Scotland! Happy travels and best wishes. Is mine le means/from me to you with respect, Stephen McPhilemy.
Stephen was very easy to communicate with. The apartment was located in a beautiful area, with great views of the river. We really loved Derry and would definitely recommend Stephens place!
Amazing apartment, great host, great city. Would definitely stay at this apartment again!
The apartment was as described. Great view, convenient location :) Will use again if the opprotunity arises
I'm going to start off by saying the apartment is really stunning. It's big, has incredible views and is overall a really lovely apartment. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is nice, the living area is lovely and there are two bathrooms (though one really only has a bathtub, no shower) I think the problem is the upkeep.
I didn't have any communication with Stephen until the day we were supposed to arrive as he had forgotten to respond to my previous emails. He was out of town so we were directed to pick up the keys at a nearby hostel, which was fine though the staff were unable to answer our question about the secure parking building or the directions.
For the most part it was fine as we could use google maps to get there, however it still took a while to locate the parking building. When we got inside we had no idea what floor we were supposed to park on, or which door we had to use to get to our apartment. The first few floors are reserved for the shops nearby. It took half an hour and trying almost every door in the parking building before Stephen confirmed we needed to be on floor J. It was worth it when we got to the apartment however as the amazing view and the spacious apartment cheered us up.
It would be good if there was information listed in the AirBNB itinerary or house manual as we had no instructions other than the vague messages we received on the day. When we started looking around the apartment we noticed a few things - there was trash in the bins - used cotton buds, tissues etc, rubbish left under the beds and hair all over the shelves and sink in the bathroom. The fridge was dirty and most of the plates, bowls and glasses were still in the dishwasher.
We had four people for the apartment. Two couples. One of the double beds were fine, but the other only had a single duvet which wasn't ideal at all. We were also only given two towels between the four of us which was annoying. As we were only there for the one night, we didn't bother making a fuss, but given we'd paid for the accommodation we did expect it to at least be clean and have the necessities provided for us.
As I said, it's a really lovely apartment, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again or to recommend it because it's comfortable, the views are amazing and it's really well located, I just think the experience would be greatly improved by having the necessities and clear instructions.
Beautiful location downtown in Derry; we loved our stay at Stephen's apartment. We had issues with the water/heat at first as it was off but Stephen quickly gave us access to water heater once we messaged about it and this was resolved. The beds were very comfortable and everything quite clean. The view from the balcony was top notch. I'd definitely recommend! WIFI worked superbly so the 3 kiddos were happy! Our arrival was a little late so we didn't meet Stephen, but he arranged for pickup of the keys at another local location no problems. Great communication which I find is always key to a positive AirBnB experience.
We were met by Eileen on behalf of our host and she gave us a friendly welcome after directing us to the apartment. What a stunning outlook over the harbour and a great location for exploring Derry.

About the Host, Stephen
I was born in Derry and have runsuccessful and award-winning tourist-accommmodation for over 10 years.
I am lucky enough to own a luxury river-front Apartment and also a 7 bedroom Townhouse, both in the city-centre; which I rent out to couples, familes and vacationing professionals on short-term stays.
Sometimes (website hidden) guests who are Students, Professors or Professionals come and stay for longer at my properties, one even booked for 3 months!
The apartment is very high-end and and luxurious. It really has the 'wow-factor'.
You pay more and you get more!
I work as a professional tour-guide with US travel TV star, Rick Steves.
This year I had the honour of being one of 4 judges in a very high-profile competition organised by our national newspaper, the Irish Times - my job was to use my expertise to decide "The Best Place to Holiday in Ireland!"
To stay true to my backpacking roots, I decided to open up my 7 bedroom Townhouse in the exclusive 'Lawrence Hill' area (city-centre, 1 minute from the University) to budget-conscious visitors, who basically want a cheap room with a great location. These rooms are £25-£50 depending on whether it is 2 or 6 people in the room, some of the rooms are HUGE, and ensuite.
The Lawrence Hill property is quite lovely in my honest opinion, but several of the guests there have proved a little harder to please.
Most think it is a great place and excellent value for money, i just need you to know that it is a room for a cheap price, it is not Buckingham Palace, nor does it have the wow-factor of my riverfront apartment, But for the price, most guests think its great, check out the pics on my airbnb.com listing.
I will be happy welcome you to any of my lovely properties and to help introduce to you my beloved home region of Derry/Donegal.
Needless to say, free Travel tips/advice is my speciality
