Kapoho "Vacationland," is a small community nestled at the very eastern tip of the Big Island. Fronting the Wai'Opae Marine Reserve, this low-key and friendly community boasts the most amazing sunrises, the constant roar of the ocean, legendary trade-winds, a night sky seen only in a few places on the globe, and access to one of Hawaii's most unique snorkling spots. It's the perfect neighorhood to base your quiet Hawaiian holiday from.
Whether it's to get away from it all or to see a different side of Hawaii, this secluded neighborhood is for you!
Although there is a bus stop at the entrance to the subdivision (which is limited in scope), it is highly recommended to rent a 4x4 vehicle to really see and experience the Big Island.
Smoking is allowed, but on the Lanai only.
Aaron’s listing hardly does his place justice! It is a fantastic retreat in the middle of a jungle oasis with all the amenities that made us feel right at home. The kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms are fully stocked, and the snorkeling gear available downstairs was a great perk - we loved it while exploring the tide pools that were walking distance from the house. The lanai was our absolute favorite spot. We enjoyed breakfast there every morning and relaxed after long days of exploring each night. Also, Kylie downstairs was incredibly friendly and helpful. She helped us with any questions and had great recommendations for fun things to do and see in the island. Overall, we had an incredible experience that we hope we can repeat soon. If you want to stay in a beautiful, calm and comfortable place on the Big Island, I highly recommend Aaron’s spot.
Your place was everything we could have asked for. Close to the tide pools, black sand beach, snorkeling and the quiet "off-grid" experience we needed.
Sadly, we didn't use the beach cruiser but did take advantage of the snorkel gear, thank you!
The newly remodeled condo had everything we needed and the Lanai provided the perfect place take our cooked meals and enjoy the sound of the ocean.
I would recommend Aaron's place for anyone wanting to get away from the daily grind and sleep to the sound of waves!
Where to begin....this place is awesome. As an Airbnb Superhost in Los Angeles, I was immediately impress with this listing. Very spacious for a couple and probably for a family of 4 too. Beautiful neighborhood, so close to Tide Pools. The onsite staff lives downstairs and Kylie was one of the nicest people we've met. She gave us privacy but was around when needed. You will definitely need a rental car as there's no public transportation and if you need anything for your stay, e.g. wine, beer, food, it's at least a 10min drive into town, Pāhoa. All in all, this place is great. I will be back!
The reservation was canceled 30 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Loved our stay in Kapaho so much we had to extend an extra night. The place is exactly as advertised. The proximity to all the best attractions can't be beat. The lagoon, the tide pools, driving along the coast on 137 and if your lucky you might see a whale (we actually saw two!). We're already trying to figure out when we can return.
This place is great! Located a 5-minute walk from the tide pools and equidistant from Hilo and Volcanoes NP, the house is set in a quiet, beautiful Pahoa neighborhood. The photos accurately depict the house, but what they don't show is the extremely well-supplied kitchen. After a trip to Hilo Farmers Market, my boyfriend and I made great use of it by cooking all of our meals there. The lanai was awesome- wish we had spent more time relaxing on it! Thanks, Aaron!
About the Host, Aaron
Aloha, I'm Aaron. a 31 year old veteran from Buffalo, NY. The Army brought me to Hawaii in early 2001 and when I finished I moved over to the Big Island. I ended up falling in love with Kapoho and vowed to retire there. I purchased my house in late 2007 and have worked extremely hard to make it what it is today- and a part of my ideal for tomorrow.
I'm a very easy going guy who is really into gardening and just being out in the Ocean any way I can. swimming, fishing, floating, or sunning, I'm there! I try to share the Aloha in all of my travels, and I like to think that I've brought it all back to my house for everyone to enjoy too!
Mahalo for considering my property, I hope you can enjoy my home in Kapoho as much as I do! E Komo Mai! ;)
Little thank you to all of the people in my life that have helped, pushed, pulled, and otherwise positively effected me. Much love!
