Owners are chemically sensitive so building is scent-free with no carpeting, except the stairs. 100% lead-free building. WIFI and basic cable TV, although we are not much of a TV-watching household.
House is in continuous state of renovation so perfection should not be expected. We are NOT a B & B but a working household! Stacy works from home in 2nd floor office and Whip runs a weatherization business from the premises.
Expect to see: plush linens, stacks of flooring, gutted mudroom, soffet-less new standing seam roof, patio-en-process, Walnut Hill, neighbor's 3 donkeys chomping our grass, open windows in the summertime as weather is fair, Ginger our fluffy Maine Coon cat and Dusky, the big black cat.
Expect to hear: rural rush-hour traffic starting at 7 am, a cacophony of songbirds, the neighbor's far-away rooster & cows, Clesson Brook across the street after 7 pm when traffic grows scarce & Stacy working at her desk starting at 9 am.
Shelburne Falls, population 2,000, is home to the Bridge of Flowers, Salmon Falls & the Glacial Potholes. 30 minutes from Northampton, MA; North Adams, MA; Charlemont, MA; Rowe, MA & Brattleboro, VT. Stacy and Whip were great hosts. Very welcoming and very knowledgeable about the local area. The bed was extremely comfortable and they have a great home! Would definitely recommend them and thanks again!
My husband and I enjoyed our weekend stay with Stacy and Whip in their home in Shelburne Falls. I was returning to the area for a high school reunion after many years, and it was good to be in the beautiful rural New England countryside again. We slept soundly in the comfortable queen four-poster bed, with a gentle breeze from the window. They have done a beautiful job restoring their 1800’s home—you have the feel of what it is like to live in a house from that time, but with modern amenities. Stacy was a welcoming and cheerful host, thoughtful about making the single bath available to us when we needed it, and gave us excellent information and advice about where to go for meals and activities.
Please see previous review. Had a great stay.
Stacy is a wonderful host. Very friendly & welcoming. I recommend staying with her.
Comfy futon, clean linens, local recommendations, and very friendly... what more could you ask for. They were nice and easy-going, I recommend staying with them for sure.
