About This Listing
A single and double room available most of the year
We are letting two rooms in our house, one single the other double. There is large bathroom used by the whole house. The house is on 4 storeys and the kitchen opens onto the garden. We currently have a (website hidden) page set up with more photgraphs of both the house and the locality just go to F....B and search on Beautiful house in Ironbridge Shropshire and take a look.
We are a vegetarian household and some of our food comes from our garden and our hens. We can supply breakfast and/or packed lunches - just ask.
We are on the south side of the river, just off Bridge Road The Ironbridge is 5 minutes down the hill (10 mins back up!).
We are actually in Broseley Wood, the pipe museum is 200 yards away and Broseley also has a very good greengrocers (Downes) and and a fresh bread shop (Kathryn's). There is also the highly acclaimed King and Thai resturaunt. The Broseley Wood Jitties are literally on our door step and we have great walks over to Benthall Hall (30mins) and onto the Jack Mytton way.
Iron Bridge is famous for the Blists Hill Museums. It is also possible to hire a Canadian canoe to access the river and to cycle all along the railway track to Bridgnorth.
There are buses from Broseley village to Telford and Bridgnorth and from Ironbridge to Shreswbury as well.
Use of kitchen and we have a two living rooms so its possible to have relaxing area away from bedroom by arrangement
Interaction with Guests
We often eat with our guests but its not a requirement. We are vegetarian household and often there is enough food for more than just us.
We are in the wonderfully beautiful Ironbridge Gorge that has the first iron bridge and the associated museum complex. All this with the River Severn and all its attractions as well. We are in easy reach of Ludlow, Bridgnorth, Shrewsbury, Church Stretton and the Long Mynnd. Beyond that are all the Welsh Hills.
Lenny and Marianne were really helpful about confirming the visit and providing information.
They have a lovely old house, with all the creaky character floorboards, nice bathroom, and the bedrooms were great to return to after a day out. It was fun to try and find in the taxi when dark however!
If I end up going back to the area for another overnight stay, I would definitely return.
Lenny and Marianne were fantastic hosts. I really felt at home whilst staying at their lovely house. They room was nice and warm and spotless. Lenny even dropped me off at the town to start my sightseeing.
Lenny and Marianne were wonderful hosts. They made me feel so welcome from the get go in their gorgeous, characterful house. Nothing was too much trouble and they even just happened to have gluten free bread available! I slept extremely well in a comfortable bed, and couldn't have asked for more. Although the house is down a narrow, secluded lane, it is less than a minute from a main(ish) road into surrounding towns and villages, and so was an excellent location, if I were exploring Ironbridge, Much Wenlock etc. Only thing to be aware of is that the parking is quite tight outside the house, and anything longer than a small estate might struggle to fit in. However, you could probably a bigger car on a nearby road quite safely.
Lenny made us feel right at home in his beautiful georgian home. We enjoyed the delicious homemade bread and eggs from his neighbours hens. Our one year old daughter felt right at home and was happily crawling all over the place. The house has a beautiful energy about it and we felt relaxed after our weekend there. Lenny is a really interesting host and great conversationalist. Thanks for hosting us.
