Andrea's place was fantastic!! Spacious and well-appointed, and beautifully decorated. This is going to be my go-to place to stay in Anchorage from now on.
Andrea is definitely a superhost. She really cares about her guest and it shows throughout her beautiful home. All my questions were answered withinf 5 minutes, she helped me find the BEST local foods including our favorite "Glacier Brewery" and she even goes as far as leaving snacks and breakfast foods such as bananas, apples and Bagels with cream cheese. I will be going back to anchorage in the summer and will definitely book with them again!
We had great experience at your house, everything is perfect,If I come back to Anchorage I will stay at your house again.Take care
Andrea was amazing. She was easy to reach with questions about local eateries, and was eager to help in anyway that she could! We highly recommend this adorable house for any individual, couple, or small family!
this house is amazing . So convenient and well-equipped. So lucky to chose this house ,you has to be here when you travel Alaska!
Initially we were pleased with the neighborhood, the exterior and the interior of the apartment. There was a very nice basket of goodies left for us in the refrigerator and a nice supply of coffee. However as we began to settle in we became concerned. We email Andrea about the proper use of the fireplace only to be told that the gas insert would be installed this coming summer...not available. Then we realized that the 3 TVs were not receiving the needed signals. My husband emailed Andrea to inform her of the problems and was told that there should be no problems. After several additional comments she obviously became bothered and belligerent. She did share with us that she had recently incurred a bad experience with former guests that caused damage and a mess to the apartments. We began to believe that her anger and frustration at the former guests was being directed towards us. We finally were able to get the main TV working but, continued to have problems with the ones in the bedrooms.
There was confusion about when and how we should request additional supplies, ie paper products, coffee, etc. It was our understanding that she would clean the premises every 3 days. However, she only performed very light cleaning one time during our 10 day stay. All in all we enjoyed Anchorage and the time we spent with our family there. This was our first experience with airbnb and if we should return to Anchorage in late summer, as planned, hopefully, we will have a better overall experience regardless of where we stay.
Wow! I'm stunned by this. Such a distorted and dishonest review!
First of all. This property is NOT advertised as having a working fireplace. So any expectation of such is has no basis. I did receive a call to ask if the could use the fireplace, which is actually closed off. I did mention that it would at some point be converted to gas and made into a functional guest feature, but it's OBVIOUSLY not functional now. Secondly...The TVs, which are about 15 months old, which worked just fine for the first two days of their stay....all quit working at the same time due to the guests' tampering with them. When I first received a call by Ann's husband, he led me to believe that all 3 TVs had just quit...no power. I was checking to see if any circuits had been tripped, or what could have made 3 high quality HDTVs to simultaneously stop working during the night. I could come up with no plausible answer other than intentional damage, but I wanted to cover all the bases before bringing this up. They had a New Years party the night before, and that was obviously when something had happened. Then I recieve a rather obnoxious text from Ann, demanding that I provide them with a way to watch New Years Day football immediately!!! $3000 worth of TVs are destroyed...and they demand to watch football NOW!
At this, I called to inform them that they would just have to make other plans to watch football elsewhere. I was having someone over after 4pm to look at what happened. I said that I likely would not be very nice at the moment, so I was going to let someone else handle it. The husband said it was probably something that we did, to which I said, Well. Of course it is! I hurried him off the phone because I didn't want to argue. About 5 minutes later, he called back to inform me that he had fixed the problem....somehow he turned off the cable boxes in ALL 3 rooms! The TVS were not in fact destroyed, as I'd been led to believe.
Third of all, I provide all of my guests with a maid service sign, to put on the back door for freshening up the apartment, as they want. It's their choice as to how often it gets cleaned. Additionally, I send daily texts to ask if they need anything, or want the place cleaned. These people DID NOT want me to clean the apartment at all! THIS IS JUST A FLAT OUT LIE!!! I finally insisted on cleaning mid-way through their stay. I discovered that they had put the coasters and shoe bin away, which protect the hardwoods and slate from damage. I sent them a reminder text that these needed to be used to protect the hardwood floors from water damage from snow and ice melting off shoes and boots. I reminded them that they would be responsible for any damage from this. The place was a devistated mess! But to their credit, they left the apartment in great shape, for which I'm happy, and the ENTIRE reason that they got a good review from me. They were regularly provided with supplies, as needed, and requested. So, Again....A LIE!!! And Finally....THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO MISDIRECTED HOSTILITY TOWARDS THESE PEOPLE. I am always cordial, even when being direct about something that may be unpleasant. I am pretty strait forward when something is out of sorts, so there is never any misunderstanding, and we can quickly move on.
I strive to make all of my guests feel comfortable and welcome...even the demanding ones. I provided these and all my guests with high quality accommodations and lots of amenities at a fair price. I believe that all of the great reviews that I've recieved from very happy guests speak to the quality of services that I provide. It's unfortunate that we have a few bad folks on here, but I still enjoy hosting, and am always happy to welcome new guests from around the world...even the demanding ones!!!
My name is Andrea, but my friends call me Anya....that's Andrea, minus the "Dre".
I have lived in Alaska for over 25 years. I have also lived in Canada and Norway. I have been in the travel industry for most of my adult life....flight attendant, ticket agent, travel agent, and now hospitality. I speak English and German. I love to ride bikes and cross-country ski....and that's why I live in Anchorage! Anchorage has nearly 200 miles of paved (some are even lit!) bike trails...which in the winter become amazing cross-country ski trails. The 5 Things that I cannot live without.....1.Thai Food-and Anchorage has some of the best, this side of Bangkok. 2. A Good Movie with an imaginative story to tell-any genre, it just has to be good! 3. Yorkies. 4. Good Music....again, any genre...but must be good! 5. Alaska and Scandinavia. The northern part of the world is my natural habitat.
