The Space

Exposed wood beams and brick, fireplace, fantastic art, objects & roof deck. It almost doesn't seem like you’re in Brooklyn when you’re in our home. We currently have two bedrooms available in a three bedroom loft. One private bedroom with a full size bed with a private bathroom and shower.

We also have a 6000 sq foot multi level roof with multiple seating areas and a gas/charcoal grill with smoker.

In the winter time enjoy sitting in front of our gorgeous mid century conical fireplace. Large kitchen with all the bells and whistles including a dishwasher. French press coffee maker. We always have plenty of gorgeous towels and linens as well as fresh soaps. There is always fabulous coffee.

Bicycles upon request.

5 minute walk to the L Train. Several neighborhoods at the ready with great shopping, restaurants, cafes and bars. Our place is located right next to a very loved bar called the Anchored Inn as well as a music venue the Acheron and a sweet little cafe called Newtown. Our neighborhood is rich with street art, interesting people and amazing places to see.

My husband and I are super friendly people and would be more than happy to show you around or give you ideas or advice to make your stay as pleasurable as possible.

We also love kids - we have an eight year old of our own. . The roof is completely fenced off. There is a tree house, swing, see saw, tether ball and hop scotch as well as a bunch of toys. Kids love it over here as do adults :)

I hope you love staying in our home as much as we do!

Interaction with Guests

We have two studios - one is connected to our home which basically means we are around a lot. We are super friendly and easy to get along with. We love giving advice and helping to make your stay unique. I'd like to think that staying with us is like staying with friends you don't know yet.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood and Brooklyn in particular is having a renaissance right now. Most people here make things with pride whether it be music or whisky. Everything is handcrafted and that quality is reflected in the local business and restaurants. There are so many great places to buy local handmade work and locally grown food.

Getting around

We are conveniently located on the L Train. Several busses that go in and around Brooklyn and Queens. The Q59 goes directly into Williamsburg proper.

Other Things to Note

Our home is professionally maintained by a cleaning service.

We keep a fully stocked cabinet of everything you could need while travelling from toothpaste to allergy meds.

All bedding is 100% cotton and the comforters and pillows are hypo allergenic.

We use unscented organic vegetable based laundry detergent. If you know that you are allergic to vegetable based detergent please let me know and we will use something else.

We have one cat named pp (perfect pretty) she’s around 10ish. She’s a very low maintenance outdoor cat. She basically comes and goes at her leisure.

Please note that one of our studios and a bar are connected to our house. Studio mates typically start working between 10 am and 12 pm on weekdays and end around 6 pm. Sunday is very quiet. The bar is open until 4 am. If you are a very light sleeper I recommend ear plugs - certain nights you can hear faint music.

Our plumbing is very old - please no tampons in the toilet.

  • This is a great place to stay. It's located in this area of Williamsburg that is full of amazing graffiti art.
Their home was comfortable and clean. The roof top was great for a glass of wine at night and breakfast in the morning.
Elissa and her husband are friendly and interesting.
I would definiatly stay there again. It was perfect!

  • Let me summarize; next time we visit New York we really would like to stay again with Elissa and Jay! I guess that might say enough ;-).

Like all the visitors before me said; it's a great place, feels like home (looks though much more prettier :-) ) and Jay and Elissa are great hosts.
Brooklyn is perfect for a stay, I would call it a pure neighborhood with a good mix of people, good restaurants and shops. The Metro is around the corner but the Williamsbridge is also good walkable.
Tip: go for breakfast/ lunch to the 'Bread Brothers Bagel Cafe' around the corner, enjoy!

  • Room was perfectly fine. Great to have private bathroom. Unfortunately I limited my stay in the apartment to sleeping, but found it very convenient, quiet and relaxed. Communication went well.

  • My fiance and I had a great time at Elissa and Jay's place. The room was very comfortable and made it a perfect spot to rest up after touring the city. The room came with many soft clean towels and everything was nice and clean upon arrival. Elissa is extremely easy to communicate with and she did her utmost to make sure we had a great time in New York. I highly recommend staying at the loft. You won't regret it!

  • I had a great stay here! The communication with Elissa was excellent. The room was really beautiful and relaxing after a busy day. It was great to sleep in and wake up in calm, peaceful room. I stayed on a weekend night and did not find it too loud. I also enjoyed having the lovely private bath attached. I wished I was staying longer. I would absolutely reccomend this listing!

  • My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Jay and Elissa's wonderful loft. The neighborhood is a great place with tons of cool street art. The loft itself is pleasant and clean. Our room was nicely appointed comfortable, no problems with noise or anything else. The bath area was a lovely slate shower. We were also able to enjoy the large roof deck. We were able to walk/bike pretty much anywhere in Brooklyn and Manhattan, but the Metro is also just right around the corner. Elissa was great to work with via email, and Jay and Cougar were fantastic hosts. We would certainly stay here again.

  • Our journey was great! Elissa and her family are very kind! We feel like being at our house with friends not renting a bedroom in someone else place. We really enjoy this place and his neighborhood and definitely coming back for our next trip in NYC.

  • Great stay, very easy going people, and a super nice but still raw neighbourhood.
Thank YOU! and try the hummus next door!

  • We had a great time whilst staying with Elissa & Jay, who were both extremely friendly and made us feel at home straight away.

The house is super-cool and quirky, and the rooftop is perfect for chilling in the summer. The neighbourhood seemed really safe and friendly, and is in a great location to catch the L train into Manhattan.

We would 100% return to Elissa & Jay's apartment and recommend it to anywhere thinking about staying in Williamsburg!

About
my name is elissa and I'm from Brooklyn NY. My husband Jay and I are enamelists and we travel the country exhibiting at museums and fine art and craft shows. We always mix in a lot of fun with our work. We love meeting new people, trying great food, and camping along the way. We're really excited about trying aribnb. Jay and I are super polite and will make great guests and hosts. We are both non-smoking laid back people. I love to collect american craft specifically but love all aspects of art, craft, design and architecture. My favorite places to travel to are in Asia. I love Beijing. I seek out as authentic as possible asian food wherever we go. My husband Jay and I are very adventurous outdoors people. We camp 7 months out the year. We also have the most fab 9 year old son Cougar who inspires and delights us every second of the day. Doing things with him makes everything more fun.
