  • We enjoyed our first stay in Murren. The view from the village and from the chalet on the Eiger-Mönch-Jungfrau is tremendous. The lower floor flat is well built with a large agreable living room.

Nancy answered our few questions promptly.

  • Overall: Recommended. The Lower Snowbird Apartment is finely crafted and nicely equipped. Mürren is beautiful and Nancy and Beat are as nice as they come.

Apartment: The Lower Snowbird Apartment is large with plenty of room to unpack, settle in, and enjoy the Jungfrau region. The walls are covered in rich, fresh cedar boasting a fragrance true to the region but strong, so some people may be sensitive to it. Water pressure in the shower was outstanding and the kitchen tap water tasted like it was bottled water. Warm radiant floor heating was perfect for cold toes in the morning, though I wish it reached to the bedroom in the back corner of the apartment. The best way we found to keep the unit warm was to make good use of the wood stove, which I believe helps the floor heating at night when the solar panels on the roof have no sun. It's good to note that even though the unit is on the ground floor, it has amazing views through the main windows on the front. However, there are no curtains, and these front windows look out towards the path leading up to the Chalet, so anyone walking up to the building or along the front has a clear eye-level view into the apartment. This didn't bother us, but is worth mentioning because if you prefer more privacy, you may feel better opting for the upper apartment instead. Also, the walls are a little thin, and we could easily hear cell phones ringing from the upper unit and studio next door as well as the boots/high heels from above too, but again, it wasn't much of a bother especially since we spent much of our days out exploring. At night, things are quiet and peaceful and the bed, while firm, is comfortable and welcoming after a long day of hiking.

Hosts: While we never got to meet Nancy, she was very nice and attentive to all of our communication. When asked for a bit more detail on directions she responded quickly and clearly setting our minds at ease before we boarded our train from Munich. Beat had a charming and friendly smile the first time we met that never left his face during our stay. If we needed anything, he was there to help, and he was more than happy to answer any questions we had about Mürren and the surrounding region.

  • We had a great time in the chalet. Having space to spread out, a washing machine, and kitchen was wonderful. The views were great.

  • The chalet was beautiful and very comfortable for us. The views were incredible. Well located close to the train station, the chalet was a pleasure to return to each night with it's well appointed kitchen and wonderful atmosphere.

  • Our stay in Murren was perfect, starting with checking into the Chalet Snowbird. The apartment was very clean, uncluttered, tastefully furnished and most of all comfortable for our stay. There are windows facing the beautiful mountains that offer the most magnificent views. Peaceful, exhilarating, and stunning are three words to best describe this vacation. The town of Murren is a perfect destination for summer and offers you endless hiking and day trip possibilities. If given a choice of transport up to the apartment, the train is much closer than the gondola.

My Swiss born (Murren!) Olympic skier husband, Beat, and I live in Salt Lake City where I am a Travel Consultant and he is a Ski Area Planner. We have 2 children. He grew up in Murren's 4* Hotel Eiger. At his parent's death, he inherited 2 superb view building lots on the north edge of the Village of Murren. During 2011 and 2012 he has built two chalets, now available for rent. We are avid skiers/hikers. Our family cherishes the extraordinary scenery and village atmosphere of Murren. We're excited to introduce/share it with other skiers/hikers/seekers of Peace, harmony and clean air! Nancy von Allmen
