Interaction with Guests
I try to give my guests as much space as I think they want or need.
If I am around, I am accessible but not in your space, meaning I am working in my office with the door slightly cracked or doing something downstairs while you are upstairs in your bedroom or bathroom.
On the other hand, if you need answers or just want to talk, I always enjoy this part of the host experience.
I try to let the guest set the pace when it comes to how much interaction we have.
Just North of the Old Town, the tree-lined streets & stately mansions of Lincoln Park are tailor made for scenic walks.
Oz park, Lincoln Park Zoo & Lincoln Park Conservatory, Second City, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, Chicago History Museum: all a 5 - 10 minute walk away (And I have all of the picnic supplies you need (plastic cups, paper plates and napkins / plastic utensils etc) to enjoy a nice day
Lakefront / North Ave Beach: 5 minute walk past the zoo (where you can practice yoga, rent bikes, grab a bite to eat or just hang out)
There are over 10 miles of lakefront paths to enjoy, venturing north or south. The beach by my condo hosts volleyball, sand tennis, stand up paddle boarding, an outdoor restaurant, and (of course!) ice cream. There is also bike rental right at the beach, making it easy to rent (and return) bikes and be 1 minute from home.
I am a 10 - 15 minute walk away from the DePaul campus.
Farmers Markets: Every Saturday during the summer you can walk to two farmers markets both 5 minutes away. One of these is the famous Green City Farmers Market and is open every Wednesday and Saturday morning between May and October.
Oz Park: 5 minutes (one of the coolest parks you will see in Chicago and great for running, sun bathing, tennis and general sports)
Wells Street: 15 minute walk (for drinks, dinner or comedy at Second City Comedy Improv or Zanies Comedy Club)
Armitage Ave & Halsted Street: This is a 10 min walk and is one of Chicago's more popular boutique shopping areas
CVS Drug Store and Carnival Groceries: 1 minute walk
Clark Street is also a 5 minute walk with additional places to eat & shop
You can also click on the "Guidebook Globe" located in the top right corner of the homepage to see some of my favorite restaurants and other places to visit
ONCE YOU ARE HERE:
Bikes: Chicago just started rolling out 400 bike stations throughout the city and one of the first stations is half a block from my house.
Buses and trains are a 1 - 15 minute walk from the apartment (train ride downtown is then only a 10 minute ride)
Cabs: No more than a moments wait to flag a cab directly out front of my place day and night
If you are driving there is easy parking on streets surrounding condo.
Give me a heads up en route as to when you expect to arrive, and when you get close give me a call and I will explain where you can park to unload and pick up some free parking stickers (and most of the time I will have a parking spot saved for you in front of my place).
If you need to park yourself you can normally find a spot in less than three minutes.
FLYING OR TAKING A BUS HERE
I have detailed instructions I will email you if you need help getting here from O’Hare and Midway airport as well as the the train station
Other Things to Note
FYI - Going forward requests for 1 night stays might be declined if they are for too far in advance since they often make it harder to book nights surrounding the request.
In order to get you off and running (as well as save you some $) I have purchased:
- FREE ADMISSION TO THE ART INSTITUTE FOR UP TO 4 ADULTS ( I bought a family pass - normal admission is $23 per person)
- LAMINATED STREET MAPS of downtown Chicago as well as a wallet size Chicago bus and train map
- TWO TOP RATED TRAVEL GUIDES - Lonely Planet & Top 10 Chicago
- Re-chargeable CTA CARDS ($5 value) that you can use while you are here.
BIKE STATIONS - Chicago just started rolling out 400 bike stations throughout the city and one of the first stations is half a block from my house. The new Divvy bikes are a fun way to get around. You pay $7 for 24 hours of bike rentals, 1/2 an hour at a time. You can pick up at one place and drop them off somewhere else. For instance you could pick up bikes near my apartment, bike to the el and drop the bikes off then proceed downtown to the museums then pick up more bikes downtown if you feel like it and ride around for a bit then drop them off again or ride them all the way back home. Chicago is totally flat so biking is easy even if you are not particularly athletic and there are lots of streets with designated bike lanes
SECOND BEDROOM NOW AVAILABLE - I now have a second bedroom listed in the same condo as "Lincoln Park - Master Bedroom" in case the availability here does not work for you.
AIR MATTRESSES - I have air mattresses for additional sleeping capability - please inquire if needed.
- LATE CHECK OUT - You can always leave bags here until you leave for the airport
- FORGOTTEN ITEMS - I will mail things back to you that you leave behind as long as you pay for it

- be respectful of my neighbors and personal belongings
- Notify me if you will be arriving after 10 pm before you send a reservation request
- take street shoes off when entering the unit if you think of it
- make yourself at home
- cook delicious meals ( I occasionally have friends over for dinner and you are also always welcome to join us - If you ever want the kitchen to yourself just let me know in advance)
- go out and enjoy the neighborhood
- call or text me if you have any questions
- feel free to do laundry (detergent provided)
PLEASE DO NOT
- Do anything illegal
- Smoke inside (Thank You)

Valid IDs will be required upon checking in.
I can be very flexible with move in and move out times as long as I can get this apartment cleaned for the next airbnb client
It is best to contact me via the airbnb website at all times. I get constant text messages and I am always on this website so I should be able to answer your questions promptly. And you can always call or text my cell as well.

