The Space

Climb the spiral staircase to reach your private perch. Enjoy the roof deck with your coffee in the morning. Walk to everything in downtown Santa Cruz, ride your bikes to the beach, redwoods and Big Sur.
This charming space will make for one of your more memorable get-aways. Original art and sculpture throughout space. Loft queen bed, down comforters and high thread count linens round out the comfort factor. Captain Nemo Inspired shower is a work of fine art. The living room is full of books (no t.v.) board games, and art supplies. A comfortable daybed sleeps a single, in the living room with the roof deck garden (email hidden) overlooking downtown.
The building is home to a yoga studio (body&soul) art studio & event space (7squidrow) bodywork and beauty services (bare) located in downtown Santa Cruz. Our Chestnut Street historic district is a beautiful stroll to everything you'd need including an amazing list of cafes and The Penny Ice Creamery all within licking distance.
We are located in a historically significant building, full of amazing art and sculpture. Need to host an event for fifty guests or less, private pop-up dinner party? Our working art studio/event space with petite stage is a magical venue with a secret garden.
Art and cultural workshops are booked through Art duJour and available online. It's a great escape located close to so much.

  • Great house! Like an art exhibition. The terrace is a delight. Close to loads of restaurants (esp gabriellas for dinner and walnut cafe for breakfast). decent but fun walk to the beach. We had a great time and would recommend it.

  • Great experience. Everything was ready and waiting for us, no (website hidden) is a work of art. Literally.

  • The Stage Coach was absolutely magical! The stairs were spectacular and the work in relief in the bathroom was just stunning. There's a giant chess set under the coffee table that fits just perfectly on the table in the beautiful breakfast nook. I felt like I was dreaming, it was all so breathtakingly perfect. The photos don't capture all of the incredible detail. I'd love to learn more about who built this work of art.

I never wanted to leave. Seriously, it was hard to get myself to go to dinner, even. I just wanted to stay there all day and night. But if you can manage to tear yourself away, you are in a fantastic area, walkable to all sorts of wonderful places (we found an incredible restaurant called Laili where I had one of the best meals I've ever had, but I'll save that review for TripAdvisor).

The hosts were friendly and available for questions/concerns. The toilet was clogged when we arrived but they fixed it promptly. My only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer. I can't wait to go back!

  • Christine's apartment is fantastic. Quirky and beautiful, quiet and sunny. It's about a mile or two from the beach, but it's a nice area, close to a nice stretch of restaurants and bars, and it's super easy to get to the beach on one of the bikes. Thanks Christine!

  • we loved our stay at the stage coach apartment. it is a work of art. the beds are super comfy, the kitchen has everything you need, and it is convenient to everything. we walked everywhere - the beach, a movie at the local little theater, dinner, etc.- all was perfect. thanks christine!

  • Stay at your own risk... Well, let me first say that after lots of good luck with AirBNB I finally had a bad experience. The apartment looks cool, is interestingly appointed, and in close proximity to downtown. However, what Christine fails to mention in her ad and is quite important, is that this apartment is not very private at all. You will in fact be sharing a very beautiful old thin wall with Christine and she will be able to hear everything that you say in a conversational voice. You will also be sharing a beautiful outside patio divided by just a few wooden planks from her outside patio. For $250 a night I was expecting something special, but there's always a catch. I would consider an ocean view room at the Dream Inn down the road with a little more privacy for the same price.

    Response from Christine:

Thank you adding insult to bad behavior. Cleaning up ( Vomit) after guests hosting people in the apartment that party until 5 in the morning,

I'm not sure who wins the prize for unhappy experience.

  • We enjoyed the close proximity to restaurants and the downtown. The apartment was a classic Santa Cruz experience - very fun and unique.

  • Great, whimsical place... Very clean and comfortable.

  • The apartment is wonderful with many sweet little details. It is very clean and well kept. The bed is very comfortable with super warm and soft bedding! Christine has stocked the house with many things, including an umbrella and interesting books. Perfect spot to hide away from the rain or to stay while visiting Santa Cruz in the sunshine. Super close to downtown Santa Cruz, we never used the car.
