The space
One of the best things about this property is it's location, spacious sprawl and convenience. The farmhouse is just 3 minutes off I87 and close to all major shopping, dining, activities and entertainment the Lake George area has to offer. You are quite literally within 5-10 minutes of it all. Saratoga Springs is just 25 minutes to the south off I87 and the village of Lake George just 10 minutes to the north off
I87. (We are just a stones throw from The Factory Outlets and heavy traffic through here during the summer makes traveling to the lake a few minutes slower if you go down the main corridor. Not to worry though because there are back roads and easy access to the highway, bonus!)
If you are looking for a respite away from the hustle and bustle yet quickly access all of it, you will appreciate this place. The property is private, sprawling, spacious and serene no matter the season. You will feel like you're in the countryside, yet all the urban amenities are just around the corner. Coming from the fast paced city? Children in need of a nature immersion experience? The farm retreat is the perfect antidote and will provide you with the quiet calm and reset you’re craving. Enjoy the privacy of the back grilling deck, cozy up to the outdoor fireplace, take a dip in the salt water pool by day or night. Plenty of parking in the driveway for up to 6 cars and use of 2 car garage. It's a one of a kind property designed for family. Also makes a convenient weekly or monthly rental for Saratoga track season.
Guests at our farm can expect to feel comfortable, welcome, relaxed and at home. Our home is clean and spacious with a lived in, cozy vibe. The decor is simplistic, uncluttered and intentional, with hints of nature thoughtfully arranged throughout. Large windows let in natural light and amplify the beauty of the surrounding wilderness, trees and sprawling acres. The style and design approach is inspired by the outdoors and reflected in the warm textures, organic fibers and a neutral color pallet. Many of the antique items throughout the home were found and collected over the years at antique markets, thrift shops and estate sales giving the home a soulful, curated and loved well feel.
Two large separate living rooms make vacationing with a large group or family easy and enjoyable. The lower living room is a fantastic space for watching the big game or hosting movie night with 3 couches, and a big screen 70” smart tv. You will find a wide array of puzzles, games, cards, art supplies and movies in the wood cabinet. A sliding barn door makes this room almost private feeling as well. The “studio” vibe of this room makes it perfect for jam sessions, or pilates! A baby grand piano, large windows, natural ambient light, ample floor space and gorgeous views of the pond and barn really set this space apart.
The main living room is just off the kitchen, and is perfect for conversing over a glass of wine and charcuterie or cup of tea. This room has a more intimate, moody ambiance. It’s a great space for reading or catching up with emails. In the cooler months the wood burning fireplace makes it extra cozy feeling. We have intentionally left a television out of this room.
The bedrooms at the farmhouse are fit with quality linens, mattresses, pillows and blackout drapes (except the middle bedroom which does not have black out curtains) to ensure a restful nights sleep. There are plenty of places to store and hang your clothes even though 3 of the closets remain locked as we use them for storage. The master bedroom has a king size bed and a full bathroom with a tub and shower. The middle bedroom is another large room with a queen size bed and sits directly across from the second bathroom that has a standup shower, no tub. Down the hall are the 2 smaller bedrooms that each have a full size bed. There are no TVs in the bedrooms.
The well appointed kitchen features a 6 burner Monogram gas stove, a Breville 12 cup grind and brew coffee maker, (also
have options such as a french press, and a Chemex pour over), as well as a SMEG toaster, and an electric tea kettle just to name a few. Small appliances such as a juicer, and vitamix blender can be found in the glass pantry along with a wide variety of spices sure to entice your inner chef. Speaking of inner chef, the tv in the kitchen has streaming capabilities if you want to follow along to your favorite chef and whip up a culinary masterpiece. Two large islands make food prep, gathering, or working remotely a pleasure. Skip the coffee shop, stay home and whip up a frothy latte to enjoy on the back deck as the sun comes up!
Enjoy the privacy and serenity of our salt water pool and sprawling 42+ acres. Our property has a stream that runs through the back forest, behind the barn, with tide pools and a small waterfall. Our favorite feature of the property is the large pond that is continuously fed by a mountain stream. It is home to brook trout, frogs, minnows, pollywogs and an occasional family of ducks. Our resident blue heron can often be seen getting fat on frogs! Feel free to take in the views while sitting in an adirondack chair. Guests may take delight in the flower blooms, vegetable gardens, wild herbs, and streams around the home, barn and woods. Grab a book and relax in one of our hammocks or chairs and doze off to the soothing sound of nature. Just off to the right of the pool patio, guests can kick back in an Adirondack chair under the cafe lights, cozy up to a warm fire, roast marshmallows, and toast the stars.
Our barn is another gorgeous feature that adds a soulful character and nostalgia to the property, not to mention a beautiful backdrop for family photos. Each year we expand our vegetable and flower gardens and enjoy sharing them with our farm guests.( Discaimer: we cannot guarantee from year to year how prolific the gardens will be considering factors beyond our control such as weather, and wildlife who insist on destroying our hard work!) Behind the barn is our chicken house where our hens nest and lay beautiful eggs.
We’re confident you’ll enjoy the peaceful aesthetic of the farm and feel like you’re miles from nowhere yet conveniently situated to all major shopping, dining, entertainment, and lake and mountain fun. This location is ACE!