I read reviews of Bob and his accommodations before making my reservation and the overwhelmingly positive responses will have another addition. His instructions on how to travel via CTA to his condominium were perfect and we had no problems finding our way from the airport. As soon as we arrived, Bob was the consummate host--he greeted us upon our arrival, explained all of the amenities, showed us our room and we felt immediately comfortable. It was a frigid weekend, but Bob helped us find a neighborhood restaurant that was perfect for our needs (if you're there, try Stanley's--best fried chicken, mac & cheese EVER) where we ate when it was too cold to venture further. The Art Institute passes (and Bob's instructions on how to take the bus straight there) were a wonderful benefit, since it was too cold to walk around the city.
As others have indicated, we felt very much as though the accommodations were all "ours", though the reservation is for one room/private bathroom (an extremely comfortable bed and a very nicely outfitted bathroom!). At the same time, Bob joined us some evenings to watch a movie and we spent one evening talking on a range of subjects while enjoying a glass of wine. At no time did we feel as though we were in someone else's space.
It was my first trip to Chicago and in Feb it was very cold. However it was wonderful staying at Bob's place as it was warm and welcoming, there was even a towel on my bed for my to put my suitcase on and to dry off the cold ice off it! The rest of the service was equally thoughtful, with a stack of guidebooks and recommendations on what to do and see while I stayed there. The neighbourhood is also lovely, I felt very safe walking there at night and it's conveniently located to cafes, shops and transport :)
I've had many excellent hosts through airbnb and I can say that Bob ranks right there at the top. His place is beautiful. The location is fantastic. Bob has thought of everything. At the same time, he is very laid back and makes you feel very comfortable and at-home. I can't recommend his place highly enough!
Great location and very comfy room, with a closet stocked full of just about anything you might need or have forgotten. I enjoyed my stay!
Bob was on vacation at the time of our booking, which everyone is allowed to do once in awhile. Instead of not allowing us or anyone stay during this time frame, he had two wonderful people (Dave and Karen) host in his place! They were the most incredibly sweet and hospitable people I have met in a long time. They were also very wonderful to get to know and chat with a bit. I was kind of sad as we only stayed one night and couldn't chat with them a little more.
The place is beautiful and has artistic things to look at no matter where you look. Everything was very clean and accommodating. I hope to stay here again in the future and hopefully meet Bob at our next stay! I would highly recommend Bob and this Airbnb listing to anyone looking for a wonderful atmosphere with great people involved! Will definitely keep in mind for future overnights in Chicago.
Bob has a cozy home with all the amenities that you would need.
His property is on the ground floor, but the room is located up one flight of stairs. Since he is located in the heart of the city, I did hear some police cars and general traffic outside when I went to bed, but it was not a big issue. The bathroom was clean and had a coffee maker - nice touch! The tempurpedic mattress was awesome - so comfortable.
He is about three miles from the 22/Clark bus line. You can get to several locations (or connections from this bus line). If you are flying into Chicago and plan to take public transit (which I highly suggest) - grab a transit card as you leave the airport. It looks like a credit card and made everything so easy. Bob had several different kinds of food available for breakfast - another nice touch. I would definitely stay there again.

Hi there fellow Airbnbers.
I grew up in St. Louis MO, lived in Dallas for 8 years and moved to Chicago in 1992.
Love to cook and entertain friends, bike, hike, swim, listen to live music, dance and practice yoga.
I have always been intrigued with why we all think and act the way we do, so I love to travel and see it as a source of education, and myself as a citizens of the world vs. a Chicagoan or American
After over 20 years in national sales with a division of Citigroup, I have started off in a slightly different direction. I have been taking classes at the Chicago Botanic Garden and was just accepted into their Master Gardener program while I start a niche landscaping business with a focus on sustainable / community / vertical / edible gardens.
I love Chicago, it has all of the offerings of a world class city yet still has that small town feel to it.
I have always wanted to open a B & B most of my life so this is a perfect fit for me and an experience I thoroughly enjoy.
My goal is to anticipate your needs before and during your stay, make you feel like you are at home while you here at the apartment, and hopefully help you leave with just the right combination of experiences under your belt.
Chicago is a dynamic city with almost and endless list of fun things to do, but I I have listed out over 50 of my favorite bars, restaurants, coffee shops, retail stores, as well as some of the best of the arts, entertainment and sightseeing activities.
If you would like me to email you this list before you get here to help plan your outing just let me know. Right now I am working on grouping the list into categories like “rainy day”, “If you have a car”, and “little known treasures”.
To me, life is all about the relationships we make on our journey, so feel free to contact me about anything I can do to help out.
