The space

Arts and Crafts home bordering the Cambridge Woods. A beautiful area that attracts bikers, walkers, and a variety of interesting birds and other wildlife. You can enjoy a walk in the woods which has rare plant species and unique native plants. It is considered to have one of the most bio-diverse natural areas in the Milwaukee River Greenway. The distance of a few blocks along the walking path is the entrance to Hubbard Park which has a Beer Garden and entertainment on Wednesday nights in July from 6:30 -9:00 pm. The UW-Milwaukee campus is eight blocks away. My 1928 Arts and Craft house still has the original wood buffet with leaded glass doors in the dining room. The entire house has refinished hard-wood floors and trims have been preserved or refinished. Antiques and local artists' work will be found throughout the house. The kitchen has been recently remodeled by a local designer and other local artists have contributed to its unique and beautiful arts and crafts style. The bedroom is furnished with antiques and a variety of interesting pieces of art. There is a single bed and the bathroom is next to the bedroom. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower which is only used by the guest. Guests will receive a beverage and a snack on arrival. Breakfast will include pancakes, granola, fruit, and coffee or tea for guests who stay up to one week. Guests staying beyond one week will be provided with a light meal on arrival and coffee or tea in the morning. There is public local bus service a couple of blocks away. If you need information about transportation from the airport or Amtrak station, I'll be happy to supply you with that information.

Deborah was kind and made me feel like staying in her place was like staying with close friends or family. She prepared dinner and breakfast, had activities planned for us, and showed me around Milwaukee. I would highly recommend staying here if you are new to Milwaukee! Comfy bed, great host, healthy and filling breakfast, awsum Oak Leaf Bicycle Trail just outside your door, Cambridge Woods just outside your door for nice walks, easy car access to all of Milwaukee. And for the lovers of regional architecture, the Edmund B. Gustorf Boathouse - a house in the shape of a boat, just two streets away! Bring your bicycle! Enjoy the great outdoors!

Deborah went the extra mile to make my stay comfortable and convenient! She offered me a refreshing snack as soon as I arrived, and helped me find my way at the University. Her house is conveniently close to the University. Her guest room was lovely and definitely comfortable. She let me know just what to expect and was kindly attentive to my comfort. Deborah made a delicious breakfast, and I enjoyed talking with her while we ate. I would stay here again!

My stay at Deborah's place was very nice. The room was comfortable and Deborah is a very kind and personable host. As I was in town to visit my daughter at UW Milwaukee the location was perfect for me as it is only blocks away from campus in a very quite neighborhood and also close to the nature center, where my daughter and I went for a long walk along the Milwaukee river.

I am from Milwaukee and I have been a teacher for many years working with both children and adults in various public, private and community educational sites. I enjoy having friends and family over for dinner, attending performances, art events, live music and biking. I also, enjoy meeting new people and I like to read about people that have inspiring stories to tell. I have most recently been teaching English at a Catholic Church that supports Burmese refugees from Thailand. Also, I am a Reading Teacher for Milwaukee Area Technical College teaching reading and writing in a pre-GED program.

I enjoy hosting guests from near and far. It is fun to introduce guests to all the special places and events Milwaukee has to offer.
