About This Listing
Very clean and bright fully-equipped apartment just up the hill from the historic village of Bethel. Private bath and comfortable, real bed for two adults, plus a fold-out couch and chair for small children or teens. Plenty of privacy on your own deck surrounded by trees, lots of hot water in the shower/tub, and a flat-screen Direct TV to watch the Red Sox and an ipod dock to listen to your own tunes. An hour away from the ocean and in the middle of the best leaf-peeping in the northeast, not to mention the fine dining at the many village inns. Our street Paradise Road lives up to its name: quiet, tree-lined, and picturesque with beautiful views of the mountains with their numerous hiking trails. Come to fly fish, play golf, rent a canoe or kayak for the many rivers and ponds all around. We are also only a short distance from the Appalachian Trail where some of our guests have hiked it a section at a time.
Please leave the apartment as you found it: clean and neat. Since we do not charge a cleaning fee, we ask that you strip the beds and wash all dishes as well as wipe down the counters. There is a vacuum cleaner in one of the closets to clean up if needed.
IMPORTANT: we are on a septic system, so PLEASE do not pour any cooking grease or food scraps down the drain and nothing but toilet paper in the bowl.
What a wonderful experience! Besides the apartment being just as described, Bruce and Victoria were extremely thoughtful hosts! The neighborhood was picturesque and quiet, and made for a perfect early morning walk after a great night's sleep. We are looking forward to staying here again on our next visit to Bethel!
We had a lovely stay in Bruce and Victoria's apartment. It was a beautiful area, and the apartment was quiet and private. Bruce and Victoria made great hiking and eating suggestions, which really made our trip.
I'd recommend future travelers bring some breakfast supplies to supplement what Bruce and Victoria provide, as it wasn't enough food for the two of us. Otherwise, the listing was entirely accurate, and the pictures representative. The apartment is so tasteful and thoughtfully put together you really feel as though you are being welcomed into a home away from home - the marks of a perfect airbnb listing! We would highly recommend it to any travelers passing through the area.
Paradise Road is well named - a ridge with panoramic views both East and West. The apartment is spacious and well equipped, and we enjoyed our breakfasts on the balcony looking out over the woods. We also enjoyed talking with Bruce, who is very knowledgeable. Bethel and surrounds are a special place, with great local restaurants etc.
We couldn't have felt more at home! The apartment is incredibly comfortable, the location is beautiful and Bruce is the perfect host!
Bruce's apartment is in a delightful ridge top location. It was very comfortable for our 2 night stay, with a useful kitchen, great little library, light breakfast, heating and lovely views.
Staying in the Bruce's place was simply a joy! It is cozy and well-equipped apartment located in a beautiful and peaceful town. You will enjoy marvelous view from window, and the way to house itself really (website hidden)'s location allows you reach easily few interesting national parks (by car), and Bruce gave us some useful leaflets on it. Bruce is so kind, attentive and hospitable! We arrived late and he provided us with some food to have something to eat. He also recommended fantastic seafood restaurant nearby. So Bruse was a kind of guide to all treasures of Mean. We were enjoing conversation with him as well as his poems. We spent there only two days, but wish to stay longer! Bruce, thank you so much!
Bruce his place was the best airbnb address we have stayed so far. Great and luxurious apartment, just outside of beautiful Bethel. They even provided breakfast in the fridge. Would definitely recommend this place!
About the Host, Bruce
I am a retired university professor and a well-published and recognized poet. My wife is a fine jeweler, working in silver and gold, but also she is a real rock hound and loves creating settings for the stones she finds. Together we have five children and four granddaughters. I am an avid fly fisherman and Red Sox fan. We love to travel, meet new people and learn about other cultures. We have traveled extensively and just returned from Iceland where we used Air BnB for all our over-night accommodations.
