About This Listing
Enjoy this boutique one-bedroom apartment with stunning sea-views located in the history-steeped town of Senglea within walking distance to Birgu and 3 (but intense) minutes ferry to Valletta. The apartment has a variety of original Maltese features and provides an authentic experience.
In the hart of the historic Malta, set right at the magnificent waterfront of the oldest of the Three cities (founded by the Knights in 1552), this apartment offers stunning views, authentic historical setting for the sophisticated traveler and all the modern conveniences at a knock-down price! Among the latter we count convenient ferry, bus and water taxi transport links to Valletta and beyond, exquisite restaurant and bar outlets just across the creek, plus the numerous local establishments at hand.
The apartment is furnished with a tasteful emphasis on the original Maltese features now rapidly disappearing throughout the island's noisier and busier tourist areas. These features include traditional patterned tiles (to keep the weary traveler's feet cool in the heat), traditional Maltese balcony insightfully converted into a dining room with breath-taking views of the Grand harbour and the cities of Valletta and Vittoriosa (beautiful settings should finally be counted as the necessary condition for healthy eating and living!). Old wooden beams adorn the aristocratic high ceilings, adding a touch of nostalgic grandeur.
All this combines to offer an unbeatable travel experience which breaks radically with the standardized mass hotel packages of today's tourist industry. Come and explore a little-known Maltese locality which offers a glimpse into the authentic Maltese life-style; a locality that is distant, yet close enough to the more established sites. The ferry connection to Valletta(4min) across the Grand Harbour is second to no other type of transportation (sometimes the truth of the old worn-out proverb that the journey is more important than the destination holds unconditionally but if you insist on renting a car, there is plenty of parking space also).
The apartment comprises a bedroom with a double niche bed, a spacious and elegantly vintage-furnished living room (with a sofa-bed), a dining area, a fully equipped kitchenette (for those who are tired of eating out and want to experiment with local fresh produce at home) and a bathroom (needless to say, also with sea views!).
Smoking is fine. Pets also
Excellent experience. Nice and friendly host, highly recommend to stay with Alberto if you choose to stay near Valletta
Alberto was a very nice host. The view from the room is truly stunning and it's located in a very historical area of Malta: Good starting point to explore Valetta and the Three Cities by foot, very nice area for walks (and still enough parking space in the surrounding to park the rental car if needed ;-)
It's really the best sea view 3' ferry to Valletta!
The position is fantastic in the old district of Senglea: the fascinating waterfront in front of Valletta.
Alberto is a perfect host: very helpful, friendly, really great!
His apartment is wonderful! It is a old house of character, with original floor and many details that lovers of design will love very much.
It is very simple come to Valletta with ferry (the ferry stop is just a few steps from the house) and on arrival there is a speedy elevator that leads in a panoramic fantastic garden, in the centre of the city. All in few minutes!
Alberto's house is a perfect base for visiting Malta, and inside there is all that you need. My children enjoyed the bed alcove. Me and my husband the great sea view.
Alberto's flat is a real gem - the photos really don't do it justice. It is ina perfect location in Senglea, giving you a fantastic view of the harbour....
Alberto is a very friendly and welcoming host - it was great to chat to him. As an Italian emigre, he's very knowedgable about Malta but sees it from a visitor's point of view.
I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Malta. This is such a great apartment.
This apartment was fabulous. It was exactly how it looks in pictures. It was clean and a wonderful location! Alberto was extremely kind--picked us up from the airport and gave us some great recommendations. The location is fabulous!! I would recommend this to anyone heading to Malta.
Alberto had a warm welcome for us. He enthusiastic told about the highlights of the three cities and Valletta. We got some SMS from him asking if everything was OK. When we were that stupid to close the door, leaving a suitcase behind, he was very kind to open the door, though he was out of the house and very busy at the time
About the Host, Alberto
I m an Italian architect based in Malta. Here I felt in love with the authenticity of this island and with his typical architecture . That's why i tried to restore this house keeping all the original features.
I hope you will enjoy, as i do, this authenticity in the Maltese life.
