House - Entire home/apt · Walea Road, Pāhoa, HI 96778, United States

Our newly remodeled 2 /1 located within walking distance to the Waiopae Tide Pools will start you off on a relaxing Hawaii vacation.
There is a large covered lanai overlooking our garden which includes limes, lillikoi, and mangoes (when in season).

The Space

This recently renovated 2 bedroom/1 bath features queen sized beds in each bedroom and a queen sized futon for comfortable additional sleeping capacity. Each bedroom has a ceiling fan and the lanai offers two ceiling fans activated by remote control. The second floor residency gives you plenty of trade wind breezes and the deck has lots of room for lounging about after a swim or snorkle at the Waiopae tide pools, which is just moments away by foot. (1st floor is owner's locked storage only). Also, it's just a short 10 minute drive to the black sand beach at Kehena or even closer, to Ahalanui Park's relaxing warm pond.

During your stay, expect the weather to be between 85 (summer day time high) and 65 (winter night time low). Yes, here in paradise, the temperature tends to stay within an extremely pleasant range. Most days and nights are between 70 and 83 degrees. Leave your winter clothes at home and spend your days swimming, sunbathing, enjoying ice cold drinks in the balmy breeze and taking moonlit walks through the neighborhood with a a dazzling starry sky as your canopy.

Pahoa is only a short drive of about 12 minutes and features restaurants, shopping and a fresh fish market.

See all the Big Island has to offer during your stay - hike (email hidden) volcano lava flow, visit Uncle Robert's Place on Wednesday nights to take in modern Hawaiian music or a possible hula, cruise to the high altitudes of the mountains to see the observatories and spectacular views, find the island's gorgeous waterfalls or track down the very rare and breathtaking splendor of a green sand beach at Papakolea Beach AKA Green Sands!

Or don't even bother to leave this tropical home away from home at all and enjoy a soak in the two person jacuzzi tub while sipping a glass of fresh mango juice or a cocktail!

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • We had tried to book another place to stay in Kopoho and through a miscommunication, we ended up booking with Aaron. He and Cat, his agent, were very accommodating and his property is exceptional. It is in an excellent location and was very comfortable for our group of four adults. We spent most of our time on the lanai in the picture. It has two nice fans that provide that nice tropical breeze we mainlanders all crave! A well thought out counter for outside eating was used every day. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with everything our expert cook friends needed to prepare excellent meals. The shower was really nice too! Walking 5 minutes to the Kopoho tide pools allowed us to get in the water at least twice a day. I highly recommend Aaron's place and hope to return someday! Well done!

  • Our stay in Aaron's house was great. The location is amazing, definitely off-the-beaten-path and away from everything in an area most tourists will never visit. Makes it even better! You are very close to some spectacular natural wonders, surrounded by very friendly people, some native, some drifters, and you have very comfortable accommodations. You will have to be more prepared than you would be if staying in a hotel, but the pay-off is so worth it. The coqui frogs start at sundown and sing to you all night. This, coupled with the sound of the ocean, is a magical treat. This house would be great for a couple looking to escape together or a small family looking to travel outside the norm of a hotel. The tide pools are a very short walk away and were the highlight of my 4 year old son's trip. Older kids and adults would enjoy some fantastic snorkeling.

We had one issue upon "check-in" that was taken care of within an hour by Cathy, whom I believe manages the property. I had to call her an additional time to ask a question and she answered her phone immediately. She was very quick to tend to us.

Absolutely a fantastic experience! Thank you for opening your house to us, Aaron.

  • lovely place, exactly as pictured. everything is new and location next to tidepools is wonderful. Go to the main Kapoho tidepools in walking distance (5 mins), skip the champagne pond. The ones near the home are lovely and all joined together for a full day or 2 of snorkeling. nice bath, very nice outdoor eating area on lanai with ceiling fans. Would be great to have a wash machine, but you can hanbd wash and hang on the lanai, very easy.

    Response from Aaron:

Thank you! We hope to see you again! So easy to work with you!

  • This place was inviting and cheerful and private. the furnishings were nice enough. There were a few issues that we didn't want to deal with: water leaking onto the bathroom floor, massive cockroaches visiting us at night, and there were N O laundry facilities, not even a clothes line to dry the towels. otherwise it was pleasant and we were comfortable and the neighborhood seems safe enough. it is a long way to a town from here. take everything you need with you. secluded and restful is the word here.

    Response from Aaron:

The house is located in a tropical rainforest. We do all we can to eradicate bugs but if doors are left open, especially at night, bugs will come in towards the lights.

On our contact page lists there are NO laundry (i.e Washer and dryer) facilities so it is important that the guest read the information about amenities available before they reserve. In the future we will be upgrading with a washer and dryer but the ETA is unknown.

Also to note - we did not charge Lodema for the stains made by her child with pens/markers. Typically we try to not charge for many items but we were not a little unhappy that this notification was not received before Lodema left so we could discuss it.

  • The home was perfectly lovely. Beautiful cool deck to "hang out" on. Great kitchen facilities and very comfortable beds. Everyone in the general area was friendly and introduced themselves as we walked around the area. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. My second rental through Airbnb, but not my last!! I have already recommended them to many friends.

Aloha, I'm Aaron. a 31 year old veteran from Buffalo, NY. The Army brought me to Hawaii in early 2001 and when I finished I moved over to the Big Island. I ended up falling in love with Kapoho and vowed to retire there. I purchased my house in late 2007 and have worked extremely hard to make it what it is today- and a part of my ideal for tomorrow. I'm a very easy going guy who is really into gardening and just being out in the Ocean any way I can. swimming, fishing, floating, or sunning, I'm there! I try to share the Aloha in all of my travels, and I like to think that I've brought it all back to my house for everyone to enjoy too! Mahalo for considering my property, I hope you can enjoy my home in Kapoho as much as I do! E Komo Mai! ;) Cathy is my property manager and you will communicate with her for reservations and any needs you may have during your stay. Little thank you to all of the people in my life that have helped, pushed, pulled, and otherwise positively effected me. Much love!
