4 blocks from subway

* Longer term occupancy is welcome! The first 30 days would be booked through airbnb and the remainder of the stay arranged in person.
Please note that our prices are firm. The price given by airbnb is final. No discounts will be considered unless the stay is for more than 3 months.
And finally; no boys allowed. The ONLY exception to this rule would be if a male wished to book all 3 beds in the dorm in the event they were available.
The Yoga Dorm is a large shared bedroom with 3 twin size beds. The sleeping areas are separated by 3 curtains which can be drawn for visual privacy. Due to the proximity of each sleeping area, we currently offer The Yoga Dorm to female guests only. Each nook has minimal furnishings like overhead lighting, a place to hang cloths, built out shelving for personal items etc. You will have a key to the dorm but there is no private locker of any kind. Should you wish to lock up your belongings we suggest bringing a luggage lock. The yoga dorm is for the Zen traveler who values clean, simple and affordable accommodation in the big city.
The Yoga Dorm is located in a lofted area above the yoga studio lounge and communal kitchen to the building. Guests can expect to hear the sounds of other guests or staff using the kitchen in the morning.
The shared bathroom is located steps away from the Yoga Dorm. There is a beautiful claw foot bathtub and a separate toilet down stairs. In the event of "traffic," a secondary bathroom is available for use.
We are happy to offer guests a complimentary unlimited week of yoga classes at any of our 4 locations. The closest studio would be our Greenpoint location which is a 5 minute walk up the street. Please visit our schedule online by searching "goodyoganyc" and selecting the 'locations' link then clicking on our 'greenpoint' studio. Please note that although in the past yoga was held here in the same building as the guest house, all our classes have moved to our new location a few blocks away.
Dining out in New York City can be an experience in itself. We find that guests are either prepared with a list of restaurants that they want to enjoy, or they have no idea where to go. While there are new restaurants popping up every day, we can guide you to some local favorites or direct you to a landmark eatery in Manhattan. For those early mornings or quick bites we offer complimentary local products available in the guest refrigerator: bread, cheese, fruit juice, coffee, bottled water, preserves etc.

Greenpoint and neighboring Williamsburg are bustling centers of creativity and entertainment. We are conveniently located in Northern Brooklyn with easy access to midtown/lower Manhattan, uptown, downtown Brooklyn and Queens – all within minutes by G and L subway lines. This summer we also have the East River Ferry which is located 6 blocks away on the riverfront and takes you to 34th street in Manhattan in minutes.
The neighborhood is a hotspot for travelers who enjoy good restaurants, bars, shopping, music and nightlife. Amazing views of Manhattan, great parks and bike friendly roads make Greenpoint great for outdoor activities. Our neighborhood is also one of the safest in New York City.
Our neighborhood is great for street parking by NYC standards. Just pay attention to the alternate side parking signs on each block. These signs explain what times of day and what days of the week parking is or is not allowed.
From JFK take the airtran to Jamaica Station and transfer to the Subway. Take the E train towards Manhattan and change at Court Square. At Court Square transfer to the G train in the direction of Church Avenue which heads south into Brooklyn. Get off the G at Greenpoint Avenue. We are a 5 minute walk south along the river.
Alternatively we are a 12 to 15 minute walk north of the Bedford Avenue stop on L train.
Lovely place and guests, quiet and resfull place, easy to find.
I will come back next time I have to stay in NY.
Was in need of a place while moving between apartments and this was ideal! Great location, comfy bed, awesome space, and everything that you need is there. You are left to your own devices but the one manager that I did meet was lovely. Thanks so much.
I am a repeat visitor to Goodpoint.
I thoroughly enjoy my stays at Goodpoint!
I came across this listing after I was waiting for a response from another place. My trip wasn't long but I needed to find a place quickly. Things didn't work out with the first place leaving me like 16 hours to find some place to stay. I requested to space at 8:30am and they responded at 10:30am. They were so responsive. The space was great close to the G train and the L. Located in a great neighborhood that was quiet and safe for those who maybe traveling alone. There are restaurants and shops close, great for any thrifters! My roommates were quiet and respectful. I felt that even though I was sharing a space with strangers that my things were safe. I wish I took advantage of yoga! I do plan on staying here the next time I visit New York.
Very nice place. Very clean, with every confort! Near the subway station! Warm in winter!
Great little dorm! Very clean and well located. I was given instructions to check myself in, and I just snagged myself an empty bed. The other guests were all very nice and I never felt like my property was unsafe. I would definitely recommend this place for people traveling together, especially if there are three of you and you are able to book all three beds! It would be like having your own little loft apartment.
Goodpoint is the perfect place to stay in NYC if you are looking for something more friendly and more accommodating that a 'student' hostel. The hosts are experienced and happy to accommodate requests or help with questions about the area. Greenpoint is a great neighborhood, with lovely cafes, restaurants and shopping. Easy and safe walk to the subway, as a single woman travelling I found this place to be perfect. Other guests were very interesting to chat to and I couldn't recommend this place enough. If you have trouble sleeping be warned there is little sound proofing in the dorm but as long as you know what you are getting into it's fine. Great shower, great kitchen, great internet, easy access (but still very safe) and best of all great people.
Everything was more than fine. I have low needs when visiting a city because I am outside all the time and just need a place for a nice and silent sleep. Everything was clean and comfortable. Ali and Ray were very nice, helpful and provides a lot of material for visiting NYC.
There is only one thing left to say: I recommend it
Couldn't recommend this place enough! Ray and Flannery are such great hosts and really go out of their way to help you in any way they can. It's a wonderful haven in the city....feels more like a retreat than a hostel and is the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of the city. Highly recommend the rooftop yoga too!
The Yoga Dorm is a really nice place to stay. The place is quite and the neighborhood has everything you need. The access to Manhatam is also convenient.
