About this listing
This room opens to a back deck that overlooks ancient oak trees.
This is one of several bedrooms in our large ranch guest house in Napa Valley. We grow grapes and have a winery on our 500 acre property.
Guests of the ranch enjoy the unique experience of waking up in a beautiful and remote vineyard in the eastern hills of Napa Valley.
We serve a wonderful country breakfast each morning. You can walk through the vineyards, hike up the hills or just sit by the pool and enjoy the peaceful and natural surroundings.
The Oaks is a large bedroom with a queen feather bed, hardwood floors and four large windows facing ancient oak trees. The bedroom opens up to a large deck overlooking a lawn, flowers, trees and forest.
The private bath, with tub and shower is detached from the room and is on the hall right outside the bedroom.
The ranch is located approximately 8.5 miles from the Silverado Trail at Rutherford. It is a 20 minute drive to the town of St. Helena.
Other Things to Note
It is possible to also rent the adjacent smaller bedroom "The Vine" if you have a third person who needs accommodations. This guest would share your bathroom, if you chose to include this room. This room will not be available to anyone else.
Wonderful stay! Susan and Jim made our first Napa experience a special one. We loved walking around the property seeing the winery, beautiful views and horses! Susan made an extra special accommodation for us with a late check in and last minute room change. All was done graciously and without a hitch. We can't wait to come back and spend more time actually on the ranch! I'd recommend for anyone looking for a TRUE Napa experience! 5 stars :)
my wife & I were warmly greeted by Susan when we arrived, hey non-pushy attitude left a mark on us from the get go. the place was nicely done and maintained and we loved the privacy, peacefulness, nature, food and the dogs!!!
the pool was clean, water was fresh and refreshing, and the happy hour was awesome. her cook made a terrific breakfast every day, fresh fruit was delicious, and coffee was kept warm and plentiful.
we had a great hike in the morning, which was amazing, along with dogs and going through the horses and breathing the clean air, were all part of a GREAT min-vacation for us to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary.
all and all, we were quite happy and satisfied with our accommodation and for SURE we will be going back.
We had a wonderful experience at Rustridge. Susan and Jim were fabulous hosts and made sure that everything was comfortable from beginning to end. Breakfast was just right every morning and the surrounding area is ripe for exploration. We'll surely be back.
Thanks Susan and Jim!
Our experience was amazing! Susan and Jim were excellent hosts. They invited us for Happy Hour on the back porch, where we drank (very good) wine made by Jim and Susan and some of their friends. It was a great spot to sit by a fire drinking, while watching the sun set behind the mountains and over the vineyard.
The room was comfortable and quiet, especially when used to the bustling noise of San Francisco. Breakfast was very good as well.
The views were incredible in every direction. Befriend the three Yellow Labs and they will be your tour guides on a hike through the vineyards and the hills. Oh yeah, and there are race horses!
Don't be fooled by the map, it's actually a convenient location to get to some of the better wineries. We will definitely be returning!
Susan was an incredible host. The room and property were as advertised and more. My guest and I had a wonderful weekend, and definitely plan to be back.
It was amazing to wake up in our cozy room, run around the property and horse track (with the ranch dogs), and enjoy breakfast out on the back patio.
Susan provided a delicious breakfast spread each morning (think eggs, bacon, fruit, yogurt, coffee, toast, etc.) - which was the perfect start to our days before exploring Napa.
Also, we were offered wine and hors d'oeuvres on the house each night.
Susan and Jim are warm and friendly. Their soft spoken mannerism put me at ease and helped my vacation begin. We arrived in a hurry, trying to make an appointment and Susan was there to help.

About the Host, Susan
Our secluded property, once a large thoroughbred horse and black angus ranch, was purchased by my family in 1972. Now it reflects my husband's and my two passions: wine and horses. We continue to breed and race thoroughbreds and each spring; just about the time new buds form on the grape vines, new foals are born.
The guesthouse is a rambling ranch style home with racing memorabilia, antiques, a large commercial style kitchen, wonderful views, decks, vegetable garden and pool area. We have been hosting guests here for 25 years. We have met wonderful people who have become great friends. Most people who stay here have an adventuresome spirit. They are seeking something out of the ordinary and they like to meet new people. Your experience here will not be ordinary, we would venture to say it will be extraordinary and memorable.
The grapes were first planted in the mid 70's. We grow Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. The winery was founded by my brothers Stan and Grant in 1985. It is housed in a renovated hay storage barn. We took over the reins of the operations in 1990. I am the winemaker and Jim is the vineyard manager and horseman. Helping us handcraft the estate-bottled wines produced by RustRidge is distinguished winemaker Kent Rosenblum aka Dr. Zin. Vines are organically grown and dry farmed, we have some of the oldest vines in Napa Valley!
Jim and I along with our three dogs, fourteen cats and fourteen horses invite you to experience our unique lifestyle, enjoy great wines and unwind in our idyllic environment.
