We also have a 6000 sq foot multi level roof with multiple seating areas and a gas/charcoal grill with smoker.

In the winter time enjoy sitting in front of our gorgeous mid century conical fireplace. Large kitchen with all the bells and whistles including a dishwasher. French press coffee maker. We always have plenty of gorgeous towels and linens as well as fresh soaps. There is always fabulous coffee.

5 minute walk to the L Train. Several neighborhoods at the ready with great shopping, restaurants, cafes and bars. Our place is located right next to a very loved bar called the Anchored Inn as well as a music venue the Acheron and a sweet little cafe called Newtown. Our neighborhood is rich with street art, interesting people and amazing places to see.

My husband and I are super friendly people and would be more than happy to show you around or give you ideas or advice to make your stay as pleasurable as possible.

We also love kids - we have an eight year old of our own. . The roof is completely fenced off. There is a tree house, swing, see saw, tether ball and hop scotch as well as a bunch of toys. Kids love it over here as do adults :)

I hope you love staying in our home as much as we do!

Interaction with Guests

We have two studios - one is connected to our home which basically means we are around a lot. We are super friendly and easy to get along with. We love giving advice and helping to make your stay unique. I'd like to think that staying with us is like staying with friends you don't know yet.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood and Brooklyn in particular is having a renaissance right now. Most people here make things with pride whether it be music or whisky. Everything is handcrafted and that quality is reflected in the local business and restaurants. There are so many great places to buy local handmade work and locally grown food.

Getting around

We are conveniently located on the L Train. Several busses that go in and around Brooklyn and Queens. The Q59 goes directly into Williamsburg proper.

Other Things to Note

Our home is professionally maintained by a cleaning service.

We keep a fully stocked cabinet of everything you could need while travelling from toothpaste to allergy meds.

All bedding is 100% cotton and the comforters and pillows are hypo allergenic.

We use unscented organic vegetable based laundry detergent. If you know that you are allergic to vegetable based detergent please let me know and we will use something else.

We have one cat named pp (perfect pretty) she’s around 10ish. She’s a very low maintenance outdoor cat. She basically comes and goes at her leisure.

Please note that one of our studios and a bar are connected to our house. Studio mates typically start working between 10 am and 12 pm on weekdays and end around 6 pm. Sunday is very quiet. The bar is open until 4 am. If you are a very light sleeper I recommend ear plugs - certain nights you can hear faint music.

Our plumbing is very old - please no tampons in the toilet.

  • Quiet and well decorated. There’s a bakery in the opposite corner and a subway station close to that. The hosts were kind and very polite. They give us advices about the city as well the best deal about subway. We also have some good conversations. We’ve been there for 4 nights and we can only recommend the place.

  • I had the BEST time in Brooklyn, largely thanks to how amazingly friendly and helpful Elissa and Jay (and Cougar and PP) were. They were so open and welcoming and made us feel right at home in their beautiful loft. I never had a dull minute due to their extensive recommendations for fun stuff to do all over New York and all the local Brooklyn hang outs. They had fun ideas for any occasion. Their place is creative, interesting and inspiring. Great time, great people. Already looking forward to my next trip to Brooklyn!!

  • Joy an I could not have asked for a more beautiful and comfortable stay. This is my favorite part of Brooklyn and I've always wanted to stay in this neighborhood. The streets are incredibly artistic and inspiring and the space that Elissa has created is an absolute artist's dream home. I would highly recommend staying here, not only is everything so thoughtfully designed, but also, the loft is incredibly clean and simply nice to hang out in. They've created a true place of solace in the heart of a city full of white noise.

Moreover, Elissa was very communicative and everything was very friendly and seamless. I had the best birthday weekend I can remember and its in large part because we stayed at this loft. Thanks again Elissa, Joy and I will be back until we finally return to BK in August!

  • We had such a fun time staying with Elissa and Jay. They are experienced and friendly hosts with so much knowledge about the area they live in.
The premises is something quite special - the care, attention and dedication gone into the apartment definitely has the wow factor. We left leaving inspired by Elissa, Jay and all of their artwork and belongings. The room we rented was lovely, cosy, warm and so much more interesting than your average hotel room in the city.
The neighbourhood was brilliant. Really fantastic if you appreciate your art as the graffiti walls are outstanding and there is a real feel of energy in the neighbourhood. Fantastic eateries and bars are round the corner from the apartment. Bedford avenue is 20 mins away and is full of creative spaces with a really huge variety of food and beers! Beer here is amazing and you can easily find some of the best in the world right on your doorstep.
Very easy links into Manhatten and the surrounding boroughs also.
We really felt like part of the family staying with Elissa and Jay and we can say that we feel better people for it!
If you love something a bit quirky with atmosphere and meeting new people then definitely stay here. Fantastic value for money and we really want to return in the Summer months to experience Brooklyn in another light! We miss you!

  • We spent 7 days with Elissa, Jay, Cougar and pp the most friendly cat in the world. It was our first airbnb experience and we had the best time! Elissa is so helpful and friendly and we feel we've made a good friend in New York. The room was fantastic, clean and the bed was very comfy. You will notice that all the little details are taken care of here. There are emergency supplies and a cool white noise maker to help you sleep. We would definitely recommend staying here!

  • We enjoyed out stay at Elissa, Jay and Cougar's space. The neighborhood felt completely safe, and there are restaurants and bars within easy walking distance, as well as being about 3 blocks from the L, as other reviewers mentioned.
Very helpful hosts, suggesting restaurants and answering our random questions about where to find coffee, etc. Elissa also very kindly offered winter gear when it unexpectedly snowed during our visit.
pp the cat is a sweetheart too.
As Elissa mentions in the listing, ear plugs are great if you're a light sleeper :-)

About
my name is elissa and I'm from Brooklyn NY. My husband Jay and I are enamelists and we travel the country exhibiting at museums and fine art and craft shows. We always mix in a lot of fun with our work. We love meeting new people, trying great food, and camping along the way. We're really excited about trying aribnb. Jay and I are super polite and will make great guests. We are both non-smoking laid back people. I love to collect american craft specifically but love all aspects of art, craft, design and architecture. My favorite places to travel to are in Asia. I love Beijing. I seek out as authentic as possible asian food wherever we go. My husband Jay and I are very adventurous outdoors people. We camp 7 months out the year. We also have the most fab 7 year old son Cougar who inspires and delights us every second of the day. Doing things with him makes everything more fun.
