This brand new chalet is perched above the car free village of MURREN in the Bernese Oberland outside charming Interlaken. The apartment is the lower floor of the chalet with a spacious living/dining room and large windows that look across the spectacular Lauterbrunnen Valley with its 72 waterfalls to the North Face of the Eiger and the Jungfrau Massif. It offers the best view of any chalet rental in Murren. The Master Bedroom has a king bed and 2 walk in closets leading to the bathroom with shower and tub. On the edge of the living room is a queen wall bed, so the apartment comfortably sleeps 4 .
The spiffy fully equipped modern kitchen has granite counter tops, dishwasher, 4 burner stove and oven. The fridge has a freezer. There is a bar with bar stools. The chalet has a wood burning stove and radiant floor heating. You'll have access to a washer/dryer. In the winter it is ski in/ski out offering ski lockers for returning guests. You will love this space in the typical charming Swiss village of Murren.
We're adjacent to a wildlife preserve, with daily sightings of graceful charming Chamois, so we cannot accommodate dogs or cats.
If you want spacious, quiet, private, cozy and spectacular, this place is for you. World famous hiking and skiing are at the doorstep. And a Peace you've never before experienced.
After you check in, you'll be welcomed by our Property Manager. She will register you for the "Kurtaxe" which is prepaid with your payment. You will then pickup the "Kurkarte" at the modern Sport Center where you can enjoy indoor swimming and ice-skating free and benefit form discounts at various stores.
To access the chalet, you will take the BLM cable car from Lauterbrunnen, via Grutschalp. Turn right when leaving the Murren train station and enter 2nd historic chalet on left side of road. Here are lockers where you can store your skis/boards et al, before ascending an outdoor stairway of 60 steps to Chalet SnowBird. At the chalet, you are rewarded with the best view of the Eiger North Wall & Jungfrau Massif that Murren has to offer! You will have access to a clothes washer/dryer which you share with people in the upstairs apartment.
Other Things to Note

We ask that you take good care of our new home, treating it with the same care & respect you'd use in your own home. Please leave the home as you found it with clean kitchen. Enjoy the beauty that is Murren.
The Snowbird Chalet is simply beautiful and very cozy. The home has everything you need to cook (the grocery is a 10 minute walk away), and it's close enough to walk to restaurants within 5-15 minutes. There is a fireplace with all the supplies you need. The views are amazing, and it is a 15 minute walk to the ski lift (and you can ski right down to the chalet at the end of day!). The property manager Dave lives in town, and answered our requests quickly. If you are bringing multiple babies, be sure to let Nancy & Beat know ahead of time, because there is only one crib but I'm sure they would arrange for more if needed. Overall, excellent experience.
Nancy and Beat were awesome. Beat never stops working!! The Snowbird Chalet is so charming. We have told all our friends to stay there. We will return there very soon, good Lord willing. We miss you guys!!
Nancy was a great host and the view from the chalet was incredible. The chalet seemed brand new and had a beautiful, comfortable interior. Very short walk from the train station and ideally located for exploring. If there are other guests staying above you, you can hear foot steps and talking at times but it didn't bother us. The WiFi is very slow at night. We loved coming back after a long day of exploring to sit by the fireplace. Would stay here again.
Highly recommend! We had a fantastic 3-night stay at Chalet Snowbird - the space was clean and comfortable, offering a cozy atmosphere and fantastic views. Nancy and Beat were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, and were responsive in communication to ensure our arrival and check-in went smoothly. The Chalet is a great value when compared to the hotels in the area - we especially appreciated having a full kitchen, high-speed internet, and washer/dryer.
An amazing chalet that was well looked after by a friendly host. Compared to the hotels in the area the Chalet was a great value, and the view was incredible. Small touches like wood for the fireplace and a hammock made a great place truly special.
We apologize about the internet being slow. In trying to fix this issue, our IT guy pointed out that the wifi is slow when guests from 6 apartments all come home at 3-5pm and download hundreds of photos! He said it works fast and fine until 3pm. Would you agree with this, Timothy?
Beautiful, very clean, tasteful, comfortable and well-equipped apartment with an amazing view. Nancy, whom we never met but who responded promptly to all emails, was very helpful and patient as we fine-tuned our reservation. The property manager Mary Claire was wonderfully helpful and friendly, especially to our three little girls, who loved her at once! The apartment is very near the train station but on the opposite end of town from the cable car station, so we parked in Lauterbrunnen and rode the cable car/train into Murren, which worked out very well. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return!
We arrived very late to Murren. About (website hidden) met us personally and walked us to the chalet. The chalet is very beautiful. Cozy, comfortable, beautiful views. Everything that we could ask for! It was a perfect ending to a lovely vacation.

My Swiss born (Murren!) Olympic skier husband, Beat, and I live in Salt Lake City where I am a Travel Consultant and he is a Ski Area Planner. We have 2 children. He grew up in Murren's 4* Hotel Eiger. At his parent's death, he inherited 2 superb view building lots on the north edge of the Village of Murren. During 2011 and 2012 he has built two chalets, now available for rent. We are avid skiers/hikers. Our family cherishes the extraordinary scenery and village atmosphere of Murren. We're excited to introduce/share it with other skiers/hikers/seekers of Peace, harmony and clean air! Nancy von Allmen
