Villa in fashionable Seminyak in easy distance from popular shops, restaurants and beaches and some of the best SPAS ever. Shopping for clothes and gifts is very close and can be wearying so its nice to come back to a garden and put your feet up. It is also on the edge of a river and rice paddies with an enormos sacred tree reputed to have magical powers. For those who want the best of both worlds...the old and the new. Town and country.
You can rent a bike or a cheap taxi ride of $2-3 will take you to fashionable restaurants, shops and the beaches and a nearby gym.. For those wanting to surf its easy to get a bike with surf board attachment and there is a host of trainers down on double six beach.
Those wanting to scuba dive can find many types of trips to beautiful islands and 'livaboard"!
For those wanting to lie on sunbeds at double six beach and have massages, manicures and pedicures and meals brought to them, once again, 'double six beach' is very popular.
If you want classes in making silver jewelry or you want to head up to the hills and discover the traditional way of roasting and griinding coffee, then a trip to Mundoc can be arranged.
I love to go to the big Bazar in Sulawesi where herbs and spices from all the islands of Indonesia can be found or ordered....herbs and spices for cooking are also for healing and different members of the ginger family are used for different ailments. Greater Galangal or little turmeric?
Another part of the market has traditional cooking equipment and here, for those who love cooking or making healing Jamus, There are stone hand grinders, bamboo baskets for sieves , drying and or steaming. Metal and clay pots. Then I love to bring it all home and make steamed veggie dumplings.
I have an enormous young rotweiler and his two Bali girl friends and we all love to go for walks across the little curved bridge to the rice paddies or a long the river path towards the Temple...stopping on the way to pick wild passionfruits and look once again at the sacred Tree. Must love animals.
Here you can go for walks along .
Must love dogs and cats.
The bedroom is perfect for one or two people. Bedrooms have their own bathrooms with hot and cold water. Access is to the kitchen and the veranda/living area which is typical aspect of Bali.
Interaction with Guests
Mornings, evenings and weekends. Except to my bedroom, they have access to anything they want as long as they are sensitive and well mannered. I am present at night and weekends. You can also call me at work on my cell with questions and quite often my staff helper know the answer.
In the midst of amazing Spas and restaurants, clothes boutiques and carved woodwork, glass and basket wear to cheap videos and electronics. You can recover your senses in this area that still has pockets of how Bali used to be. A short while ago it was still village life as usual . This area such as the rice paddies next to the river are still worked by Balinese in traditional clothes and straw hat. The couple in the rice paddy are very sweet. The enormous amount of trees and climbing plants that have a ball in the rainy season. Look for the older generation who have so much goodwill. I love cooking with balinese vegetables, herbs and spices and also making lotions with the leaves and flowers that are so plentiful. At the moment it is the season for wild passion fruits growing by the side of the road...they are delicious. For people who like these things a trip to the big market in Jalan Sulawesi is great fun. Best I can take my rockweiler to the beach without muzzles and often without his leash and have coffee in a little beach front cafe meeting up with other dog owners, and take him for a walk along the beach or boogy boarding. You can rent beds with umbrellas for the day at the cafe and they bring you everything you want including a massage as you gaze out towards a horizon of blue seas and blue skies.
Taxis are cheap. to most places around here it is three dollars or less. They are here in ten minutes or so. Demand a meter: A lot of people rent a motor bike for two dollars a day and you can rent a car for about forty dollars a day...less by the month and more for a driver. The traffic has become pretty crowded lately so most people I know love taking their bikes down the little alleys that abound in Bali. My daughter whisks across to here in 10 minutes from Bintang. I drive the dogmobile to Batubelig beach in 20 mins...no lovely little side lanes! But where else in the world can you get to a spacious beach with cafes and massage on the beach in 20 min?
Other Things to Note
I have 3 dogs. Two of which are large. The rotweiller loves everyone. They all are loving and so is the cat...who thinks the bedroom being rented was built for her so close the window if you dont want her on your bed.
Toilets are not on main drainage so please don't put anything bulky down them. The toilets come equipped with a little bidet type shower that is controlled by a button at the side...just dont forget to turn it off !when you stand up!
controls for TV, DVD and Air Con are beside the bed.
I am english but have lived in Greece, Italy and california.
I came to Bali nearly twelve years ago.and i;m still as fascinated by so many beautiful trees full of fruit or flowers all the year around. I love animals, cooking and gardening and people who love life and laughter and a sense of the rediculous.
