Private wood-fired sauna in the woods
A wood-fired sauna steps from the tiny home, surrounded by forest on all sides
Restorative stays and a thoughtful host
Guests describe the stay as peaceful and restorative, with many praising Vanessa's thoughtful hosting
Welcome to Boreal Camp, a minimalist tiny home & sauna nestled in the forest. A place of ultimate privacy, perfect for a writer's retreat or a couple's getaway.
Sanctuary may look like savoring a wood fired sauna then rinsing off under the Big Dipper, laying in a hammock by the stream and starting a new book, or listening to your favorite album over and over again.
Minimalism is our north star. As the world gets busier we invite you to take life at a slower pace...bienvenue!
The space
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, our tiny home embodies the essence of Scandinavian design.
Made by Nordic & Spruce, the home measures 30 ft by 8 ft.
Step inside and you are enveloped in a serene ambiance. The interior wood, elegantly whitewashed, radiates simplicity and warmth. Original artwork, made by Vanessa, adorns the walls and is available for purchase to be taken home for your own art collection and lasting memories of your time at Boreal Camp.
The home's exterior seamlessly blends aesthetics and durability. The frosted black steel frame embracing rich cedar panels—a visual delight paired with the boreal forest panorama.
Listen to 50's jazz and cook dinner in the simple, sleek kitchenette. It is compact but efficient and meant for cooking actual real meals.
Languish under a lovely hot shower, read a book on the cozy couch and sleep deep in a massive king bed.
Hot water, electricity and internet is at your fingertips. Ours is a cozy world that has the things you need and nothing you don't.
Sleeping wise, the tiny home can comfortably fit 2 adults and a child. During the warmer months folks are welcome to sleep under the stars or pitch a tent on the wooden platform located by the fire pit. Bring sleeping bags and headlamps and the sounds of the surrounding forest will lull you into sleep.
Our property is located on 22 forested acres.. The driveway is 200 meters long with the tiny home at the end so it truly is a private world.
You are welcome to walk the woods and take the path to the stream but please do not go off trail, the forest is thick and primordial and cell service is spotty at best.
Lastly, please respect the privacy of our lovely neighbors. Do not go onto their land or make loud sounds past 9pm. This part of the world values privacy and respect for others also making their home in this forested landscape.
WINTER
Isolated ruggedness is what defines Boreal Camp and makes it special. Many of us live in a digital world but life at Boreal Camp is different, it's analog. During the winter months, always be prepared for ice, snow and cold. If snow falls during your stay, some light shoveling on the path from the tiny home to the driveway and the sauna may be necessary and a shovel will always be outside the front door. The driveway may get plowed during your stay if it gets particularly gnarly snow-wise. Please come with your heart prepared for winter. Depending on the weather this place may ask for some grittiness but show up with a little rugged spirit and you will have the best time!!
Guest access
Guests have full access to the tiny home and sauna.
Enjoy the privacy and calming power of being surrounded by 22 private acres of boreal forest all around you.
Other things to note
Excellent gravel biking awaits you right outside your doorstep. This part of Vermont is rife with meandering dirt roads literally in every direction. In addition, access to the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail is only 2 miles away! Whether you are a pro or a beginner you will have a dreamy time taking in the Vermont countryside on your bike.
And some of our favorite places are so close by!
Caspian Lake Public Beach/Willey's Store/Miller's Thumb Gallery: 4.6 miles (sparkling clean lake, general store with everything, gorgeous art gallery)
Lamoille Valley Rail Trail access parking lot: 2 miles (discover 93 miles of quintessential Vermont along New England's longest rail trail!)
Hill Farmstead Brewery: 7.7 miles (world class brewery)
Buffalo Mountain Co-op: 8.8 miles (yummy healthy food market)
Bread & Puppet: 13.8 miles (world class paper mache puppet museum with summer performances)
Please note that, during the winter months, 4WD vehicles equipped with winter tires are needed to drive around safely in this part of the world. In addition, GPS and cell service is most often non-existent. Rural life is the best but it comes with added personal responsibility to plan and prepare accordingly.
