We ask that our guests treat our home with the same care they would use in their own home. When you leave, please leave it tidy with clean dishes in the kitchen. And enjoy the spectacular beauty of Murren!
We had such a great four-night stay in the Chalet Snowbird Studio! We arrived in Murren late at night, and Nancy was kind enough to provide detailed instructions so that we could easily find the place. In the morning, we woke up to the most incredible view of the mountains! We loved the studio- it was clean, spacious, and very well-appointed. The kitchen is advertised as small, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that it was well-stocked with quality cookware- everything we needed to cook our meals (there was a very reasonably priced grocery store nearby). And we loved Murren- it's a very cute town and a great home base for stunningly beautiful hikes. It was hard to leave Murren and this studio, but we hope to visit again soon!
The location was dramatically beautiful. The facilities were clean and comfortable - just what one would hope a chalet would be. Without question we will stay there again if we have opportunity.
Climbing the stairs to the chalet is challenging but well worth the effort.
Nancy was very responsive both before our visit and the one time we needed to contact her while there. The couple who watch the chalet for her went out of their way to be helpful.
We had a wonderful stay at the Chalet Snowbird Studio! The view was incredible and everything was just as described. It was the perfect home base for exploring the mountains and was just the right size for my husband, baby, and I. Nancy was easy to communicate with and quick to respond to any of my questions. Our stay in Murren will be something we remember and treasure for a long time! We would not hesitate to stay at one of Nancy's chalets again.
What a beautiful apartment! The hosts and caretakers were VERY available to my questions before and after arriving. I stayed there with my two children (ages 4 and 7). We comfortably made all of our meals at home and had plenty of space to play and relax. I highly recommend staying at any of their homes listed on this site. :-)
The location of the chalet was fantastic and if it hadn't been for the fog we would have had an amazing time walking through the village of Murren and even taking the ride upto Schilthorn.
The chalet it self was quite cosy however it is quite a trip to get to. We were fortunte to bump into somebody on the street who guided us through to the correct path as the directions were not entirely correct on the guide.
The local property manager never answered the phone and was never to be seen during our stay. It was also unfortunate that whilst building the chalet they didn't add any windows to the room upstairs as it became quite a fernace and we had to leave the main door open on the first night.
We are sorry that your experience was not as good as expected. We have reviewed our directions after hearing of your problem, and they are entirely correct. The phone that was not answered must have been the "land line". The Manager indicated that no call came from you onto his cell number, which he always carries and answers. That cell number was provided to to you. He passed you on the path twice and tried to talk with you in his usual friendly way. You looked the other way, he said, and said nothing.
There are 2 south-facing windows for the upstairs room and they both open.
You had your own thermostat for this apartment. Someone in your group set it to 78F degrees...so you must have been warm. That was not our fault. Next time you are too warm in a hotel or chalet rental, seek out the thermostat as they can do wonders.
It can snow in the alps in spring and autumn. Usually people love the coziness of this weather, to hang out, read, visit by the fire, catch up on emails, play cards or board game. There are great restaurants and shops plus the free Olympic swimming pool at the nearby Sports Center for inclement weather days. We are glad that one of your two days in Murren was sunny and clear!
We think $175 for 3 people with a kitchen
is inexpensive. Others tell us what a great deal this is. Sorry you found it expensive".

About the Host, Nancy And Beat
My Swiss born (Murren!) Olympic skier husband, Beat, and I live in Salt Lake City where I am a Travel Consultant and he is a Ski Area Planner. We have 2 children. He grew up in Murren's 4* Hotel Eiger. At his parent's death, he inherited 2 superb view building lots on the north edge of the Village of Murren. During 2011 and 2012 he has built two chalets, now available for rent. We are avid skiers/hikers. Our family cherishes the extraordinary scenery and village atmosphere of Murren. We're excited to introduce/share it with other skiers/hikers/seekers of Peace, harmony and clean air! Nancy von Allmen
